THERE ARE a lot of demands on your money right now, The Voice Newspaper understands this. But we’re sure you’re doing your best to put some pennies aside in order to snare some tickets for the upcoming UK tour featuring Motown legends, The Four Tops, right?

What may incentivise you further is the news that they will be joined by Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, together with Tavares.

It’s been a year of returns but this autumn will see the classic performers come together to tour six UK cities including, Liverpool, Cardiff, Manchester, Hull, Glasgow and Bournemouth.

The Four Tops and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas came from seminal label Motown and are two of the most commercially successful American pop music groups of all time, having sold tens of millions of albums and influenced generations of artists and music fans. 

Vocal quartet The Four Tops helped propel the Motown label to global success. 

Led by the group’s remaining original founding member Abdul ‘Duke’ Fakir, joined by Lawrence Payton Jr (son of original member Lawrence Payton), Ronnie McNeir and Alex Morris. 

Martha Reeves & The Vandellas

The group had major breakthrough hits with ‘Baby I Need Your Loving’, ‘I Can’t Help Myself’. Other hits include ‘It’s The Same Old Song’, ‘Shake Me, Wake Me (When It’s Over)’ and ‘Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever’, ‘Standing In The Shadows Of Love’ and ‘Bernadette’, with ‘Reach Out I’ll Be There’ released in 1966 and the group’s biggest Motown hit.

Martha Reeves has made history with her legendary Motown girl group, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas. 

2023 was the 60th anniversary of their first two albums ‘Come and Get These Memories’ and ‘Heat Wave’, which spawned a string of hit Motown hits in the ‘60s and ‘70s such as ‘Dancing in the Street’, ‘My Baby Loves Me’, ‘Come and Get These Memories’, ‘Nowhere to Run’, ‘Quick San’, ‘(Love is Like a ) Heatwave’, ‘Jimmy Mack’ and ‘Bless You’.  Martha continues to perform both solo and with the Vandellas, who are her sisters Lois Reeves (since 1967) and Delphine Reeves. 

Tavares are a hugely successful American R&B/Soul group, now touring as a quartet led by original founding members Perry ‘Tiny’ Tavares and Feliciano ‘Butch’ Tavares. They are most loved for their international smash hit ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’, with other hits including ‘It Only Takes A Minute’, ‘Don’t Take Away The Music’, ‘Whodunit’, as well as ‘More Than A Woman’, which was written for Tavares by The Bee Gees and appeared on the Saturday Night Fever movie soundtrack and earned Tavares a Grammy Award.

Martha Reeves & the Vandellas said “It’s always so exciting to perform for our British fans, we can’t wait to be dancing in the street in the UK this September!”

Tavares said “The UK holds a special place in our hearts. We have always enjoyed touring the UK throughout our career and we look forward to performing for our loyal UK fans this September.”

The tour promises to be sell-out shows when tickets go on General Sale at 10am on  May 10.
