Richard Kind is a treasure

I just needed to post this message, that Richard Kind is a comedic genius. No one does impassioned banter like him. The best in the biz. I know this is a limited series, so John, if you're reading this, give Richard is own talk show soon. Blessings.

"Am I bad at singing and acting?" cracks me up everytime I watch it.

Thank you so much! I watched a bunch of these years back, but didn’t make it this far. This one looks very promising!! (Side note my favorite DN! was Juan’s Chicken and Rice)

Stairs in either direction are a nightmare!!!

It's so good, right? The original doc it's based on was always a favorite of mine, so it's twice the chuckle count for me.

Kind and Mulaney are theater nerds so they make a great combo doing a musical parody

That is the absolute best Documentary Now.

No one can convince me this won’t eventually be the first Netflix ‘late show’ and Richard will be John’s Steve Higgins.

Netflix has had late shows before but not live. Only reason I don’t think this becomes permanent is because John has said before he definitely does not want a permanent late night gig

u/crp2103 avatar

how long ago did he say that? perhaps his opinion might have changed now that he has a kid and might value stability and not having to tour?

Shortly after when he and Andy filled in for Jimmy Kimmel unexpectedly.

u/rockabillychef avatar

He did say he is thriving with routine and structure right now. Maybe a weekly show?

More replies

I don't think they could even do it as a permanent thing, given all the work that goes into each episode. It'd be cool if they did it every year for the Netflix is a Joke festival though.

Soon we will say Steve Higgins is Fallon’s Richard Kind.

Richard Kind is such a New Yorker that it's hilarious he's on this LA show. I removed a Citibike from a full rack on the UWS a few months ago when he was looking to dock one. He saw me walking up & asked Are you taking out a bike? I replied Yes I am Richard Kind. Normally I do not acknowledge celebrity, but I was happy to have a two sentence conversation with this man.

Haha, that's great. A friend of mine was the preschool teacher to one of his kids. 1) She said the kid was hilarious. 2) Richard Kind was the most normal of all the celebrity parents she had to interact with.

I freaking love him in Sack Lunch Bunch. So fun to see him working with John again

If anybody watches Girls 5 Eva (which I highly recommend), Richard Kind has a wonderful mini-plotline as himself in the latest season.

He has the perfect level of fame

Him asking “have you ever gone down on a relative?” from his game lastnight really caught me off guard hahah

Did you blush?

u/OldManMcCrabbins avatar

We did beastie boys shit

Giggle like a French schoolgirl lol

What? It's from the naughty pack.

I laughed so fucking hard at that. John's reply of "Jesus CHRIST!" was the icing on the cake.

His game was hilarious last night.

"Do you give a shit about catching a foul ball?" Destroyed me.

It's fun! THIS IS FUN!!!!

I’ve always adored Richard Kind but I never would’ve thought to put him with Mulaney. A duo I never knew I needed! They’re so great together

I really didn’t know how amazing he was. This show has shown me. 🥰🥰🥰

u/RaygunsRevenge avatar

I've said this before, but in Korea, he is known as "Sad Fatso."

Who knew American Dad played well overseas?

My 12 year old loves Richard Kind specifically because of the Sack Lunch Bunch!

u/billleachmsw avatar

He was excellent on Broadway in The Producers after Nathan Lane left the show.

Oh wow, that must've been amazing. Was Broderick still there?

u/billleachmsw avatar

No…it was like a Spin City reunion…Alan Ruck was in Broderick’s role. He was great too.

u/latrodectal avatar

that feels correct.

That's some brilliant meta casting.

He's a fantastic character actor. I first noticed him in the movie A Serious Man years ago.

Funny enough, if you're not watching the screen whenever Kind and Mulaney banter, it sound like Marty and Andrew Glouberman from Big Mouth which they both voice act on. 🤣

It’s amazing how much he’s been in for 30+ years without people really recognizing him. Whenever I hear his voice my mind does this whole inner-monologue over where I recognize him from.

“Scrubs! No, Burn Notice! No, Spin City! No, he’s Bing-Bong! No…”

Anyone ever heard George Clooney talk about living with Richard Kind and all the pranks he pulled on him? I think he talks about it on either smartless or Conan needs a friend but it’s truly hilarious. Also agree Richard Kind is underused in comedy!

u/HotBeyond654 avatar

Was just about to comment this!!! It's on the Smartless podcast. I was laughing so hard listening to it!

There is no show without Richard Kind, good casting.

Whenever I see Richard Kind in something, I just smile. Love him

This is correct.

u/littlecreamsoda79 avatar

I love him. If he's in it, I'm watching

I live really close to a studio where he must have been shooting, and I used to run into him in my neighborhood Starbucks pretty regularly. He would always buy coffee for other people in the line. Just a really great human being.

u/AllLipsNoFiller avatar

I just want to keep upvoting this over and over and over again. Because Richard Kind is absolutely a treasure.

I never had such confidence in creating a reddit post. Never!

All of Richard Kind’s appearances on Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast are great.

u/ObviouslySteve avatar

Kind has had so many bits on the show that had me rolling while the guests and even the audience seemed incredibly confused. I can’t get enough of him

It seems as if he’s been adopted by hip comedians

u/Soccermom233 avatar

I liked when he yelled at the guy who offered him DMT

The only good thing that’s come out of Trenton, NJ

u/4thlinedangler avatar

This might be a hot take but am I the only one who finds he sucks the comedy out of the room? I feel like Richard Kind is an actor who know how to play a funny guy but isn’t actually that funny. I had to skip the episode when he did that fake acid bit
