2023 Chevrolet Tahoe Interior Review

The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe has a well-built cabin with plenty of room for cargo and passengers, an easy-to-operate infotainment system and comfortable seats. There’s an excessive amount of hard plastics in lower trims, but it’s a pleasant place to sit, even in the third row.

Scorecard

  • Interior 8.3
  • "Matching its outsized exterior, the Tahoe's cabin is vast, with huge room in all three rows and correspondingly great passenger comfort." -- CNET (2022)
  • "Controls are generally easy to use, from the responsive and simple standard 10-inch infotainment touchscreen to the large buttons and knobs in the center stack. The push-button transmission is a little odd, but is easy to adjust to." -- Autoblog (2022)
  • "The area behind the third row seems like it could fit the entire inventory of an airport mall’s luggage store." -- Kelley Blue Book (2022)

Cargo

The Tahoe has excellent cargo capacity for a large SUV. There’s 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 72.6 cubic feet behind the second row and a maximum capacity of 122.9 cubic feet. The second- and third-row seats fold flat to maximize space, and the Tahoe’s low load floor makes it easy to stow and remove heavy and/or large objects.

A power liftgate and a hands-free power liftgate are available.

  • "The Tahoe's cargo hold is cavernous, clocking in at 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row. Drop the split, power-folding backrest and this SUV serves up 72.6 cubes' worth of room. Fold the second-row chairs, which you can also do at the push of a button in the cargo area, and you're treated to 122.9 cubic feet of space, more cargo-hauling room than a Ford Expedition Max, which competes with the larger Suburban." -- CNET (2022)
  • "Behind the third row seats, the Tahoe has 25.5 cubic feet of space, an improvement of 10.2 cubic feet. That's theoretically about a 6-cubic-foot advantage over the Expedition on paper, but in practice, we found the actual difference to be negligible. Still, it's a genuinely large space for a three-row vehicle." -- Autoblog (2022)
  • "What About Loading People And Stuff? This has never been easier in a Tahoe because its load floor has never been lower or flatter. The third-row seats motor down and up at the touch of a button (either from the front overhead console or the rear compartment, and partially lowering and raising these seats drops their headrests out of your rear view)." -- Motor Trend (2021)

Seating

The Tahoe can seat between seven and nine people, depending on configuration. Cloth upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat come standard. Leather upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, heated second-row seats and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel are available.

There’s no shortage of passenger room in the Tahoe. All three rows provide adequate space for adults, though taller folks may find the third row to be a tighter squeeze. The seats are comfortable throughout, but some critics find them to be firm and lacking sufficient side bolstering.

For installing child safety seats, there’s a complete set of LATCH connectors for each second-row seat and a tether anchor for each third-row seat. Models with second-row captain’s chairs have two complete LATCH connector sets.

  • "That third row may be a bit flat, but even tall adults have loads of room to sit quite comfortably for extended periods of time." -- Autoblog
  • "Space is generous in all three rows. Even back in the third row, where there’s 34.9 inches of legroom. The (sliding) second row has a similarly expansive 42 inches." -- Kelley Blue Book (2022)
  • "You can still feel ruts and bumps in the road surface, transmitted as very subtle vibrations through the steering wheel and seats. On a long road trip this could contribute to some fatigue, but otherwise it's very easy to live with. The minimal wind and road noise only helps matters." -- Edmunds (2021)

Interior Features

Standard features in the Tahoe include an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, Bluetooth, voice recognition, a six-speaker audio system, six USB ports, tri-zone automatic climate control, two 120-volt household-style power outlets, remote start and proximity keyless entry.

Available features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch touch screen, navigation, wireless device charging, a second-row entertainment system, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system, a panoramic sunroof, a universal garage door opener and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The Tahoe’s infotainment system impresses thanks to an easy-to-grasp touch screen, quick input response times and plenty of features. An array of physical buttons and knobs control audio and climate functions.

  • "The ability to connect a smartphone to a vehicle’s infotainment system is great, yet kind of taken for granted these days. The 2023 Chevy Tahoe goes one better by doing without a cable connection, so users can keep their phones in a pocket or purse." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The interior’s new Android-powered infotainment system is easy to use and fairly future-proof thanks to over-the-air updates and integrated Google Maps." -- Autoblog
  • "Climate, audio and navigation controls are refreshingly easy to use, with a combination of voice recognition, 10.2-inch touch screen, and most important, buttons and dials for frequently used audio and climate settings" -- The Detroit Free Press (2021)
