- Bob TBellevue, Washington40 contributionsA Lifetime ExperienceWe got up at 01:00 a.m. to make a reservation for the Highgrove Garden Tour and Tea, and looking back, it was totally worth it. Check in was easy and then we were treated to a 1.5 hour tour of the garden by a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We learned a lot not not only about the garden but the King's active involvement in not only defining the garden, but his occasionally dropping by the tour guides and gardeners to give them insight and stories about Highgrove. We enjoyed the tour immensely. Tea on the patio was one of the highlights of our trip to England. A beautiful setting, delicious tea sandwiches and sweets, and first rate, extremely friendly service. England clearly has many fine gardens but none can really match the overall experience that we had at Highgrove. Go if you have the chance.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 June 2023
- Christine L150 contributionsFabulous gardenFantastic garden tour ! Such a beautiful and inspiring garden with lots of personality ! I’ve never seen delphiniums that tall , Showstoppers !!! Cream tea in the cafe was just as delightful . Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience .Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 June 2023
- Sandra T21 contributionsGarden lovers delightThe whole garden tour and experience exceeds expectations. The gardens that have been developed from open fields over the years are a wonder to see, and wander through, with exceptionally knowledgeable and entertaining guides. The whole experience of arriving, security, starting and undertaking the tour is so well organised, with a small group size to enable you to make the most of your trip. If you get the chance, this is a memorable experience for garden lovers, and well with the visit.Visited July 2023Written 5 July 2023
- malcolm fLichfield, United Kingdom246 contributions100% recommendation100% recommendation. Greatly enjoyed our 90 mins trip around the garden with Jane Archer today. Lunch was also excellent. The Gardeners Plate & Rhubarb Victoria Sponge were well presented, fresh, with some innovative touches. Thanks to all staff.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 July 2023
- Steve25_12Esher, United Kingdom242 contributionsInteresting TourAlthough the weather was overcast , threatening rain, we had a very interesting and informative 90 min tour around these gardens. The layout was spectacular but unfortunately we were too late in the year for some of the more colourful flowers and meadows - timing is everything in visiting gardens. We shall undoubtedly visit again , probably in the spring next time, but as you have to book so far in advance you never know what the weather , or flowerings , are likely to be when you arrive. Our only major disappointment was not being able to take photos for "security reasons" and the cost of items in the newly opened gift shopVisited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 July 2023
- JF1953Bristol, United Kingdom69 contributionsA Father’s Day treatWe came for the Fathers Day lunch. The food was delicious, as was the glass of champagne. There was a demonstration of Panama hat making by Lock & co, a barber shop set up by Truffitt & Hill and a Highgrove shop set up in the ante room. The atmosphere was friendly and delightful. We have been visiting Highgrove gardens for 20 years now and always have a wonderful time. The customer service is second to none. Highly recommended!Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 July 2023
- PATRICIA FShoreham-by-Sea, United Kingdom79 contributionsFabulous tour disappointing afternoon teaGarden tour with champagne tea. Our garden tour was amazing we thought the gardens were fabulous our tour guide Was very informative and made the experience very interesting. Unfortunately the afternoon tea was a disappointment. Lovely glass of champagne then it went downhill from there ! The 2 finger sandwiches each were not that fresh cream cheese and smoked salmon and very small triangle of coronation chicken, very unpleasant A couple of scones then a very small mixture of pastry and cake. Such a shame after a most tour.Visited July 2023Written 29 July 2023
- caroline BPortsmouth, United Kingdom125 contributionsOutstandingVisited here as I’m a keen organic gardener and was blown away! The gardens are magnificent, the customer service from the car park, to the tour, to the restaurant to the shop was outstanding! The champagne tea was stunning too. The shop was a little expensive but that didn’t stop me buying a few gifts for myself! Will definitely be back and cannot recommend enough. Thank you HighgroveVisited July 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 July 2023

- Happy Travels4 contributionsDelightful Private TourWe enjoyed a delightful private tour with Tracey, who was friendly, engaging and informative, and who further enhanced the beautiful gardens with interesting anecdotes. Everyone we encountered at Highgrove was helpful and friendly, the food in the Orchard Restaurant was delicious, and the newly opened shop definitely worth a visit for mementos and much more. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and one we would repeat in a heartbeat.Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 3 August 2023

We found every part of our visit first class, from the way we were dealt with at initial entry to reception, guided tour, restaurant and shop. Everyone was friendly, efficient and helpful at a level we would expect at this type of attraction. We thoroughly enjoyed our champagne cream tea and our special dietary requirements were fully catered for. The guide Rob had a pleasant and knowledgeable disposition edged with a dash of humour. Well done to you all.

The garden tour did not disappoint and our guide Harriet was incredible. Sadly, the same can not be said about the afternoon cream tea. The experience was woefully lacking in taste, freshness, colour, quantity, service - and we were clearly on the ‘clock’ to be hurried out for the next ‘sitting’. The scones (the main event) were inedible. As I was treating my guests I did not wish to embarrass them at the time so wrote to ‘customer services’. After getting a ‘holding email’ I have - despite a few more chasing emails - not received any further response and we are 8 months on. The organisations tactic is to ignore you for long enough and you’ll just give up/go away - I surrender (this is my last word). There is no customer service, no after care and the impression left is one that the organisation just does not give a damn. My advice is; visit the gardens and then head straight into Tetbury to one of the many good quality eateries where your custom will be valued.

My wife and I visited Highgrove last year and we very impressed. We booked tickets for a return visit in May as soon bookings were opened. Two days before our visit my wife, who is disabled, was taken ill and we had to cancel. As if this wasn't bad enough, Highgrove, who were "incredibly saddened" to hear this would not transfer our booking or issue a refund quoting T & C's. Yes, I know I agreed to them but, c'mon folks, where's your compassion?

We thoroughly enjoyed our guided garden tour of Highgrove with Maggie. Very friendly, informative and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, our son was wingwalking for charity and we had to rush off after the tour to video him and take photographs. We will visit again in a different season whilst in Cirencester.

Really lovely garden tour with Jane. You do need to take note about the security arrangements before you go. All the staff were lovely. Interesting very colourful spring garden. Easy paths, a bit muddy in places. Nice shop.abd restaurant. I didn't want a full lunch so it would have been nice to have small plate options. Also 3 courses are quite expensive. No photos in the garden which was disappointing but understandable. Plenty of parking. I would go back to see it in summer, it was beautiful.

Amazing gardens. Unfortunately the amount of rain recently had turned much of the ground to mud but there was still a good show of spring flowers. We hope to return later in the year and see the gardens in more favourable conditions. That said, we had a beautiful sunny afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
We had a late lunch in the restaurant and decided to go for the full three courses. It was expensive but we just thought 'what the hell, this is the home of the King!!' The food was excellent and the staff were lovely.
The shop was interesting and had a good selection of quality souvenirs priced from the outrageously expensive to the more affordable, and there were several 'specials'. All the profits from shop sales and the restaurant go to charities supported by the King.
In summary, don't come here for a cheap day out, come for a memorable visit and learn a lot about the interests, talent and passions of our King and Queen.

Wonderful spring walk with lovely staff. Grave disappointment for all of us who were looking forward to afternoon tea at 4 with scones and other cakes. This is no longer served. Instead there is a full lunch menu featuring roasts. We were so sad and the waitresses had very little to do.

Amazing garden (well, gardens really), despite it being too early for a lot of the colour. There's still lots to see and enjoy. Good tour guide. Only disappointment was the change in menu at the restaurant, so no cakes / scones any more, you can only have lunch. Not sure the rationale for this, but meant we just had tea.

I tried to organise a group visit, but found this was simply not practical. Although we had 26 members of our u3a group wishing to go, I could not reserve a day in order that members could make a firm booking. It would be unreasonable to ask for £55 per person without abeing able to give them the date of the visit. Customer services said thatfull payment must be made at the time of booking. A Catch 22 and we will find somewhere else to go with a more service oriented approach.

Hello, I wanted to ask. Is it necessary to get a garden tour or can I just walk around the gardens. And are there any group tours that can be booked on arrival??
Good morning,
All Garden Tours must be booked in advance. Visitors on the tour will be led by one of our expert garden guides.

Contact the Highgrove web page for the answer to your question. I always stay at the Hare and Hounds Hotel whenever I visit the gardens, as it is only 2 minutes up the road in Westonbirt.
