I have been here since 2005, paid over $240k in rent.I have to wait 45mins for a 2min unhelpful conversation. I have loud neighbors, Marijuana smell, strong incense that causes me to be nauseous with the windows closed, floodings, roaches ,rats. My kitchen looks like someone went to a garbage dump and selected my cabinetry, stuck drawer. Once water was in the kitchen wall, they knocked it down and put back the same ugly worn out cabinets. Plastered one coat of paint and that was it. 2yrs ago DOH had to be called about stench in the subbasement . But I must pay for windows fixed, counter tops a keep the rust filled cabinets . Yet every year scaffolding goes up, new trucks, and golf carts. The outside of Parkchester looks beautiful, but inside old and rusty. I am disabled due to several autoimmune diseases, my conditions requires that I stay as stress free as possible. I went to service dept in person, called property/ service manager, to no avail. So I need to make my case known.
Don’t rent here. Since management changed about 6 years ago Parkchester has really turned into a criminal Establishment and try to bully you out. It’s constant banging, no real repairs just cover ups. There might be mole underneath the paint job. I saw another review that said that they think they put stuff to make it stink or to create more bugs. They do! Don’t think they are your friends. If they don’t like you they will try their best to make you feel uncomfortable and use tents to do the same. You know why because legally they you can’t sue a tent for things. Only with them. If you see you neighbor with things that go against the lease proceed with caution. They are more then likely the ones in on it as well. Document everything, know your laws and don’t be afraid to get help. Don’t rent here!
One of the relatively safe parts of the Bronx, in my opinion. Of course, that just makes it harder for anyone to move in, since almost all the apartments are taken. Still, there's no shortage of food to eat or stores to visit, or trains and buses that'll take you just about anywhere. Raised around there and been so for most of my life, so it isn't that special to me, but the fact that people will often come from other parts of the Bronx just to do shopping here sometimes should tell you enough.
