Roberto Ayala spoke about the World Cup final stating that he was treated by a doctor after the World Cup final.

Ayala won the World Cup final as part of the Argentina national team coaching staff but like everyone else, he suffered during the penalty shootout. Speaking in an interview with Radio Continental AM 590, here is what he had to say:

“As soon as Montiel scored the goal, my legs went limp and I didn’t feel anything. I’m not saying I saw the light but I almost did.

“It was tremendous. Dr. Martínez treated me and little by little, I got well again. It was beautiful. Unique.”

“When you’re a world champion, you can’t find the words to describe what you feel.

“I haven’t gone back and watched the final in Qatar, only the first half again for something specific.”

About the younger players in the team:

“Hopefully those who come, the replacements, can put on the shirt and show everything, just like these guys have done.”

Regarding a possible return to his old club Valencia:

“I will return to Valencia in some position. I always have the desire and it is a club that I love very much.”

  1. Thaigo almada looks like will be our best creative sparke if messi retires from international duties after copa America next summer, almada must move to Europe in this summer or January window atm he is too good to mls.

  2. Man I must be desperate, I’m watching Atlanta United play and Almada scored.
am I the only one who noticed the Chinese writing for this link?? and its been there ever since the site was down for a day or so some days ago!

  3. I rewatched the whole final last night, something I have done but it was only the highlights and I was genuinely nervous….I had flashbacks of 2006 2010 2011 2014 2015 2016 2018 2019.
The buildup to DiMaria’s goal was spectacular no matter how many times you watch it and him dispatching the goal without hesitation was legendry.
    IT NEVER GETS OLD.

    • We started with a loss and absolutely peaked in the final. Had it not been for handful moments of nervousness which led to criminal errors , we had French throats pinned under our feet! The errors were also forced mentally by our long history of choking in crucial moments. As the match was approaching its end the mental state of our players were slowly showing signs of nervousness and anxiety and once the penalty was awarded we were back to 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 choker mode. The break for the extra time is what gave us the time to make a comeback mentally and if it wasn’t for an unfortunate handball, where we totally dominated the 30mins of extra time and should have won it without going into the penalties.

  4. Does anyone know what the rumor is about Papu Gomez not being on the NT? I heard something about a witch doctor he hired to curse LoCelso so that he wouldn’t heal in time but I’m not sure if that’s the rumor or not.

    • I hope it’s not true. But I remember when Papu Gomez said Julian Alvarez is not ready to play for the National Team 🤣🤣😂😂.
But on a serious note, Scaloni should come up with a policy not to select players above 30, unless they are playing consistently at top level.

      • > But I remember when Papu Gomez said Julian Alvarez is not ready to play for the National Team

if you listened to the entire interview, Papu is just cautioning people to not hype up young too much. His messaged sounded positive with a focus on players growth, and not negative (or jealous).

        > Scaloni should come up with a policy not to select players above 30, unless they are playing consistently at top level.

The only criteria should be if they’re effective and perform well. No need for extra arbitrary limits like age.
