It's a Laguna/OC Culinary Landmark. Great for all occasions. The entrees are delicious, the service is impeccable, and the desserts are everything you would expect from a top level French Restaurant/Bakery. The patio in the back is a bonus!

Horrible experience, they doubled their pricing just for Mother’s Day. We watched three tables around us leave because no one helped them. One table left because they asked to move to an open table closer to water and the younger gentleman who was seating people was cleaning the table off and told them no, then he table that got sat next to them a few minutes later got up and moved to that table without asking and they let them have the table. It was shocking that they were not told the same thing. The people left. They also automatically charged gratuity and we were only a party of 3, I was shocked by this. Overall not the best experience, I will not go to this restaurant again.

We visited on Mother's Day, had very slow service, very high prices and very low quality food. At the end we were told we only had two choices for a tip 20% or 25% despite the poor service and bad food.

3went for Mothers Day, it’s tired, food was just ok…one told the waitstaff he didn’t like the food & they gave us coffee & a dessert as compensation. Bakery is good. We won’t return, the food just wasn’t great.

We thought we were going for the Thanksgiving special only to be told that it wasn't available until 4:40pm. This might have been Open Table's fault; not sure. Very disappointing. Thanksgiving day; seemed to be understaffed. Servers were harried, service was slow. Food was good. Not the special meal we had hoped for.

Very nice place. We got there at 4:30 just in time to sit outside and catch an amazing sunset. The food was great. I can not remember the waiter's name but he was quite friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend!

This was our first time here and I was a little concerned after I read all the negative reviews but I should have never worried the service was amazing and the food was very good. The view of course is the main draw but it was dark out so we couldn't really enjoy that gorgeous view. We started with French onion soup which was spot on and then our server gave us a complimentary cup of lobster bisque which was delicious and we wished we had more of that. The main courses were salmon and Cajun linguine both were very tasty, but the linguine was not spicy at all as it was advertised as very spicy it was still good. The waiters were on top of their game kept our water glasses full and were very attentive. We had a lovely evening here.

Prices on the bill didn’t match the prices on the menu Quality of food by no means justified the price. Waiter inflated the prices arguing we received and old menu. Last time we were there. Supposedly There was a French night with music. No music and horrible service. Manager blamed on the owner. There was a wedding we were sent to the upstairs patio. After eating a three course meal, we ended with all the empty plates and empty glasses on the table. Nobody came to pick them up. Little Perrier was 6:95 plus taxes. Not even the Ritz Carlton Last night we got a copy of the payment but no receipt of the bill except a little handwritten tab. Obviously the place was empty. We won’t be back

Sadly I was discriminated on the basis of my disability as soon as we walked in, by a server/bartender named Steve. I have a disability and a medical service dog that is trained to alert to seizures. As I was talking to a server that is new to California, and was not properly trained in regards to the State's regulations on disability, Steve went out of his way, from a table he was sitting in the far back of the restaurant, to share his opinion that he believed that my dog was not a service dog. I was mistreated and requested to speak to Manuel, the Manager. Manuel apologized several times and made our experience as pleasant as possible. He was the reason we decided to stay. I am disappointed with the lack of hospitality and training their front line servers offered. I will not be coming back and will share my experience with the restaurant owners and the public, in hopes to create change in this restaurant.

Cest la Vie is downtown Laguna on the beach. That is the draw. It is a little run down, but hey! its at the beach. Bkfst was good. Service good. With an ocean view and no street noise It worked out very well

I did not like this place. It's supposed to be French. The French use unsalted butter. The herb butter served with the bread here was way oversalted. I asked if they had vanilla vodka, and was told "Yes." I ordered a drink to be made with it, and said drink was served having been made with vanilla extract. I doubt that I will be back here.

Although it was a tuesday night and a lot of restaurants are slower at this time, it seemed extra quiet and that probably meant the food was going to be ok but not great. The service was outstanding however. We have eaten at this restaurant in the past with better food. Dont go on a tuesday night? One thing you cannot miss however, is the beautiful ocean across from the back balcony. Its worth the experience. BTW they they do serve good food-fantastic bread was served at start of dinner that was to die for. Worthy of a visit.

Food was amazing. My friend ordered the rack of lamb, which we each took a bite of and we all thought was very good. My filet mignon, cooked at the exact temperature I asked for, was also very delicious. Our server, Clint made the whole experience even better with his friendly service.

Our waiter (younger man) was exceptional. That was by far the best part of this dining experience. Food is average. Over priced for the quality. This place is dirty and has bad maintenance. Bread and food particles on the ledge behind our booth. The window frame just a couple feet from our table has bad dry rot and was filthy. The wall below the window was not painted, but only primed or spackled. The mural paint on the walls in not in much better shape. The desserts did look good, but we did not have any.

I saw good reviews and the 4 stars so we decided to try it. Unfortunately, we left before we ordered. When we walked in, it smelled "funny" but we asked for a deck table. The waiter was nice, but our table was dirty, my napkin was dirty, the table was sticky, the floor of the outside deck had a large broken spot with a cone in it, and our water glasses were dirty. We opened the menu only to find old food stuck to one of them. We nicely left only to again notice the bad smell as we left. Went down the street to the most wonderful Italian restaurant, Alessa Laguna.

The worst experience ever. We made a reservation and got here on time. When we approached the host explaining that we were coming for their French Night, he said "We are really busy but I'll find a table for you." So yes indeed he found a table on the patio on the top floor where "all the French Night people were." No music as advertised. They were hosting a weeding and yet they advertised an event. We ended up sitting up there for 20 min waiting for a waiter. So, finally a waiter came and took our drink order. 15 min later, we called the waiter as a reminder and he got upset saying he had a big party and that he was busy. To make it short he never brought our drinks. The manager brought them. The appetizers came and 5 min later the entrees. There wasnt very much room what with two courses on the table. Waiter didn't have any idea of what fine dining means. They delivered the plates on the side and never came back. We had about 6 different empty plates on the table and no one ever came by to pick it up. We left with a bitter taste because it was our anniversary.

Food and server were fine. However, the host was very unwelcoming. When we arrived, we were told that virtually the entire inside dining room was booked for a rehearsal dinner and they only had tables "over there" and they would put us on a waiting list if that was ok. His attitude was like we were bothering him. We almost walked out at that time, but we stayed. The table they had turned out to be on the outdoor patio with a view of the sunset so that turned out fine. After that bad start, the server made the evening enjoyable with his level of service and his personality. We would consider going back to give them another chance.

The meal was terrific. I had rack of lamb. The lamb pieces were a bit small and the sauce could have been a bit more to my liking but it was a really delicious meal. The tomato was amazing and the veggies were tasty. The presentation was attractive.The cheese and fruit platter weren't on the menu but one was made for me, which was appreciated. It was a beautiful work of art! One more cheese and figs would have been nice. The American cheese appeared out of place but I didn't mind. The noise was low since they're weren't many people there. It was too warm in there. There's no air conditioning. The service by Clint was outstanding and the food preparation was quite prompt! There wasn't any bread left in the restaurant to take with my leftovers, so Clint gave me some unique flavored macaroons instead. I left my wallet behind. I retrieved it the next morning without a problem and a staff member gave me one of their little 'Cronuts' with fudge sauce while he was preparing them with sauce. Great staff! Second time there. Last time was on the balcony for my B-Day lunch in November. That's a good time to go for nice weather and ambience.

It was fairly busy when my mom and I arrived which was expected since it was a Saturday morning. We waited at the host stand for quite awhile before being greeted. There were a few staff members that had pasted by us a few times and did not acknowledge us until they noticed the waiting line was growing. After being sat I was pleased with the rest of our service. Our waiter was attentive even though he was noticeably busy. He made sure to keep us updated with the status of our food and drink orders. I have worked in a few restaurants and it is important to me that my server checks in especially when it is taking longer than they would like or longer than it should. I ordered the Beach Huevos Rancheros and it was okay. The presentation was nice, but it was plain. I will definitely be trying something different the next time I go. My mom got the French Toast and ate it all up so safe to say she liked it! She did mention the fruit was fresh and cold so that is always a plus! I will definitely be returning because our server was so great and really knew how to manage all his tables!

Great food but service was lacking. Told us to take which ever table we wanted then we sat there without the menu or water for a while - it was all very awkward. The atmosphere was very strange, some waiters were very rude when we asked politely if there was a table outside. At least the food was good.

Definitely needs renovation. The place looked very outdated. None of the heaters were working outside. Every table got a different story about the heaters not working. Silverware was not only very cheap but also dented bent and dirty. Super dark so all the unpleasant things won't be visible maybe??? And very important point, food was not very good or good. You are able to eat it, just like from any fast food place when you are hungry. Even presentation was not good. Basically I will never ever consider this restaurant again, nor will I recommend to anyone. The only thing that kept us from walking out of there was our young waiter who treated us with great respect and seriously tried his best with what he had to work with.

Annabelle says: Delicious cioppino especially considering it was in front of a beautiful ocean view. So close to the sand you could hear the waves crash. Usually the food is worse the closer to the sand! Very friendly and accommodating service. Parked right in front, and could walk to Pageant. Super convenient.

While there is a nice view from the patio, and it's not too noisy, this is a mediocre restaurant for the most part. The service was amateurish, and the server brought too much food to us at the same time. He didn't describe the dishes we asked about in much detail at all. I will say that the calamari was excellent, and the scallops came in a good sauce, but the rest of the food was comme ci comme ca.

We have eaten here before and the food was very good. This time, however, it was not. The fried fish and french fries were not hot. The Cajun pasta dish was not spicy (as claimed on the menu). There were only 3 small shrimps and some chicken for $26 ---outrageous price. The meal was disappointing. To top it all off, we were celebrating our 51st anniversary. When I asked if they do something special for that, we were told that they only celebrate birthdays!

Location is great, food has always been impeccable. I wasn't sure it the waiter was new but my friend and I had to wait about 20 minutes after being seated to be given water or asked if we wanted to place a drink order while a table next to us that was seated after us was immediately asked for their drinks and if they were ready to order.

I came here with my family for my mother's birthday, and honestly, there was no reason for me to book a reservation and mention that it was for a special occasion. The host stand was managed by a man who nonchalantly welcomed us and barely sat us in a decent spot. The place we sat at was littered with food under the table and smelt of hot trash from the garbage outside, which is why I'm sure people only sit outside on the patio. We were not reserved a table there even though I requested something nice for the birthday celebration. The food was OK, the dessert was hardly anything to write home about, but the waiter who was helping us out made the time there bearable. I would not recommend coming here.
