Watching boardwalk empire for the first time question (s1)

When agent Alden sends money to his wife for the big operation she gets upset and tears his note up. Isn’t this what she wanted? Why is she upset?

Yes I get that he was stealing money from jimmy to get the money but there is no way his wife could have known this?

He didn’t send her money if you look at the cutaway shot he actually, because of his guilty conscience, sent all the money to Jimmy’s wife Angela.

You should leave and not come back until you're done watching the series.

There will be spoilers. People won't do it on purpose. It happens

Yeah that’s my plan . I’ll binge this over the next couple weeks. It’s a complicated show and the first couple episodes I was mixing characters up with each other.

Also I don’t get how jimmy’s mom looks to be about the same age as he is. I don’t buy that he is 22, but his mom looks like she’s 30, not a wrinkle on her.

She had Jimmy when she was like 12. Keep watching it goes deep into their history and relationship

Ok that’s weird as fuck . But ok

It actually wasn't that uncommon then. One of my aunts was 13 when she had her first child. My family is older, my grandparents married in 1925 and had 9 kids, my mother was number 8.

Imagine being this lucky bastard about to meet Barney Google for the first time in a couple seasons.

Do you have any idea who the fuck I am!?

He didn't send her money. He sent her a letter with some biblical references that annoyed her since she wanted the operation so she could get pregnant and give birth to his son.

Van Alden was holding all the money that Jimmy was sending to Angela from Chicago, but instead of using it to give his wife what she wanted, he eventually sent it to Angela, which is shown when she opens the envelope full of money from what Jimmy was making working for Torrio.

All his wife knew was that he was a bible-thumping prick who didn't give much of a shit about her not being able to get pregnant and dismissed her whenever she brought it up.

Pro tip: Don’t start it.

After season 2 the show declines. After Season 3 it is absolute dogshit

I loved every season. To each their own. I like the Sopranos and the Wire better but find this show more rewatchable to be honest.

It’s a great show so far

First two seasons are PHENOMENAL. Like addicting.

Finished my first watch last night

I find it’s better on a rewatch. It’s interesting if you watch it from the perspective of the person involved in the final scene with Nucky. (Trying to not spoil anything.)
