John Anderson Wall Street Journal Competition provides narrative; TV needs narrative. And it is engaging enough, if you ignore the rampant banalities in the color commentary. Jan 11, 2023 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media But despite the fact that these folks are playing for cash and sponsorship, the overall series does a great job of highlighting why rock climbers are passionate about the sport, and the sense of personal satisfaction it brings them that no money can buy. Rated: 3/5 Jan 25, 2023 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Unless you’re really into rock climbing, or watching other people go rock climbing, there isn’t a whole lot that this show can offer you. Brandon M Where as many reality competition shows focus on drama and gimmicks to spark intrigue, this no-frills show stands out for showcasing wholesome comradery within the climbing community and the passions individual use to face their own inner obstacles. A feel good competition show with beautiful scenery and down to earth individuals. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review Johnson P Rough... the story and camera work is fairly poor. Seems like this show started with a great idea and then sort of fell apart over the course of a year. What could have been shot in a couple of months seems to been dragged out over a longer period. Due to that, it feels like production just tried to finish the show instead of keeping the energy flowing between episodes. Some of the edits show poorly framed action where you cant see the hands or feet of the climbers on a 6'ish move boulder problem. Instead you get these awkward upper torso closeups that make you feel lost in the moment. There is hope that future generations of climbers will figure out how to blend professional climbing into the mainstream media with better storylines, but we just aren't there yet..... and some of the onscreen talent is to blame. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review kelli y As a 5ft climber, seeing Cat on the show was a huge inspiration to me. I'm always super frustrated when I can't finish a route simply because I'm not tall enough. Seeing him send so many times was truly eye-opening for me. I highly recommend this show to people who need a little motivation to improve their climbing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/23 Full Review Paul B How does a show come off as super cool and entirely superficial at the same time? Dunno, but the hippy-dippy, zen bullshit coupled with over-the-top contestant support for one another kind of negated the entire competition. Where's the fire? ... "I really want to win blah blah, but it's ok if I don't." This show watched like an extended participation trophy ceremony to the point where I didn't care at all. Love that Sharma was always introduced as "living legend", no ego there at all, when he didn't act like a total dick to Decco. Great advertisement for the sport and beautiful locations, but there's plenty of room for improvement. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Final l This Show may not be for everyone, but I believe it is one of the best competition shows out there. It gives us a whole new glimpse into the rock climbing world, and it is very inspiring. It's a fresh new idea that hasn't been done before and I must say I keep coming back for more Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Brian S Great show, visually appealing with great editing; fun to watch.
