That's all from us folks! Hope you enjoyed this cracker. Until next time then ...

RCB nail thriller

Dinesh Karthik gets a six and a boundary to seal a three-wicket win for RCB. Willey struck them at 64.29 while Rutherford had a strike rate of 70. Still RCB managed to win the game. KKR's slam-bang approach saw them slip but the last-wicket stand helped them go past 120. Which just proved enough on the night. Bowlers from both side did well while the batters left plenty to be desired. KKR have a win and a loss. RCB had a loss and now have win.

Southeeeeee!

Rutherford goes for a big swipe and gets an inside edge. Jackson pulls off a one-handed stunner to remove the left-hander. He then removed Hasaranga to keep KKR in the hunt. Dinesh Karthik key now for RCB. They need 17 off 12.

RCB 112 for 7

Varun Chakaravarthy strikes

It's not been a good night for the spinner but he strikes on his last ball. Shahbaz came down the track and is stumped comfortably. RCB need 28 off 24.

RCB 101 for 5

36 needed off 30

Shahbaz Ahmed has come in and provided some impetus to the innings. Rutherford is set and looking to attack. Dinesh Karthik will come in next. RCB's game surely?

RCB 93 for 4

Narine strikes

RCB just about ahead but KKR have found another opener. Rutherford and Willey had added 45 off 53 but Narine has removed the latter. He wasn't giving away any runs and Willey has chipped one straight to midwicket.

RCB 62 for 4

10 overs done - RCB 59 for 3; need 70 off 60

Powerplay done - RCB 36 for 3

RCB stung early

Umesh comes back for his second over and strikes first ball. Length ball outside off and it was climbing, Kohli reached out away from his body and got a thick outside edge. Jackson grabs another catch.

RCB 17 for 3

And two down

Superb start this from KKR. Remember du Plessis was the Player of the Match the last two times he faced KKR. And Southee has nipped him out now. Length ball and the RCB captain got a leading edge straight to point. Game on?

RCB 17 for 2

Umesh strikes early

A duck for Rawat. A peach of a delivery. On off and kick on from length, Rawat was forced to poke at it and gets a thick outside edge. Jackson bags an easy catch. Kohli and du Plessis now out there to carry on for RCB.

Anuj Rawat and Faf du Plessis walk out to open. How are you feeling KKR fans?

ALL OUT

KKR make 128 but it's going to be a struggle to defend that score. Umesh and Varun scored 27 off 26 for the final wicket to push the score past 100 but KKR were struggling 83 for 7. Russell struck a few sixes but couldn't carry on. Hasaranga got four, Akash got three while Harshal picked two to ensure RCB were able to dominate after opting to bowl.

Russell's carnage ends

Four dot balls and Harshal now gets the big wicket. Short ball and an off-cutter, floated well outside off and Russell throws in a big swipe. Easy catch for the 'keeper and KKR are now eight down in the 14th over.

KKR 99 for 8

Messy

Harshal Patel delivers a wicket-maiden to ensure KKR slip further. Banged in and a slower ball. Billings wanted to swat that to the on side but doesn't connect well. Easy catch for Kohli at long-off.

KKR 83 for 7

Two in two

Sheldon Jackson doesn't read the googly and gets bowled on the very first ball. Goes for a big drive and leaves a big gap. KKR can't seem to catch a break!

KKR 67 for 6

Five down

A second wicket for Hasaranga and now Narine falls for 12. Outside off and the left-hander cleared his front leg to go big. Gets a big outside edge and Akash Deep takes an easy catch at point.

KKR 67 for 5

KKR reeling

KKR batters have refused to adopt a cautious approach and are now four down with Shreyas Iyer falling now to Hasaranga. Full and on the stumps, the KKR captain has smashed it straight to Faf du Plessis at long-off.

KKR 46 for 4

Powerplay done

Akash Deep now sends back Nitish Rana with another short delivery. Banged in and Rana went for the pull once again, doesn't time it this time and gets caught near short fine leg.

KKR 44 for 3

Rahane goes

Short ball and pulled straight to square leg by Rahane. KKR have lost both their openers inside the powerplay after being asked to bat.

KKR 32 for 2 in five overs

Good start from RCB

Willey and Siraj have given just 14 in the opening three overs with just one boundary so far. And Akash Deep strikes with the opening ball of the fourth over. Cramps Iyer for room and the opener spooned a simple catch back to the bowler.

Alright then, Willey will start with the ball. Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer will open for KKR ...

Hello and welcome to the live blog of the clash between RCB and KKR in Mumbai. Before we get going with the action, here's a preview by Kaushik Rangarajan -

It is intriguing how in these times of deep pockets and deeper squad resources, the balance of an IPL side can sometimes hinge so delicately on a single player. Glenn Maxwell is that fulcrum for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Not only is he the chief spin crusher through the middle overs, his off-spin is also a vital counter to opposition stacking up left-handers. Maxwell's absence and the lack of an offspinning backup allowed Punjab Kings to pair Shikhar Dhawan with Bhanuka Rajapaksa to take down a legspinner (Wanindu Hasaranga) and a left-arm spinner (Shahbaz Ahmed) and drive that chase forward.

A similar challenge awaits RCB against the Kolkata Knight Riders, who come loaded with three left-handed hitters of their own in Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana as well as Sunil Narine, who has been RCB's scourge many times in the recent past. How RCB address this matchup battle could well dictate the course of this clash between these two old rivals of the tournament.

While RCB will be naturally disappointed at not pocketing two points despite scoring 205 two nights ago, they do enjoy an enviable bowling depth, at least more than the usual, and should feel more secure once Mohammed Siraj and Hasaranga get into rhythm. KKR, buoyed as they might be with their win against the defending champions, will keep a close eye on their own shaky death-bowling. which saw them concede 47 from the final three overs on the opening night.
