As a freshman at the University of Iowa, I’ve encountered both exciting and challenging moments. Here’s a glimpse into my experience:
What I Liked:
Campus Community: The sense of community here is remarkable. From dorm life to student organizations, I’ve connected with diverse peers who share my passions. The camaraderie during football games and late-night study sessions has been uplifting.
Engaging Courses: The variety of courses offered surprised me. Professors are passionate and approachable, making learning enjoyable. Exploring subjects beyond my major has broadened my perspective.
Hawkeye Spirit: The pride associated with being a Hawkeye is contagious. Whether it’s cheering at Kinnick Stadium or participating in the Dance Marathon, the spirit unites us all.
What I’d Like to See Change:
Mental Health Resources: Coping with stress and homesickness can be tough. Expanding mental health services would provide essential support to students.

One of the university's strengths lies in its academic programs. It offers a wide range of majors and disciplines, providing students with diverse opportunities to pursue their passions and interests. The university is known for its strong programs in fields such as creative writing, business, engineering, and healthcare, attracting students from all over the world. Another aspect that makes the Unversity of Iowa great is its vibrant campus life. The university offers a rich and engaging student experience with numerous clubs, organizations, and extracurricular activities. From sports teams to cultural clubs to academic societies, there is something for everyone to get involved in and make lasting connections with fellow students.
My experience at the university of Iowa has definitely been a unique one. I knew I was going to attend Iowa from a young age since both of my parents attended the university. Even though I am following in my parents path, I knew I was going to make my own individual experience and memories and do college my own way. My experience at the University of Iowa has been great so far. I have met many life long friends and have made countless memories. My experience also started thriving when I joined my sorority. At first I was hesitant about joining my sorority, but I now see that it was one of the best decisions of my college career. Joining my sorority helped me create lifelong bonds and friendships while also serving our community. Another thing that enhanced my experience at Iowa has to be the student culture, especially at big sports events such as football games. All of these things and more helped enhance my experience and I cant wait until I can create more memories at this college.
