We love our neighborhood Francesca’s. The service is friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The food is delicious with a mix of creative and standard dishes- satisfy your taste whatever it may be. Always a good value and a good time. The menu changes periodically...to take advantage of seasonal ingredients and always includes a mix of appetizers, salads, pastas, risotto, and entrees (meat, seafood, chicken dishes). Specials are offered. Tonight we had a lovely dinner on their expansive patio. We enjoyed martinis, a lentil salad; chicken Florentine (chicken breasts with spinach and white wine sauce); and Tagliata - a delicious! Wagyu steak served with a side arugula salad. Perfect for a summer evening. They offer a full service bar -cocktails, good value wine selections by the glass or bottle tailored to your preference and perfect service for your meal. The star of the beverage program is the bartender Doc. He is the perfect mixologist for your favorite (or new) cocktail as well as host for your evening should you decide to dine at the bar. He will recommend the perfect wine for your meal and ensure that you have a perfect evening. You can usually find us at the bar or in summer at one of Doc’s patio tables. He will customize your drink “your way” and will remember when you return. Highly recommend. Excellent hands on management as well. The management team are visible and always attentive.More

Went here on our first night in town with our two boys, aged 5 and 7. The staff was incredible, the food was delicious, and they easily accommodated my dietary restrictions. It’s nice to see a restaurant taking care of all the minute details during...such a difficult time with COVID restrictions and limitations. We felt very safe and the food was a great value, especially the kids meals! Thanks for a delicious meal and a great night! (Also, check out the basement for a private event…awesome wine cave!)More

My wife and I are familiar with Francesca's restaurant chain, having dined at other Chicago locations. We also are familiar with the 200 East Chestnut address in Streeterville, which once was occupied by Zaven and other restaurants and once was home to the Seneca Hotel....Now the space is occupied by Francesca's on Chestnut, in the Seneca Apartments, adjacent to Hancock Center. Opened in 2009, it is the 20th location of family restaurants, which offer different cuisines. At Chestnut, which features upscale and sophisticated surroundings with dark wood paneling, brick walls and an arched ceiling, the emphasis is on classic Italian cuisine. Open from 5 to 9 Monday through Thursday, 5 to 10 on Friday, 4 to 10 on Saturday and 4 to 9 on Sunday, Francesca's also offers a full-service bar and expansive patio for its patrons. For starters, we had bruschetta alla Roma with garlic toast, tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella and Caesar salad with roasted pepper, garlic croutons, shaved parmesan cheese and classic Caesar dressing. For an entree, my wife chose grilled Atlantic salmon with tomatoes, avocado, red onion, olive oil, basil and lemon with asparagus drizzled with balsamic, sauteed spinach and sausage and pepper. I chose sauteed wild Alaskan halibut with shiitake and cremini mushrooms, tomatoes, sage, garlic and white wine with roasted potatoes and sauteed shrimp. At Francesca's, dessert is a genuine treat. What to choose? Tiramisu, profiteroles, Italian ice cream sundae or two scoops of gelato or two scoops of sorbet? We opted for profiteroles, a tasty item not often found on menus. This version was delicious, cream puffs served warm with pistachio gelato and chocolate sauce. The Sloppy Sundae also is highly recommended. It is made with vanilla bean gelato, chocolate sauce, candied pecans, whipped cream and a cherry on top.More

Wow, that a jewel and a treat! If it was this good on New Year’s Eve, I can only imagine how great it is on a regular Saturday night.....Can’t wait for my next trip to Chicago find out! Even the finest restaurants can struggle on...the holidays in on e area or another, but Francesca’s held up. Service was perfect, food outstanding, AND we could actually talk and hear each other (which is becoming rare in restaurants). I could go on and on, but you’ll think they paid me ;) It was our first time here, but we intend to dine at least once on every future trip to Chicago — a true pleasure!More

Went with friends to a wonderful meal during restaurant week at Francesca’s on Chestnut. Greeted by Manager, Nicole, thanking us for coming. Don’t get that at even the best restaurants. Impressive! I ordered off the restaurant week menu. I got glass of smooth wine, finest...salad, sumptuous salmon, and decadent warm chocolate cake w mint ice cream and fudge. All this at a very reasonable price. Delicious! Joe, the other manager, checked on us through out our meal and asked if everything was good and to let him know if we needed anything. Very impressive! The atmosphere, the food, the service, the cost can’t be beat. Love, love, love this dining experience!!!More

Francesca’s on Chestnut consistently provides excellent food, outstanding service, and a relaxing ambiance, both indoors and outdoors. All the staff, particularly our server Francisco Luna, are very welcoming and gracious. Francisco takes special care of providing substitute menu items for any guests who may be...allergic to certain foods. He is a great asset to the restaurant. The restaurant manager, Nicole, greets every guest to make sure their dining experience met their expectations. The entire team has their act together, including Head Chef Manny Ontiveros who continuously provides delicious menu items. Francesca’s on Chestnut is our “home away from home.”More

I enjoy eating here, because it has a great feel to it. It is clearly a family run restaurant that values both the food it serves and the customer. It is unique insofar that it is a venue that carers for intimate couples, small groups...and solo diners. The quality of the food and drink is excellent. And service is first class. Particularly, Tiffany, who is charming and interesting while being efficient.More

I made a reservation for 6/19/2022 @ 6:45 pm which was honored and we were greeted nicely by the hostess and brought bread and water from the wait staff. This was the last contact we had with anyone for 30 minutes until we decided to...leave and spoke to the hostesses. It was as if my wife and I were invisible as others arriving 10-20 minutes later were getting drink orders filled and food orders taken, some had even received appetizers or salads. As a veteran traveler in sales for 40 years I even allowed them extra time due to Father’s Day. I’m sure the food is great, but they need to hire a professional wait staff noting that the restaurant is very highly rated.More

Francesca's on Chestnut is a great place for dinner for both neighborhood folks and visitors to Chicago - consistent food, changing menu, and great ambiance. You can be sure all will be top notch. On nights Sergio is behind the bar be sure to have...a cocktail or glass of wine there before going to your table. Also, his home made Lemoncello is a great way to end your dinner.More

Given the good reviews of this restaurant it wasn’t what we expected. The service was okay but the food was average at best. Perhaps we picked an off night to visit but the aranchini lacked taste and the breaded veal was tough having been over...cooked before being smothered in a bland tomato sauce.More

No matter how good the food is, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth when the server acts like he resents your presence. That is a horrible thing to say, but it is horribly accurate. Returning to the food, it was good but not...great and ridiculously overpriced. While ordering our meals, we asked for more details and the server clearly was not in the mood to help us. I have seldom experienced such rudeness. It would be a stretch to call it customer service. When we got our bill the tip options pre-loaded into the card machine were all well above the amount we were prepared to give. I entered a tip and the server took the card machine away without saying anything. We are not fussy people but this was not acceptable. We will not be back.More

Dined at Francesca's recently while on a short weekend stay in the Windy City. Able to get seating down in the basement, which reminds you of something you would see in Sicily. The bruschetta was fresh and wine selection had many choices. The Conchiglie alla...Carrettiera which is Shell-shaped pasta sautéed with ham, peas, and wild mushrooms in a tomato cream sauce was a big hit with plenty of flavor! The Penne alla Diavola was Sautéed with capers, black olives, garlic, and oregano in a spicy tomato sauce was great but a bit saltier than normal. Love this place and the service was better than some who would have reviewed.More

There are a lot of Italian restaurants nearby. It is one of the higher rated restaurants offering live music and good selection of Italian food. Prices seem in-line with other Italian and French restaurants and the food quantity is also reasonable. So what is the...catch? It somehow feels like assembly line - food came out in about 5 minutes. So I guess I have to try other dishes before giving any verdict; though the Halibut dish and calamari were pretty good.More

I loved Francesca's on Taylor Street where I quite often went to with my late Italian-Chicago born wife. I had a coupon from that time and thought to use it on Nov. 1., with a friend to try Francesca's on Chestnut since Taylor Street had...closed for good. I should have rather the coupon let expire than to go to that unpleasant cold, impersonal place to get frustrated by an annoying waitress who constantly disturbed us with pushing us through to have drinks and meals ordered. She presented the bill at 7:30 pm without that we ask for it, excusing it with shift change which didn't make sense since the restaurant was closing at 9 pm that day. My coupon was quite old and because of not knowing how to check the value on it I assumed that it was the $100 coupon I'd given to my wife. The manager, first trying not have to use the coupon telling me he couldn't check the value either, then came back telling me that there was only $50 on the card. I accepted it without any further discussion just to get out of this unpleasant place. Because of that experience with the waitress who made our stay at the restaurant truly unpleasant I gave only 10% tip instead of the 20% I normally do. The waitress 'fixed this issue' by reading $18.42 instead of the $13.42 I clearly had written on the credit card receipt. Even I would get a coupon for a free dinner from that restaurant I wouldn't go there again just to get frustrated with the cold atmosphere and an unprofessional personal, even that the food was good.More

The carpaccio antipasto was beautifully presented, and one of the best ever eaten. Two pasta dishes—one with lamb sausage and the other with asparagus and mushrooms—were delicious, as expected. The third, was a special order for a diner with allergies and sensitivities; the waiter and...kitchen were most accommodating, and that linguine dish was enjoyed to its fullest. The sundae dessert added to the fun.More
