Gil Da Ran is a high school teacher who got injured in an accident at a wedding. During the time of treatment, she falls in love with the doctor Seo Yoon Jae, and they are about to get married. One day, a cynical transfer student, Kang Kyung Joon, becomes Da Ran's student. When Kyung Joon rides Da Ran to the outskirts for relaxing, Da Ran receives a call from Yoon Jae, telling her that he wants to meet her. An unexpected accident happens to both Yoon Jae and Kyung Joon on the way to their destination. When Da Ran rushes to the hospital, she hears that Yoon Jae has passed away. Meanwhile, Kyung Joon wakes up in a morgue and is shocked to find out that he is in Yoon Jae's body. He sees Da Ran and tells her that he is actually Kyung Joon but she does not believe him.

Gil Da Ran is a high school substitute teacher and is engaged to doctor, Seo Yoon Jae. However just before the wedding, Yoon Jae and her student Kang Kyung Joon gets into a car accident and switched souls. Da Ran wants Kyung Joon to temporarily pretend to be Yoon Jae and obediently stay with her. After a series of events, Kyung Joon accidentally discovers many unknown secrets about Yoon Jae and also gradually falls in love with Da Ran.

Kyung Joon is very moved by Da Ran's love confession, but it leaves her family apologising to her in-laws. Da Ran's family forbids her to go out because the person she loves is not someone they expect. One year later, Mari tells Da Ran that Kyung Joon and Yoon Jae have already gone back to their normal life, and they lost their memory from after the car accident. Da Ran meets Kyung Joon on his birthday in the same way that they encountered first time. After Da Ran tells him that she loves him so much, the two of them smile while looking into each other's eyes.

Kyung Joon worries that the soul exchange will make him forget everything, but he still decides to return to Yoon Jae's body. After Kyung Joon wakes up, he loses the memory from after the car accident. The memories that he created together with Da Ran are lost, making her very upset. In actual fact, Kyung Joon pretends to lose memory in order to keep a distance from Da Ran. Da Ran runs to the dining hall where two families have gathered. She confesses to them that her heart belongs to someone else and declares that she had fallen in love with Kyung Joon.

Mari takes away the watch that Kyung Joon lost at bar so that she can completely cut off his love attachment to Da Ran. Da Ran is happy that Kyung Joon goes back to look for his watch, but is surprised to see that he throws away the watch box while tidying the room. He even decides to sell his house. Kyung Joon promises to go to Germany for treatment alone, secretly deciding to go far away. To persuade Kyung Joon to stay, Mari has no choice but to inform Da Ran to come to the airport. Da Ran confesses her love to Kyung Joon. On the day of treatment, Kyung Joon faints while they try to draw blood out of Kyung Joon's body.

Mari learns that Kyung Joon is Yoon Jae's younger brother; his father tells Mari that he had his reasons for hiding the truth from Kyung Joon. Hye Jung decides to use Kyung Joon, who is still in a coma, to cure Yoon Jae again. Se Young tries to inject Kyun Joon's body and draw some blood to cure Yoon Jae. However, Kyung Joon returns to his body briefly because of it and finds out that Hye Jung is his biological mother. Meanwhile Da Ran finds out that Yoon Jae's father is Kyung Joon's biological father. Da Ran decides to wear back the ring, and hopes that Kyung Joon will consent to the treatment for his illness.

Yoon Jae's father cannot give up Kyung Joon again, but Hye Jung insists that he should make a choice. They visited Kyun Joon at the hospital, under the condition that he will not tell Yoon Jae the truth. Later, he tells Kyun Joon's uncle and aunt that he is Kyung Joon's birth father and is planning to take him away. Later, Kyung Joon gets a sudden splitting headache and faints. When Kyung Joon is awake, he fears that he will disappear at any time. He tells Da Ran sadly that he hopes she can remember his Kang Kyung Joon identity. Da Ran thinks about her relationship with Kyung Joon and bought a watch for him bearing his initials. Later, Kyung Joon confronts Da Ran about her feelings towards him and they kissed.

Surprised that her husband still keeps Hee Soo's photo, Hye Jung is also dissatisfied that he comes back from abroad in order to look for Kyung Joon. She asks him not to mention Kyung Joon to Yoon Jae. Kyung Joon and Da Ran go to Professor Park's exhibition. Da Ran finds out that Yoon Jae previously left the wedding where they first met to meet Professor Park and not Se Young. Hye Jung gives Da Ran an elegant wedding gift, and admits not treating her well. Upon hearing Da Ran saying that she is still lacking to be qualified as her daughter-in-law, Hye Jung changes her warm attitude. She coldly asks Da Ran to leave Yoon Jae if she knows her own inadequacy.

Da Ran goes to the cinema with a sense of loss. When she sees Kyung Joon, she is so happy that she accidentally spills her feeling to him. Se Young inadvertently learns that Kyung Joon may be Hye Jung's son, so she secretly takes some hair on Hye Jung's comb to do a DNA test. The test result shows that Yoon Jae's mother and Kyung Joon have a mother-child relationship. Hye Jung admits that Yoon Jae was sick but she cannot have children to heal him. So she ask Hee Soo, who is in love with her husband, to be a surrogate. She then asks Se Young not to tell Yoon Jae the truth.

Kyung Joon feels dizzy at the airport and his soul returns to the body in the hospital for a moment. He takes Da Ran to the hospital but finds his body still in coma. Da Ran is worried that the soul will suddenly swap again so she cancels the honeymoon. Yoon Jae's mother finds out that he had cancelled the honeymoon due to a patient called Kyung Joon; she recognised the name as someone she is looking for. Mari gives Yoon Jae's belongings to Da Ran, asking her not to mix Yoon Jae up with Kyung Joon. Da Ran starts to feel an attraction towards Kyun Joon.

Da Ran is anxious to stop Mari from telling her parents know about the soul swap, but she accidentally let them see the ring on her hand. Choong Shik runs away from home after a fight with his mother. Mari deceives Da Ran into looking for him in the underpass sleeping area. Kyung Joon is worried about Da Ran, so he hurriedly rushes to find her. He reveals that it was his own fault that his mother died. Da Ran comforts Kyung Joon not to blame himself and proposes to him. They both agree that if Kyung Joon's soul does not swap back after he turns twenty, they would live their own life separately.

Mari figures out the soul swap; Kyung Joon refuses Mari's approaches by claiming that the body belongs to Yoon Jae. She is so anxious that she asks a shaman for help to get their souls back to their own body. Hyo Sang confesses his love to Da Ran but she is rejected him. Although Ae Kyung promptly resolves the awkwardness, Hyo Sang is sad. Kyung Joon receives the ring that Mari finds in Yoon Jae's box. He lets Se Young try the ring but it did not fit, so he is relieved to know that it is not meant for her. After much thinking, he ask Da Ran to decide if she wants to be with him, promising that he will not love her as long as she still wears the ring.

Hye Jung continues to make a match between her son and Se Young, hoping to make her son recover his memory. Kyung Joon begs for help from Da Ran, using a friend's wedding to pursue her actively, which makes people misunderstood that they got back together. Da Ran refuses to help Kyung Joon, afraid that facing Yoon Jae's face would make it hard to forget about him. Kyung Joon is dejected and leaves. To his surprise, he sees Mari sitting in the living room when he returns home. Mari discovers that Yoon Jae is afraid of blood just like Kyung Joon and gets even more suspicious. Mari confirms her suspicion when she hears Da Ran calling Yoon Jae as Kyung Joon.

Yoon Jae already has plans to go to Los Angeles and the fact that he wants to break up with Da Ran breaks her down completely. Se Young says Yoon Jae runs out of the wedding because he knows that she just breaks up with her ex-boyfriend. Yoon Jae's mother returns home from abroad to visit her son, but she finds his attitude strange, thinking that Da Ran causes the mother-son relationship rift and is approves postponing the marriage. Da Ran pays no attention to Kyung Joon's love confession and proposal. He decides to return to United States with his mother, and claims to have lost his memory during the accident. Da Ran and Kyun Joon bump into each other one year later.

After Mari learns that Kyung Joon is unconscious, she begins to notice Kyung Joon's doctor, Yoon Jae, and his abnormal behavior. Da Ran finds Yoon Jae's close contacts message with Se Young in his phone recently. As Kyung Joon's uncle and aunt intend to sell his house, Kyung Joon withdraws all Yoon Jae's property in the bank in the name of Yoon Jae so that he can regain the house that his mother buys for him. Kyung Joon meets Se Young while still in Yoon Jae's body and talks about the key. Even knowing that relationship between them is still complicated, he cannot stop Da Ran from finding out the relationship between Yoon Jae and Se Young.

Se Young visits Yoon Jae and takes the opportunity to express her love but is rejected. Kyung Joon is dissatisfied by Yoon Jae's cheating on Da Ran and decides to speak out the truth, but Da Ran says she trusts Yoon Jae. Kyung Joon receives messages from Jang Mari that she has arrived in South Korea and will go to school to find him, so he hurries there to stop her. Se Young mentions that Yoon Jae chooses to marry Da Ran out of compassion, but Yoon Jae's friend refutes that and said that Yoon Jae has noticed her for a long time and even asks for an introduction, which makes Da Ran very delighted.

Da Ran thinks that Yoon Jae has not regained consciousness yet. Seeing a series of uncharacteristic behaviour, she finally believes he is Kyung Joon. Kyung Joon's uncle and aunt come to visit his body that is still in a coma. Kyung Joon sadly looks at them taking the cash from his wallet and discarding other things, showing no concern to him at all. When he comes home and finds the discarded wallet that Da Ran pick up for him, he decides to go to her home to thank her. Luckily, Kyung Joon's casual behaviour let Da Ran's family feel more cordial and welcome his sudden behavioural change. Da Ran and Kyung Joon go to Yoon Jae's house to pick up some belongings.
