Aston Villa are close to agreeing a deal for goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo, who will leave Arsenal when her contract expires at the end of the season.

Canadian D’Angelo, 31, could join Villa to replace current number one Daphne van Domselaar, 24, who could move the other way.

Arsenal could be forced to pay the £200,000 release clause in Netherlands keeper Van Domselaar’s contract after she joined Villa on a three-year deal in June 2023.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are hopeful Sweden striker Stina Blackstenius will sign a contract extension with the club following the high-profile departure of Netherlands forward Vivianne Miedema, 27.

The Women’s Super League’s all-time record goalscorer Miedema is a target for rivals Manchester City, who are among a number of interested parties across Europe.
