A seminal snapshot of early 90s hardcore and a real grower. It takes real work to make a complex album like this sound so easy

A brilliant snapshot of the early 90s hardcore scene, imaginitive and relentlessly energetic from start to finish. It is very of its time, but that only adds to its charm. Fully recommend!

Hands down, one of the greatest techno albums of all time. Total stompers from beginning to end. No filler. This is the epitome of early to mid 90s rave. And as far as this style of music goes nothing has ever surpassed this release.

Messiah is one of those bands before the 2000's that slowly faded Into obscurity as the years went on. Their second album, "Progenitor" sadly didn't do too well, and they disappeared shortly after.
However, before Progenitor, there was 21st Century Jesus, and that album had all of the singles that made Messiah such a big deal back in the day. "Thunderdome","Temple of Dreams" and all of the other songs on this album are absolutely fantastic and are a must-listen if you haven't heard of Messiah before.

There are actually two versions of 21st Century Jesus (Something I didn't realise till attempting to buy this album) One UK version (And subsequent European versions that are identical) and the US version, which is easily spotted by it's simpler white album cover design. In terms of quality, both are fantastic, however the song layouts are slightly different. The UK version includes "Desire" and interludes "Defiance" and "Age of The Machine", whereas the US version scraps "Desire" and adds a new single named, "You're going Insane" and forgoes the interludes. Also to note, on the US version of the album, many of the songs are slightly different, with the song "Thunderdome" being very different and much, much heavier.

I cannot recommend Messiah and this album enough, it really is a shame that they disappeared. This album is worth your attention!

There Is No Law is a slightly different version from the single with less vocal and a few different arrangements but almost identical.
Temple Of Dreams is 4:28 here so it's neither the radio edit nor the full length version previously released but something in the middle.
Destroyer is also different from the versions released in the original 12" and the Manix Remix 12". I Feel Love and 20.000 Hardcore Members are completely different versions altogether.

All of these album versions are uncredited.

Once in a while an album of a genre comes along that is Absolute Masterpiece. 21st Century Jesus is just that. From the CD case artwork to all of the sampling, it's timeless continuous play album that is always fresh at every listen. The whole album keeps you on the edge of your seat and you never know where Messiah is going to turn next through this electronic adventure.
A true thrill ride of hard beats and acid house, it will not disappoint any true fan of eletronica. Be sure to listen to the last track all the way through...... "There is no law"
