Janet Stewart

Bringing 20 years of journalistic experience to CBC, Janet Stewart has hosted CBC News Winnipeg at 5, 5:30 & 6 p.m. on CBC Television since 2007.

She was nominated for a Best News Anchor Gemini alongside accomplished anchors such as Peter Mansbridge. CBC News Winnipeg, the show she helps write and produce, was also nominated as Best Newscast in Canada.

After moving to Winnipeg from her native Nova Scotia more than 12 years ago, Janet has immersed herself in the city and is proud to call Winnipeg home. She has made connecting with the community one of her top priorities, lending her time and energy to many organizations.

Janet studied journalism at the University of King's College in Halifax. She went on to report and anchor for CBC Radio One, CTV and Global in Nova Scotia, before moving to Winnipeg in 2001.

Mitch Peacock

Mitch Peacock has co-hosted CBC News Winnipeg at 5, 5:30 & 6 p.m. on CBC Television since 2010 alongside Janet Stewart. Mitch has also been the local sports reporter for CBC News Winnipeg and CBC Radio One since 2008.

A rinkside reporter for Hockey Night In Canada, Mitch's highlights include games at the Bell Centre in Montreal, a Stanley Cup playoff series and any Winnipeg Jets game at MTS Centre.

Outside the rink, Mitch has served in a variety for roles with CBC Sports including co-hosting network coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, play-by-play of the IAAF World Junior Track And Field Championships, and World Cup skiing in Lake Louise.

Prior to joining CBC, Mitch was an anchor with the Fox Soccer Report and worked extensively on CBC's coverage of Major League Soccer.

Before turning his attentions to television, Mitch spent three-years as host of Calgary Flames Radio, hosted sports talkradio, and called hundreds of games in the AJHL (Alberta Hockey League), BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League), WHL (Western Hockey League), and ECHL (Premier 'AA' Hockey League).

An avid athlete himself, Mitch played collegiate soccer at SAIT in Calgary, Alberta and university hockey while attending Queen's in Kingston, Ontario.

CBC Meteorologist John Sauder provides Manitoba with daily comprehensive weather reports on CBC News Winnipeg at 5, 5:30, 6 & 11 p.m. on CBC Television. Featuring live Doppler Radar, the CBC Winnipeg Forecast Centre allows John to provide the most reliable forecasts, storm tracking and weather warnings.

John's love of all things weather started when he was the young son of a fighter pilot. His Dad would return from work in his flying suit with his helmet under his arm, to John's inquiring mind, wondering what is was like to fly through those clouds.

John eventually learned to fly and became Winnipeg's only pilot/traffic reporter on radio logging almost 8,000 flying hours over 10 years.

He earned a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2007, achieving an Academic Excellence Award. He is endorsed by the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.

John has also earned the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for Weathercasting, and holds the seal of approval for broadcast meteorology from the National Weather Association. John is also the Honorary Colonel of the 402 "City of Winnipeg" squadron, so Winnipeggers will probably see him around town in a flight suit or Royal Canadian Air Force uniform.

John and his wife Kim are an active couple who love the outdoors. They enjoying camping, kayaking, golf, tennis, hiking and in the winter take part in snowmobiling and downhill skiing.

Marjorie Dowhos

Host of CBC News Winnipeg Weekends on CBC Television and also a reporter, Marjorie Dowhos joined CBC Manitoba in 2010. Prior to that, she spent four years in Thunder Bay, Ontario as a TV news anchor. Marjorie has worked as a television and radio journalist across Western Canada in communities such as Medicine Hat and Fort McMurray, Alberta, and also Fort St. John, British Columbia.

Born and raised in Calgary, Marjorie graduated from Athabasca University with a degree in Professional Arts in Communication Studies and a diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Proud to call Winnipeg home, Marjorie enjoys exploring everything the city has to offer with her husband Ian, and their two dogs, Payton and Jackson.

Sean Reynolds

Host of CBC News Winnipeg at 11 p.m. on CBC Television, Sean Reynolds was born and raised in Manitoba where he spent the majority of his journalism career. Starting with CBC Radio One, he spent two years reporting and producing before making the jump to a hosting role.

His path to television news was anything but ordinary. On his way to a career in education he decided to try his hand at construction, a job that would take him across Canada and eventually lead him to open his own roofing company.

After stops in the Northwest Territories, Calgary, Prince George and finally Golden, British Columbia he followed his love of sports to chase a career in sports journalism. Sean graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto before taking his first paying journalism position at Sportsnet.

Taking a job with Global Television brought him, full circle, back to Winnipeg and finally to CBC in 2008.

Caroline Barghout

Born and raised in Toronto, Caroline has always had a love for news. She graduated from the Television and Radio program at Seneca College, and began her career co-hosting an Internet radio talk show. Since then she's worked in Radio and Television at various stations in Oshawa, Sudbury and Toronto. In 2007, Caroline headed west to Winnipeg and now calls the Prairies home.

Reporting is more than just a job to Caroline. It's a passion... and an honour to be trusted to tell stories that matter to people who share them with us.

Jill Coubrough

Jill Coubrough is a videojournalist for CBC Manitoba, telling stories from across our south-western region.

She has covered several natural disasters and most recently brought Canadians coverage of the Brandon-Souris by-election and the Lisa Gibson case.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Jill graduated with a degree in politics from the University of Manitoba, before earning her degree in journalism from the University of King's College in Halifax.

Meagan Fiddler

Meagan graduated from Academy of Broadcasting with honours in 2009 and began as a researcher with the Aboriginal People's Television Network that same year.

She worked as a reporter and fill-in host with APTN until moving to CBC in January, 2013.

"I'm proud to say that my family is from Garden Hill First Nation where my grandfather is the eldest elder of the community.

I have two kids and a husband, and call East Selkirk home. "

Ryan Hicks

Ryan’s passion lies in telling under-reported stories and going wherever they take him. He has told stories from around the world and across Canada, where he’s reported from Montreal, Charlottetown and Ottawa. He was also a producer with CBC's Power and Politics with Evan Solomon.

Angela Johnston

Angela Johnston is CBC's network producer in Winnipeg. She has covered breaking news for the network including federal byelection results and Idle No More protests. As a local reporter, Angela broke stories. She secured Mark Stobbe's first sit-down interview following his high-profile murder acquittal. She previously trained reporters with Journalists for Human Rights in Accra, Ghana, where she helped cover stories ranging from cholera outbreaks to forced evictions. Angela has also reported for the CBC in Saskatchewan.

Nelly Gonzalez

I was born in Monterrey Mexico and moved to Ontario with my family when I was three.

I began my journalism career in Toronto working behind the scenes, helping the assignment desk at Global Toronto. In 2000 I moved to Peterborough, Ontario to take on a job as anchor/reporter at CHEX TV where I learned to shoot and edit my own stories.

I moved to Winnipeg in 2003, joining CBC Manitoba in November of 2011. Since then, I have covered many stories for both radio and television in the Westman area as the Brandon reporter.

I consider Winnipeg home, and I was very excited to come back to the Winnipeg newsroom in the summer of 2012.

I have a 6 year old son named Patrick. We both enjoy going to the movies at least once a week. And we like to spend our Manitoba summers near a lake!

Marianne Klowak

Marianne has more than 20 years of experience in journalism at CBC. She started at CBC Saskatoon in 1989, working as a television reporter as well as producing documentaries. Her experience includes tv anchor and early morning news broadcaster for CBC radio. Marianne has fielded enterprising stories in the areas of health, education, and spirituality. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a teaching degree in english and drama.

Cameron Macintosh

Cameron MacIntosh is a reporter for CBC National News in Winnipeg.

Over his career Cameron has reported extensively across Canada and has been dispatched on foreign assignments including the battlefields of Afghanistan.

Cameron is a graduate of Red River College and has also been based in Calgary and Regina.

Katie Nicholson

Katie Nicholson loves digging into good stories and meeting the people behind them. She has covered everything from toxic mine waste in Lynn Lake to the Ochre Beach ice wall and the Phoenix Sinclair Inquiry. In addition to her role as a local reporter, she serves as a weekend network reporter filing for The National. Before joining the Winnipeg newsroom, she worked for CBC in St. John's and Fredericton. When not on assignment, she can usually be found in a kitchen cooking for friends.

Karen Pauls

Karen Pauls is an award-winning journalist who has been the national radio news reporter in Manitoba since 2004. She has lived and traveled across Canada and around the world to do stories for CBC. She has filed from Hong Kong and Washington, and covered the Royal Wedding in London in 2011. Karen was the correspondent in Berlin, Germany, for three months in 2013, covering the selection of Pope Francis in Rome. Before Winnipeg, she worked for CBC in Halifax and Toronto. Karen has been included in “Canada’s Who’s Who” 2010 publication, but says one of her most challenging assignments is that of “Mother.”

Jillian Taylor

Jillian was born and raised in Selkirk. Her family is steeped in Manitoba fur trade history. Besides growing up two kilometres from Lower Fort Garry, her great grandfather sailed from the Orkney Islands as a ship captain of the Hudson's Bay Company. Her family married into the Cree community and she is a member of the Fisher River Cree Nation.

Jillian holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Winnipeg, majoring in Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications.

She joined the CBC Manitoba team in December 2012. Prior to that she spent five years working in Winnipeg news at APTN and CTV.

Jillian is also a contributor for CBC Aboriginal. You will frequently see her using the hashtags #cbcmb and #cbcaboriginal.
