William Dedrick is the new principal of River Oaks Elementary a Vanguard Magnet and International Baccalaureate World School.
Mr. Dedrick most recently served as Dean of Students at Sharpstown International, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for grades 6 - 12. He has served as an instructional coach, campus leader and is rooted in the IB framework as a former IB Primary Years Programme teacher; and is the first principal of Rivers Oak ES to have IB experience in grades K-12.
Mr. Dedrick earned two Master’s degrees from the University of Houston – most recently in Education Administration and Supervision, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.While serving as a PYP teacher, Mr. Dedrick discovered his passion for interdisciplinary learning and truly believes in educating the whole child. He has coached, mentored, and trained teachers on enhancing student engagement, incorporating instructional technology, building strong classroom foundations that foster creative and rigorous learning environments, and creating sustaining relationships with students. He has also designed and managed enrichment programs for hundreds of students, ranging from weekly after-school engineering design challenges to team robotics programs. As a secondary campus administrator for the last 7 years, Dedrick has led math, reading, and project-based learning, resulting in multiple years of positive student progress. He is passionate about supporting students in special populations and served as the Intervention Assistance Team Liaison and Special Education Administrator. As a master musician, Mr. Dedrick has also enjoyed the privilege of leading Fine Arts programs.
In his free time, Mr. Dedrick enjoys spending time with family, traveling, music and frolicking with his sweet corgi, Georgie!
