깃털 Feather – 국카스텐 Guckkasten Guitar Tab

깃털 (or Feather) – a track on Korean indie band Guckkasten’s second full length album, “Frame” – wasn’t a song that immediately appealed to me when I was listening to the album at first.

It was only recently when I came across a video of Ha Hyunwoo (the band’s frontman and vocalist) playing the song acoustically, that I got attracted to the song.

It tells how much attention the band puts into the arrangement of their songs. Although the chords for this song are simple, the song arrangement is intricate. Love it.

Definitely check out how Ha Hyunwoo plays the song, and it’s possible to play it like he does.

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Here’s a head start with the basic chord structure of the song.

Here’s a tip: the chord Dsus4add13/F# may look complicated but it’s not. It’s simply

E---2--
B---0--
G---0--
D---0--
A---0--
E---2--

Also, check out Guckkasten’s live performance of the song from this very well edited clip pieced together from different live performance clips:

The lyrics are beautiful too, which was written by Ha Hyunwoo after he read Shin Hyung-chul’s “The Collapse of Ethica”. He’s been called a rocker poet, and he’s certainly deserving of that.

I have not found any English translation of the lyrics for this song yet, so I did the translation myself. It shouldn’t be too off.

Feather

In a far away distance
A bad dream left to be told
Quietly

It’s excruciatingly cold here
There is no one like me
Not even you

A drawn out yesterday and incessant noise
Longer traces of the wind and wings of song

Fallen through the sky
Where there is no path left
Filled with fog here
Abandoned in the wind
Fallen into this place without sufferings
Why couldn’t the broken you

The days that had long gone
The beautiful one left alone
Melted into a puddle in my eyes, like this
