Yesterday, I discovered something really interesting about “random answer” characters. (American servers)

Other

I’m pretty sure all of us on the American servers know about the characters that pop up whenever you answer randomly. J10B100, Old Golden Freddy, Bee Sister, and the like.

However, recently I have discovered that there are way more actual characters out there that seem to have completely messed up answers. I don’t know how many there are, but I assume there are at least three times as many of them that don’t show up very much at all without insane precision compared to the ones that show up all the time. They pretty much all are platinum or black and all have thousands of guesses.

There’s a forum post from 2012 that I stumbled upon while taking research on these characters that talks about the characters that showed up when you said only one of the answers. Only one of the characters (Ashley Wsfd for yes only) is still accurate to this. I’m not sure if the ones for probably and probably not even exist anymore, but what I do know is that the ones that still exist (Jeremy Hillary Boob for no and The one about whom nothing is known for I don’t know) seem to have been “phased out” by other characters. This also appeared to happen to characters with mostly random answers.

That really makes me think; why does this happen? What causes some characters to stay how they are and what causes others to get phased out? I feel like I only know half of the answer to this, but I feel it has to do with people today either being obsessive or finding the character funny in some way. These thoughts line up completely with characters like OOF, Mr Pineapple, all of the FNAF ones, all of the Pokemon, all of the Rage Comic ones (f word in the title of the characters), Bee Sister (Japanese culture), and J10B100 (kpop culture), but at the same time, if these are the reasons that others got phased out, then why didn’t Jeremy Hillary Boob and “GOD DAMNIT” stick around? Why aren’t characters like Dennis phased out yet? It just doesn’t really make much sense.

Anyways, if you want to see some of these characters for yourself, the pattern that I used to find most of the characters was saying don’t know twice at the start, starting out with either one or two yeses, and then you keep on counting up to four, switching to the opposite answer whenever changing numbers. Anytime I came across a question that seemed too new for when the character was in its prime, I just said no to it and reset to one yes. This probably isn’t the best way to do this, so make sure to experiment. If you actually want to get awards from these characters, make sure to be accurate to whatever their actual answers are too. This isn’t really viable at all for winning leaderboards because tracking characters down can be really hard when you have to worry about traps. It’s more so just interesting.

On the Dutch server they’re pretty easy to get, but not so much on the English.

I had noticed the same quite some time ago as well, I’m still figuring out a good method to get them.

I want to be able to access the character database so badly.

Ashley Wsfd isn't even a real character...(probably, could be lost media.)

I don't really consider Ashley Wsfd and the like to be "random" characters considering that they're all one of a single answer, but they still are phased out like actual randoms. As for whatever she actually is as a character, I guess it was either submitted to the system by an UTAU artist that went by that as an alias or maybe by the author of someone who named a song they made in the program as such.

An UTAU artist...hmm, didn't think of that. I did some research on her before, but there is basically no information on this character (or, as you've just pointed out, possibly someone's username). In fact I found this thread just by googling for Ashley again.

What I know is that Ashley replaced the character "A smart guy who presses 'Yes' (that would be you)." Which is really sad. All of the answers used to have a fitting response if you picked only that answer, but they just go to nonsense now. :(
