Bethlehem Central Senior High School Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 216 reviews
Overall, my experience at Bethlehem Central Senior Highschool was positive. The opportunities and resources available were impressive and important to take advantage of. They offer an expansive list of diverse, specific classes, especially those in higher education (AP courses). Many amazing teachers cared about us and our lives as students. Personally, I took advantage of the music and art departments which were notable parts of my experience. There, I was able to pursue my interest in foreign languages fully and earned my seal of biliteracy in the French language by my senior year. I also was able to participate in many clubs. By my senior year, I was president of Best Buddies, Guerrilla Art Club, and created a program to teach 5th graders French. As long as you are willing, there is so much opportunity to excel at Bethlehem.
Bethlehem High school has essentially forced my student out of school by not addressing bullying and refusing to offer mental health services (they were on a 504 plan). My child has never had any disciplinary issues at school. I was told from a counselor at the high school that "we've been directed not to provide your child anymore resources". Our lawyer has advised us that they have broken some laws and now, after months of limbo, they are finally showing some sort of attempt to help us get the resources we need - though it just seems like they are going through the motions to cover themselves. They could have shared this information months ago but instead waited until lawyers were involved. I can't help but feel as though they gave up on our child and pushed him out the door as their mental health/counselling staff are overwhelmed - one less kid to deal with... I don't understand all the high reviews. I have serious reservations about sending our other child here when its time.
I went to BCHS for all 4 years of high school, and I am very grateful I did! I felt like the school did a great job of preparing me for college, especially in my junior and senior year. The school has plentiful resources and I always felt like I could get help if I asked for it. The only part of the school that I think could stand to improve is the diversity, but since it is a public high school, the student population just reflects the community population.
