A couple in our party are on post holiday diets to chose this place. It is all vegan/vegetarian but if you think you want meat you won't be disappointed. Menu items are clearly labeled vegan/vegetarian as a few selections contain egg. I got the Veggie...Citrus "spare ribs" which are in "..." on the menu because the "steak" is actually tofu but if I didn't know it I would have thought it was melt in your mouth tender steak! The brown sauce was delicious. We also got spring rolls as an app which were delicious! The waiter was pleasant but very rushed...slow down man! They have a nice selection of wines but are not what I was used to, not to worry I told the waiter what I liked and he made a couple suggestions and even gave me a taste of each to decide.More
I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan and I had no issues eating here and had no problem finding something to eat. We dined here on a very busy Friday evening and we were lucky to get there before the wait list began. We began...with the steamed vegetable dumplings. Very tasty. They came 6 to an order. Thin shell and plenty of stuffing. My daughter and I each had the Thai Ginger Noodles at varying heat levels and my wife had the Singapore Noodles. The staff will ask you how spicy you want your dish. Each dish was temperature hot, fresh, and very tasty. The portions were perfect. I can eat with the best of them and I was very satisfied with the portions. Each dish came with tofu which I hadn't had in a very long time. The service was excellent and very friendly. The prices were very reasonable considering you are eating in downtown Portsmouth. This was an excellent change from overpriced fried seafood. There were parking lots in the area and very limited street parking.More
We thought we were heading in for an early lunch at just past 11:30 and assumed it would be empty, but the restaurant started filling up five minutes after we were seated. I had the Tofu Tikka Masala and my girlfriend had the Pineapple Brown...Rice. Both were delicious and a large enough serving to take some home. Will definitely come back some other time to try out other dishes. The descriptions sounded wonderful, difficult to choose.More

When you're looking for a good vegetarian meal, Green Elephant is the place to go. They mainly are an Asian/Thai food menu based restaurant that everyone will enjoy going to. For those in your party that aren't the biggest 'veggie fans', not to worry, they...will never taste a difference. The kitchen also gives you the choice of spice level on your food which is great for those who have a zero spice tolerance and for those who like their mouths on fire. It is a little bit pricey but most definitely worth it.More

It’s so nice to be able to order anything on the menu! The staff is always super friendly. It’s a perfect mix of casual/comfortable and slightly upscale, making it a nice date spot. They have affordable alcohol options too, a lot of them local. The...tofu fillet (not really sure the exact name on the menu) is one of the greatest meat imitations I’ve ever tasted. This place is amazing for Vegan, Vegetarians and Foodies of all types. It is truly a gift to Portsmouth. Every single dish is incredible and bursting with flavor! They also have great cocktails and the entire staff is knowledgeable and friendly and always smiling!!
This place is excellent. It is my favorite restaurant. I normally get the Dream Siamese Curry. I can’t stop eating it. We also get the eggplants and chive dumplings for appetizers. It is so good especially with soy sauce.They serve a lot of food. The...food is very healthy and you can to pick on a scale 0-4 how spicy you want the food to be. My dad gets the pad Thai without and loves it. I eat the tofu in my curry and it is amazing in my opinion. I tried a little and loved it. My mom got a Mock-tail that tasted like pineapple and it was amazing. The staff are also willing to help you and are very nice. I love that they have all vegetarian foods and the menus labels what foods are vegan or gluten free. We never had a problem with waiting either. We got our food and drinks pretty quickly. You should definitely try this place soon and I am coming back one day. If you have really sensitive ears like me, I would recommend asking to sit away from the bar so it is quieter.More

Busy restaurant that takes the COVID protocols seriously. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The food was well prepared and tasty, without being superb in our opinion. For example, the fresh spring rolls could have used more mint to really lift it or using green...beans/long beans in some of the curries vs broccoli which just goes soggy would help make their dishes better in our opinion. It is still a good option for dinner and we enjoyed our meal there. Portions are large so go hungry ! Cocktails were okay and they have a short but well priced wine list.More
We ate here while we were on a road trip through New England. Boy are we glad we knew about this place! The food was delicious. The service was adequate. Their local beer and cider were really good too. We ordered the green curry, tempeh...salad with tempura asparagus, and Kwai tyou. Every thing was delicious and healthy and well presented. Would definitely go again if we lived there!More
Our first time here, and we'll return. Very flavorful food. The pineapple brown rice is especially good. We got take out. Our food was thoughtfully packaged and in a sturdy take out bag with handles.
The Green Elephant is a wonderful vegan/Thai restaurant located on the first floor of the Hampton Inn hotel in downtown Portsmouth. We tried the peanut curry and the tofu tika masala and both were excellent. An additional benefit was that the portion sizes were much...larger than what you normally get in a Thai restaurant. Our server was friendly and engaging. The prices weren't cheap, but they are fair. All in all, highly recommended.More
