The New Mexico Military Institute is a good school to go to if you're trying to go into the army or into a service academy and need to buff up your scores. This school however is also a a major school. Although there is a very high "military-esc" environment, many of the athletes are given a much broader leeway than just your average student. Campus life can be a bit crazy too as the campus houses both college and highschool cadets. Overall, the academics are great however for a majority of the classes.
Going to this institute has made me quite unhappy. This place has taken me away from all of my loved ones and made me hate myself. The adults and "TLAs" had made my experience unbearable as they ridicule you for any slight inconvenience that you bring to them even though that is what they are paid and on the clock to do. Overall the friendships you get here is one of the ONLY redeeming parts of this school. They kicked out my dearest friend Byler Bsosie and Fidel Mukeh and it has hurt me deeply, as they think the solution to all of their problems is to kick out the cadets.
I spent a year at New Mexico Military Institute. I followed in my Uncles footsteps. I joined the Constabulary and became an old cadet and wore my Uncles bars. The food was good on campus especially on Sunday when you could get custom omelets made. There were a couple of things I would have liked to have seen change was the hazing of new Cadets. As of currently I believe the Commandant needs to be changed out and a better relationship built with the alumni.
