Brother of tenor sax player Red Prysock.
Best known for his live shows and his baritone influenced by Billy Eckstine.
Between 1944 - 1950 he was the main singer of Buddy Johnson's band.
From 1952 he started a successful recording career for Decca.
In 1965 he recorded for Verve Records, his collaboration with Count Basie.
In the 70's, he had several disco hits, produced by John Davis (5).
