This resort is nice in itself, very small but very well maintained. Staff are constantly on top of any cleaning and are always picking up after messy guests as soon as possible. The buffet always has a variety of foods each night and restaurants have decent selections as well. Travelled with family so along with Diamond Club, we requested a room with double beds, which is an usual request for Diamond Club since its almost always couples. Unfortunately we were told that the usual Diamond Club buidings were unavailable to us. Normally this would be a major issue since we paid the extra money for DC privileges and service, however our butler Fenton made all the difference. Not being in a DC building meant that he was unable to provide us with the normal butler services like surprising us with bottles of wine or showing up when called. Fenton went the extra mile and even though he could not access our room automatically, he made the effort to find maids or someone to let him into the room. This was alot of effort on his part just to meet us to fill a request, provide us with a surprise snack before dinner or decorating our room for a birthday. Fenton was very attentive to us even though us not being in a DC room made his job that much harder. He checked in with us several times a day, walked the extra bit to our room to bring us lunch and made the time to escort us to dinner late at night after his shift. Currently at this resort, there is a shortage on butlers and some are left without a partner. The extra effort is much appreciated when you see what they do for you and knowing that they are handling up to 15 families at once.
I recommend this resort if you enjoy a smaller place with a personal touch. Everything is clean and staff are always happy to help. The beach is cleaned and organized every morning so early morning walks are super enjoyable. I will be returning to this resort again and i will definitely be asking for Fentons service again. The extra bit for the butler is worth it because its not just a service, its a great personal touch to the resort. They help you with anything you need, answer any questions you might have, give recommendations for shows, restaurants, activities and anything else. I will be back sometime this year, i look forward to seeing Fenton and the Royalton Negril again.

Royalton Negril is a very beautiful hotel. It is very clean and the view of all rooms are stunning. The buffet is a bit too far for a walk but the path towards is a beautiful as it walks along the beach. The staff at the buffet are very accommodating and friendly, Aaron especially!

The beach is by far the most beautiful and usable beach we had ever gone to. The depth is great for the kids as it does not get further up to their chest. The sand is clean and the water is turquoise and lovely! There are a lot to do at the beach including FREE kayaks, pedalos. Neil was so helpful there.

The food at the food truck by the main pool is very tasty but the wait is so long you might even have to wait in line for over half an hour.

The buffet has a good variety of food, and it sure does have an excellent baker!

Jordin, the life guard at the children pool, which by the way is so much fun for the kids and very conveniently placed closed to the main pool, was also very friendly! He even gave us all a Rastafarian bracelet!

Getting a towel at the pool is a bit of a hassle as they have limits for every room! So if your towel gets wet during the day, you’ll have to bargain for another one sometimes!

We were at the diamond club and so we had two butlers who were very kind: Diana and Laura-Kay!

The rooms were quite nice and the pillow menu was a blast to have. The rooms were cleaned during the day and before bedtime, they even made the bed and dimmed the lights for us before our arrival to the room at night.

We called a cab, arranged by the butlers, to see the localities around. The driver, Jordan, was very nice and we had fun going to the local markets and all.

One night a guy who made balloon characters for the kids appeared beside the buffet who was the most talented artiest I had ever seen working with balloons! Beside my kids, I was in awe of his work! Amazing!

There is always a show at 8pm for the kids and one later on for the adults! My kids enjoyed the shows so much!

Overall, great stay and I do recommend this hotel one hundred percent!

From the moment you walk into the hotel you are greeted by the warm friendly staff and this is just the start of friendliness you will encounter. The hotel itself is beautiful and right on the beach but in any hotel I have been to its always the staff that make it. This is a 5* resort however if you took all the staff and put them in a 3* hotel you would still have the same experience. The most lovely welcoming team of staff I have ever come across. Cleaners, gardeners, life guards, chefs receptionists bar staff everyone made our trip that bit more special. Special thanks to the bar team Orlando, Moesha,Lloyd, Kevon. All of the vibes team Llyod and Kevel are hilarious ! The fitness instructor Lindo , Garfield the gardener, Jerome the pool attendant , Wilton the porter and Kamara (not sure on her job title but she was lovely ) I can't possibly name everyone who works at the hotel but these guys really went out of their way for my family and I will never forget them ! Beautiful people doing a first class job ! I would recommend the jerk shack by the pool Donald is a fantastic cook! To be fair the food anywhere we ate was always on point there is so much choice you will not go hungry, but the jerk shack was our favourite. Don't be put off by scare story's book your excursions with the guys on the beach they are safe as houses and really give you the background on the Jamaican culture and are much cheaper than Tui etc. Ricks cafe is a must ! If you don't want to step outside and embrace the culture the hotel is perfectly set up to entertain you from morning through to the evening with the vibes team on hand, they really are something else ! But I would recommend stepping out because it is such a beautiful country.
All in all we had the best holiday of our lives at the Royalton and would like to thank everyone who works there. I have read some negative reviews about the hotel on this site and can't imagine what on earth you could find to moan about!! Its crazy to think anyone would have anything negative to say. If you don't like good music good food glorious views beautiful beaches and overly helpful staff then don't go to the Royalton its not for you lol . I'm glad we never met anyone like this when we were there.
If you want privacy book the hideaway if you want butler service book club diamond if that's your thing fair enough .. but we booked standard package in the heart of the hotel where the tunes played all day the smell of food would make the fussiest of eaters hungry and the staff treated us like royalty.

Will definitely be back

Lots of love guys see you soon

After two visits to the Royalton in Cancun, I was able to convince 21 members of my friends and family to help me celebrate my birthday in Jamaica during quarantine. Initially after checking in, things began To go wrong. A few of us requested to have our rooms next to each other, in attempt to avoid inconveniencing the other guest with a lot of noise. This request was unable to be met, however, we did not allow this to temper our moods. Additionally upon checking in, we learned that the buffet was closed and the opportunity to make a reservation at the additional restaurants were no longer available. This meant the option of eating for the evening was slim, which was the theme for us the first two nights. We tried going to a restaurant to try and get a seat and was told to order room service. We tried ordering room service, the options were limited, took over two hours to come and one order did not come at all. They were not accommodating at all, it was as if they were not prepared for a large party ( all though there were multiple large parties). With the buffet being closed, reservations had to be made by 9 am and if you were unable to come down by that time, you had to take your chances of eating at a restaurant, despite paying for all inclusive . Speaking of, these drinks were bottom of the bottom well drinks. For the price we paid to lodge at this resort, we expected drinks that did not make us sick or to be drinking Appleton (a Jamaican rum) imported outside of Jamaica. There were also many instances when staff were ridiculously rude, constantly walking off when we had questions and merely unhelpful. For a day and a half we (21 ppl) called room service asking to have our refrigerators restocked or to receive wash cloths from housekeeping. This is supposed to be a top notch resort, however, they lacked hospitality and customer service. We could have gone anywhere else but because of me boasting of how great of a resort the Royalton was, we came here only to be highly disappointed.

I will list the pros and cons of the experience

Pros
Friendly staff: I must say I'm impressed because my first time at Royalton Blue Waters 3 years ago went totally different. The staff at Negril are responsive and friendly and it made a difference in the experience. From the front desk to the housekeepers, I must say kudos to the team for their customer service.

Beautiful hotel: the aesthetics have always been a selling point for me. The view was also lovely. I'd suggest they tell swim up guests that there's little to no sun where their pool is when they're upgrading as not all the rooms are facing the sun.

Housekeeping: housekeeping was good. I have no complaints

Cons
Food and liquor: The food was good for the most part. I loved that I got my green juice each morning.
It's Covid-19 so I didn't expect a lot of restaurants to be open. But at least the buffet. The buffet wasn't open for lunch when we visited and it made the lunch options extremely limited, considering we stayed for 4 days. And it wasn't open every night for dinner but the other dinner options were good. For a hotel that brands themself as luxury, I would have expected some more luxury liquors but it seems they want you to pay for diamond club to get those privileges.

Covid-19 protocols: when we arrived, they took our bags and disinfected them and sanitized our hands. I liked that for dinner they had reservations in certain hours so you wouldn't have a crowd.
I noticed a lot of staff wore their masks under their noses, even while serving food and that really made me uncomfortable. They need to enforce this more. I was very annoyed that the hand sanitizer dispensers weren't automatic. You had to push a button. That's very unsanitary in a pandemic. I didn't see any by the escalator nor did I see persons going around disinfecting it or other high touch areas. I went to another hotel during the pandemic and this was something I really appreciated as it made me feel safer

Musty room: the room was beautiful and the amenities were great. However, the smell of our first room wasn't good. This seems to be an issue at all Royalton hotels. I have asthma so I'm sensitive. My first night was horrible because I couldn't sleep in the smell. I had this same experience 3 years ago at Blue Waters but this time the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly and offered us another room. I honestly would've wanted another night because that one was spoilt due to the issue, but alas!

Packages: we were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday and was hoping we would have gotten some comp stuff like cake, etc. We did receive a wine and banners on our door so that was good!
The staff said due to covid-19 they stopped doing certain comp packages like decorating the room but I don't see why it can't be done if they have their mask on and permission is given. They also don't provide any mini comp cakes or anything special in the room like other hotels, so if you're looking for something like that, it's best to check with others first as theirs come at a fee.

The only consistency at this place is that is consistently inconsistent!! Spent the holidays here with family and what a mistake. This was our 3rd time to Jamaica & it was a total disappointment. Some staff members are friendly & helpful, but most are not. I think that is due to poor training as no one really knows what's going on when asked even the simplest question. Food is at best mediocre, with the buffet being the best of the offerings. We made a reservation at the steak house for 9 people our last night there, which was confirmed by a phone call to our room, but when we arrived we were told there was no reservation. So, it was back to the buffet as we didn't want to wait 1 1/2 - 2 hours. AC didn't work a lot of the time and one of our room smelled like mildew. Trying to get clean towels on a regular basis was also a challenge, even when leaving $$ and a note. We came back from the beach after doing that and the $$ was gone and we had 1 bath towel and no wash cloths. The same was true for getting the in room fridge stocked with the "all inclusive" beverages. We left $$ just to get bottled water. To sum it up if you're thinking of staying here...DON'T!

Make no mistake; This is a great hotel. The rooms are really clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. The location is superb and all other accommodations (beach, pool, gym...) are more than satisfactory. What bothered us the most is that even though you paid for an all-inclusive stay you can't get anything properly done without tipping the staff extra. The buffet restaurant is the worst and it already starts at breakfast. Whether you want to sit Inside or outside (tip and you'll get your favourite table); when you want an omelette tip the guys for a speedy service, when you want a grilled sandwich, tip the woman behind the counter or she'll pretend not to see you, when you want a capuccino, tip your waiter or you'll wait half an hour and so on and so on . When you want to enjoy a normal breakfast, you can easily spend an extra 6 USD per day and that's just for breakfast. This might be fine for Americans used to tipping (the majority of the hotel guests consists of African American people) but for Europeans it remains very strange. I only tip when the service is really extraordinary not to get normal things done. Another thing that really bothered us that everything is very loud especially around the pool areas but it's difficult to find a peaceful place without any moud music playing on the hotel grounds. The music starts at 10:00 am and goes on till 10 pm. Try to get a room in a building as far away from the central stage - reception - pool area if you enjoy daytime napping or an early night.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Royalton Negril. The resort is beautiful, spacious, clean and open. Perfect plave for COVID social distancing.

I must say though it was the staff that made my vacations memorable. Riccardo, the chef in the Japanese restaurant and buffet really went out of his way to make sure our group had an Amazing culinary experience. He prepared meals for us that weren't even on the menu. He was Phenomenal and provided exemplary customer service. Junior from the entertainment staff stayed an extra hour providing us music long after his shift had ended. He really went the extra mile.

The buffet staff in the fresh fruit section went out of their way to make sure we had fresh mangos and sour sop at our table every day they were available because they knew we loved them so much. I even named one of the staff members Mango Lady. They were all so very nice and attentive.

Paul the lifeguard was amazing too. He saved a toddler from drowning as the mother continued to pay him no attention. Paul went the extra mile to assign another lifeguard to the toddler to follow him around the rest of the day since his mother's interest was towards a man.

My butler Kirk and head butler Bernadine went out of their way also to make sure all our needs were taken care and dinner reservations were made daily. They also assisted with a room change in less than 1 hour after my request.

Since the Pandemic I have personally booked over 40 people there and I can truly they all had an amazing time.

The only thing that I suggest is to alternate the restaurants daily. Try not to have the same ones open for consecutive days to allow short term guests a variety. I know COVID is challenging with low occupancies but if clients are paying please give them a better dinner experience. BTW that food truck is the BEST added feature.

See you next month with my next group!

On the positive side, the rooms were beautiful, tastefully decorated and cleaned daily, the whole resort appeared luxurious, the gardens well kept, entertainment excellent centred around the Martini Bar and main stage, with live music most nights until 11pm to suit all age groups.
On the negative side, the food in the buffet was lukewarm at best but often cold, food in a la carte restaurants poor, steaks overcooked, food lukewarm. Service poor in the buffet restaurant but a bit better in a la carte areas, a few staff eg Rory in buffet restaurant work really hard to try to improve service but this has little impact overall as tables not set up properly, on a daily basis we had to ask for crockery, cutlery and napkins, drinks not offered and staff not giving eye contact to enable guests to ask for what they needed. I was not the only guest to complain about the food temperature and poor service. I expected much more than I received.

The simple answer is that there are many. Three to consider are Ivans, Xtabi, and Zimbali's. There are no places within walking distance of note so plan to take a taxi.
