Downtown Punta Cana has a lot of places to visit: the mall that has many popular stores and restaurants. And next to that, there is the Ikea home store as well. Nice area with many great people too

We love this place, its our second time here. It’s amazing and all the staff are lovely - especially Nelson Cabral the bar tender on the beach. He really looked after us and made sure we always had whatever drink we wanted. Thank you.

Went on a trip near the shopping mall to a cigar factory, we were told we couldn’t go to the mall on that trip even though it was only minutes away

Mostly Banks and 2 Average size supermarkets. Banks have unusual opening hours which don't resemble the opening times on the doors.
Supermarkets are very expensive . Plenty of choice just costly. Worth a visit ; No.

We travel the world, mostly frequently the places with the best beaches! We are not the "stay on the resort" types. We enjoy asking the hotel staff, "where do you go to shop or out to eat"? Then we catch a cab and check out the area. **The people of Punta Cana are just the most dishonest of anywhere we've been! It's sad, but that's the best I can say. I could talk for much too long, but in short the souvenir shop vendors are just plainly dishonest! "How much is this" and the answer is "Oh you no worry, the more you buy the better price I give you". Which is NOT a good answer and doesn't mean a good price. They think that tourists are gullible and will just pay whatever, because they need to make $50 today and all in one sell, if that is what it takes. We even walked out of a restaurant because the price on the menu said $33 for lobster. Then the waitress comes back with 3 live lobsters and says this one 45, next one 55 and then 65??? WTH - So now we have to haggle when the price is on the menu?? We got up and left! Went back to the resort and ate the buffet that night. Beautiful country and beautiful beaches. It's a shame, but NOT GOING BACK!

....and even then do not come here.
That was the case with us being 5 days in Punta Cana and beforehand 4 days in Puerto Plata. 9 days in a golden cage was too much for me, so we went here with our rented car to have a change and see what's there. What a waste of time.
Few shops open in the mall, overpriced despite New years "sale", few eateries and that's it. Was very happy returning to my hotel.

We entered and went out immediately. They are not properly applying the biosafety measures, from the entry door to the shops and businesses inside. We think it´s not safe to visit right now.

Don't waste your time going here unless you simply must have Wendys, KFC or Burger King. There is a Coco Bongo here but I would never go to one of those either. The shopping mall is not very big with the best business being the grocery store. It will cost you $40 roundtrip to come here as well.
However if you wish to see security guards at every bank and gas station carrying short pump action shotguns then this is the place for you.
