I recommend this resort if you enjoy a smaller place with a personal touch. Everything is clean and staff are always happy to help. The beach is cleaned and organized every morning so early morning walks are super enjoyable. I will be returning to this resort again and i will definitely be asking for Fentons service again. The extra bit for the butler is worth it because its not just a service, its a great personal touch to the resort. They help you with anything you need, answer any questions you might have, give recommendations for shows, restaurants, activities and anything else. I will be back sometime this year, i look forward to seeing Fenton and the Royalton Negril again.
The beach is by far the most beautiful and usable beach we had ever gone to. The depth is great for the kids as it does not get further up to their chest. The sand is clean and the water is turquoise and lovely! There are a lot to do at the beach including FREE kayaks, pedalos. Neil was so helpful there.
The food at the food truck by the main pool is very tasty but the wait is so long you might even have to wait in line for over half an hour.
The buffet has a good variety of food, and it sure does have an excellent baker!
Jordin, the life guard at the children pool, which by the way is so much fun for the kids and very conveniently placed closed to the main pool, was also very friendly! He even gave us all a Rastafarian bracelet!
Getting a towel at the pool is a bit of a hassle as they have limits for every room! So if your towel gets wet during the day, you’ll have to bargain for another one sometimes!
We were at the diamond club and so we had two butlers who were very kind: Diana and Laura-Kay!
The rooms were quite nice and the pillow menu was a blast to have. The rooms were cleaned during the day and before bedtime, they even made the bed and dimmed the lights for us before our arrival to the room at night.
We called a cab, arranged by the butlers, to see the localities around. The driver, Jordan, was very nice and we had fun going to the local markets and all.
One night a guy who made balloon characters for the kids appeared beside the buffet who was the most talented artiest I had ever seen working with balloons! Beside my kids, I was in awe of his work! Amazing!
There is always a show at 8pm for the kids and one later on for the adults! My kids enjoyed the shows so much!
Overall, great stay and I do recommend this hotel one hundred percent!
All in all we had the best holiday of our lives at the Royalton and would like to thank everyone who works there. I have read some negative reviews about the hotel on this site and can't imagine what on earth you could find to moan about!! Its crazy to think anyone would have anything negative to say. If you don't like good music good food glorious views beautiful beaches and overly helpful staff then don't go to the Royalton its not for you lol . I'm glad we never met anyone like this when we were there.
If you want privacy book the hideaway if you want butler service book club diamond if that's your thing fair enough .. but we booked standard package in the heart of the hotel where the tunes played all day the smell of food would make the fussiest of eaters hungry and the staff treated us like royalty.
Will definitely be back
Lots of love guys see you soon

Pros
Friendly staff: I must say I'm impressed because my first time at Royalton Blue Waters 3 years ago went totally different. The staff at Negril are responsive and friendly and it made a difference in the experience. From the front desk to the housekeepers, I must say kudos to the team for their customer service.
Beautiful hotel: the aesthetics have always been a selling point for me. The view was also lovely. I'd suggest they tell swim up guests that there's little to no sun where their pool is when they're upgrading as not all the rooms are facing the sun.
Housekeeping: housekeeping was good. I have no complaints
Cons
Food and liquor: The food was good for the most part. I loved that I got my green juice each morning.
It's Covid-19 so I didn't expect a lot of restaurants to be open. But at least the buffet. The buffet wasn't open for lunch when we visited and it made the lunch options extremely limited, considering we stayed for 4 days. And it wasn't open every night for dinner but the other dinner options were good. For a hotel that brands themself as luxury, I would have expected some more luxury liquors but it seems they want you to pay for diamond club to get those privileges.
Covid-19 protocols: when we arrived, they took our bags and disinfected them and sanitized our hands. I liked that for dinner they had reservations in certain hours so you wouldn't have a crowd.
I noticed a lot of staff wore their masks under their noses, even while serving food and that really made me uncomfortable. They need to enforce this more. I was very annoyed that the hand sanitizer dispensers weren't automatic. You had to push a button. That's very unsanitary in a pandemic. I didn't see any by the escalator nor did I see persons going around disinfecting it or other high touch areas. I went to another hotel during the pandemic and this was something I really appreciated as it made me feel safer
Musty room: the room was beautiful and the amenities were great. However, the smell of our first room wasn't good. This seems to be an issue at all Royalton hotels. I have asthma so I'm sensitive. My first night was horrible because I couldn't sleep in the smell. I had this same experience 3 years ago at Blue Waters but this time the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly and offered us another room. I honestly would've wanted another night because that one was spoilt due to the issue, but alas!
Packages: we were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday and was hoping we would have gotten some comp stuff like cake, etc. We did receive a wine and banners on our door so that was good!
The staff said due to covid-19 they stopped doing certain comp packages like decorating the room but I don't see why it can't be done if they have their mask on and permission is given. They also don't provide any mini comp cakes or anything special in the room like other hotels, so if you're looking for something like that, it's best to check with others first as theirs come at a fee.
I must say though it was the staff that made my vacations memorable. Riccardo, the chef in the Japanese restaurant and buffet really went out of his way to make sure our group had an Amazing culinary experience. He prepared meals for us that weren't even on the menu. He was Phenomenal and provided exemplary customer service. Junior from the entertainment staff stayed an extra hour providing us music long after his shift had ended. He really went the extra mile.
The buffet staff in the fresh fruit section went out of their way to make sure we had fresh mangos and sour sop at our table every day they were available because they knew we loved them so much. I even named one of the staff members Mango Lady. They were all so very nice and attentive.
Paul the lifeguard was amazing too. He saved a toddler from drowning as the mother continued to pay him no attention. Paul went the extra mile to assign another lifeguard to the toddler to follow him around the rest of the day since his mother's interest was towards a man.
My butler Kirk and head butler Bernadine went out of their way also to make sure all our needs were taken care and dinner reservations were made daily. They also assisted with a room change in less than 1 hour after my request.
Since the Pandemic I have personally booked over 40 people there and I can truly they all had an amazing time.
The only thing that I suggest is to alternate the restaurants daily. Try not to have the same ones open for consecutive days to allow short term guests a variety. I know COVID is challenging with low occupancies but if clients are paying please give them a better dinner experience. BTW that food truck is the BEST added feature.
See you next month with my next group!
Breakdown: rooms 5/5

Hotel location, plan 5/5
Food 3.5/5 poor selection of fruits, vegetable
Staff at restaurants 2.5/5
Room cleanness 5/5

Over all Service 2/5 people are lazy, doing it but with a don’t bother me face.
There were 18 adults and we were going to a France restaurant on adult only side where we were required to buy 10 bottles of over priced wine. But using their coupon book, it came out ok -$50 per couple.First we have waited 40 min for someone assist our grind who has disabilities to be brought to the restaurant. Food was not worth it! I give it at 3.5*
Hope it helps!
On the negative side, the food in the buffet was lukewarm at best but often cold, food in a la carte restaurants poor, steaks overcooked, food lukewarm. Service poor in the buffet restaurant but a bit better in a la carte areas, a few staff eg Rory in buffet restaurant work really hard to try to improve service but this has little impact overall as tables not set up properly, on a daily basis we had to ask for crockery, cutlery and napkins, drinks not offered and staff not giving eye contact to enable guests to ask for what they needed. I was not the only guest to complain about the food temperature and poor service. I expected much more than I received.
