The trailer of Kushi, the long delayed Vijay Deverakonda-Samantha Ruth Prabhu-starrer is finally here, and it seems to be worth the wait. The film was announced way back in 2019 but was delayed due to Samantha’s ill health, who is fighting an autoimmune disease. She joined the film sets last year, and the makers have quickly wrapped up the shoot, and the film is now slated to release on September 1.

Directed by Shiv Nirvana, the film is a romantic drama, and the trailer shows that the film is about the problems in the marriage of the lead couple. The trailer starts with a reference to Mani Ratnam’s Roja, and the setting then becomes something similar to Bombay with an inter-faith love story, and it ends up becoming a modern version of Alai Payuthey.

The highlight of the trailer is the meta dialogue of Vijay Deverakonda who says, “In the market, they might have a different opinion of me but at heart, I am a feminist.”

Other than Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha, the film also stars Lakshmi, Rohini, Jayaram, Vennela Kishore and Sachin Khedekar. The music of Hesham Abdul Wahab has helped the film in a huge way as the song Na Rojaa Nuvve, sung by the composer himself, has become a huge hit garnering a lot of attention for the film.

Meanwhile, Samantha has gone on break from acting. She was last seen in Bali with her friend. The actress has decided to use the time to take care of her mental and physical health and not be part of any movie for a year. She will next be seen in the Indian version of the Citadel series, which is a prequel to Priyanka Chopra’s American version.

Festive offer

On the other hand, Vijay Deverakonda, who churned out a damp squib with Liger, is pinning all his hope on Kushi. He also has two untitled films in the pre-production phase.
