Q: Will the bottom of the fire pit leave a burn mark on the wood deck or trex decking?

A: If using your fire pit on a wood or trex deck we recommend purchasing the Bonfire Stand that goes underneath the fire pit. When paired with the Stand, you can use our fire pits on a wooden deck safely. The very bottom rim of your Solo Stove is actually the coolest part of the unit, so a little insulation between your Solo and the surface it will rest on goes a long way. You can find more information on the Stand and the surfaces it can be placed on here: https://blog.solostove.com/when-to-use-a-fire-pit-stand/ We also offer a spark arresting shield for extra protection against popping embers that might find their way in places they don’t belong. Using the fire pit with the Stand lifts the fire pit 2.75" off the ground and the Stand minimizes heat transfer to the surface below.

Q: Can I use any kind of wood?

A: The perfect smokeless flame requires quality, dry fuel. Kiln-dried hardwoods such as oak, or maple have a low moisture content, so they’ll burn at a higher temperature and give your flames a smooth secondary burn effect.

I recently purchased the Bonfire size Solo Stove. I was looking for a fire pit that wouldn’t make our clothes smell like smoke and require a shower each time after using it. Honestly was a bit skeptical, but let me tell you…it works!! Amazing technology. We also added the stand, not because we really needed it, but it raised the height to a perfect level.

I'm not a wine drinker but I get it now- fire pits and booze are a perfect pairing. The ash pan make clean up a breeze, at least I assume so since I haven't heard my husband complain about it once. The kids are perfecting their s'more skills and we have great chats around it in the evenings. It's a lovely way to unwind at home. Plus you get that great outdoorsy smell when you're done.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I filled in my in ground firepit and replaced it with a solo stove. I was shocked at what a difference it made. Fires are much easier to start, require far less maintenance, and of course produce significantly less smoke. I really like the upgraded features of the 2.0 with the ash pan as it makes cleaning out the pit significantly easier. I like to use my firepit year round and I constantly had to dig out the snow from my in ground pit and then it would fill with ice and I had to create a barrier and build a fire on top of the ice. No more, I purchased the lid for the Solo Stove and now I never have to worry about it filling up with water, snow, or ice again. The pit is always ready to go and it serves as the centerpiece for all my BBQs and backyard gatherings.

We love our new fire pit! The bonfire is small but mighty. I did t think it could get any better until we added the heat deflector. Best fire pit we’ve owned by far. Birthday gift for my wife on our patio. Works as advertised! Only smoke was when we started the fire, hardly any when bed of coals developed! Lots of heat even sitting 4 feet away. Burns so efficiently only thing left was ash dust. Burning dry wood is best but it also consumed some marginal stuff right up! The lid is a must have to keep elements out or to snuff it out safely. Very pleased with the purchase!!

That was my biggest issue with the original Bonefire not being able to fully clean out the ashes. I use my Bonefire when camping and load it into my motorhome storage. I do use the carry case to it doesn’t bump ashes all over. I also have many of accessories suck as the heat shield, cooktop and amber cover. The heat shield really works well and spreads the heat out around the fire pit.
