Most Valuable Washington Quarters We're used to seeing Washington quarters because they're still in circulation, but even these modern-day coins can be worth something.
Washington quarters were first introduced in 1932 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth. While the design of these coins has changed over the years, they continue to be minted and used in daily transactions.
The rare quarters on this list are certainly old but can still be found more easily than other valuable collectible coins. And their price may very well be worth the search.
10. 1932 P Washington Quarter Value up to: $180
The 1932 mint of the Washington quarter was the first of its kind. At 5,404,000 made, over 80 percent of these coins were struck in Philadelphia. This means that, while this coin has some collectibility, it's less valuable than those struck in San Francisco and Denver, which are some of the rarest Washington quarters available.

9. 1935 S Washington Quarter Value up to: $240
The last year the mint adjusted the quarter dies was 1935. With Washington quarters well in circulation, 32.5 million coins were minted in Philadelphia, with another 11 million split between the Denver and San Francisco mints.
The San Francisco location minted 5,660,000 of the coins that year.

8. 1940 D Washington Quarter Value up to: $288
The 1940 D Washington quarter, minted in Denver in 1940, had a run of 2,797,000. Made from 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper, it is generally worth more than its face value due to its silver content.
Its value depends mostly on its condition. An uncirculated coin can be worth several hundred dollars or more, depending on its grade.
7. 1936 S Washington Quarter Value up to: $332
The 1936 S Washington quarter is not as rare as some other coins from the series, but it is still considered a valuable and desirable coin for collectors.
The San Fransisco Mint produced 3,828,000 of the quarters, and they were the first to be run with the standardized die.

6. 1937 S Washington Quarter Value up to: $388
By 1937, with more than enough Washington quarters in circulation, the U.S. Mint reduced overall coin production almost in half. Philadelphia produced a little under 20 million coins, and Denver produced about 8 million.
San Fransisco produced the smallest number — 1,652,000 — which makes its run the most valuable of that year.
5. 1935 D Washington Quarter Value up to: $555
Since 1935 was the last year the U.S. Mint made adjustments to the dies, there were large production runs of Washington quarters.
While Denver-minted quarters are still somewhat available, in gem (uncirculated) condition, this coin is very hard to find.
4. 1934 D Washington Quarter Value up to: $960
Washington quarters from 1934 were struck in Philadelphia and Denver, but none were struck in San Francisco.
Philadelphia struck 31,912,052 coins, while only 3,521,000 were minted in Denver that year. With so little Denver-minted coins in circulation, they are a rarity today.
3. 1936 D Washington Quarter Value up to: $1,248
The first series of the quarter to be run with the standardized die was in 1936. Mintage runs in that year were similar to those of 1935 in that there were fewer coins produced, with 5,374,000 coins minted in Denver that year.
In circulated condition, this coin is worth at least its weight in silver.
2. 1932 S Washington Quarter Value up to: $4,425.60
As previously mentioned, the 1932 coins mark the first year of the Washington quarter series, and over 80 percent of the quarters were made at the Philadelphia Mint.
That means less than a million of the coins were minted in San Francisco and Denver. This makes them some of the most valuable Washington quarters to collect.
1. 1932 D Washington Quarter Value up to: $12,611.40
If you have a 1932 D coin, you have something quite valuable. The total mintage for the 1932 D Washington Quarter was just over 436,000 coins.
The quarter is also highly sought after by collectors due to its historical significance and rarity. As it was released during the Great Depression, many pieces were melted down for their silver content, making the surviving coins rare today.
A circulated quarter can be worth several hundred dollars, while an uncirculated coin can be worth tens of thousands of dollars or more, depending on its grade.
