A Disciplined Mind and a Cultivated Heart are Elements of Power

Welcome to The Ridge!

As the only public high school in the state offering an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to all students, Shortridge High School combines a commitment to rigorous academic inquiry and service – and make it accessible to all. With less than 300 students in each graduating class, we foster a deeply personal and supportive environment that embraces the cultural diversity of our students and the City of Indianapolis.

At Shortridge, we educate our students to think freely and equip them with all the critical tools and skills they need both inside the classroom and beyond our school walls. Our IB Career program creates a career-related pathway with in-depth study and real-world experience, while our IB Diploma program provides a robust college preparatory focus with coursework across multiple subject areas. All students study a foreign language and complete a capstone project or research paper, in addition to core coursework in the sciences, mathematics, social sciences and the arts. As a result of our students’ deep commitment to service, they must complete an average of 75 hours of community service to graduate.

We also boast more than 350 student athletes across 20 varsity teams, and 22 student performance groups ranging from choir, dance, orchestra, band and theater.
