- But yeah, I can still do the Thriller dance. (imitating maracas sounds) Yeah, I got it. Hi, I'm Jennifer Garner. I'll be doing "The Breakdown" with Cosmo. I'll be reliving some memorable moments from my career and give you the scoop on what really happened. This is "Alias." I played Sydney Bristow. This was the season finale of the first season. Something bad is happening, something scary. Sydney was always getting herself into trouble. Oh, bless her heart. Run, Sydney, run! We tried to use every wig three different ways, which means that wigs that started off blonde could become blue or red or anything. And wigs that started off long would eventually be short. Ah! Oh, there's an explosion. Right. Okay, I remember that. Yeah, that was real. We didn't use CGI then. We just exploded things and you ran as fast as you could. I remember them telling me, "Run away and keep your eyes open because the explosion is so big, you're gonna wanna naturally close your eyes or run away from camera. But just run toward camera and keep your eyes open." So that's what I did. "Alias" was the first job that I had that really asked a lot of me physically, and I loved it. I grew up a dancer. I can talk to my body and figure out what I need to do. And I have this incredible stunt double named Shauna Duggins whom I've worked with since the fourth episode of "Alias". And she has always been my teacher, my mentor, my partner in crime. She learns how to do it, teaches me, and then encourages me and makes me do the scary hard things like jump off buildings. And when I watch her do something, I know I can do it too. It doesn't get more classic than this. Good ol' Jenna Rink in "13 Going on 30", whipping out a little Thriller. It's so goofy. It's so, oh my gosh, we were so little. Look at Mark Ruffalo! (laughs) I can't believe this dress has taken on a whole life of its own. The entire movie, I feel like, is just re-centered in the zeitgeist, in a way, over the past couple of years. I've seen both Judy Greer and Mark Ruffalo recently. And we talk about it every time we see each other. Like, "Are you hearing more about '13 Going on 30' than when it came out all those years ago?" And the answer is yes. And the dress, I did not keep one stitch of clothes from that movie. The dress just went back to the warehouse and actually showed up on a background player in "Sex and the City" at some point. And then it just disappeared. Nobody knows where it is. So somebody has that dress. I mean, I could do it. I would need to watch it a couple times, but yeah, I can still do the Thriller dance. (imitating maracas sounds) Yeah, I got it. "Valentine's Day." I don't remember my character's name, but I do remember this scene. I mean, anytime you get to work with Jessica Biel, you're in for a good time. Nailing this pinata was incredibly satisfying. I was using some Elektra moves. I know nothing about baseball, but I was pretending it was a sigh. But you know what? I look like I'm pretty comfortable wailing away on that thing. Yeah, that was satisfying. I would do that again. My love Valentine's Day. I love anything that involves construction paper and baking something yummy and telling people you love 'em. What's better than that? This is "The Last Thing He Told Me." I play Hannah Hall. Oh my gosh, it makes me so nervous to see it up there. I am married to this incredible man, the true love of my life, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. And he has a daughter, my stepdaughter, played by in Angourie Rice. And this is really becomes a love story between me and Angourie's character. We start off as definite adversaries and slowly, we build trust over time, because our life blows up, basically. The man in our lives that we have in common are wonderful, Owen, he disappears, and we are set on a path that is terrifying and thrilling and ultimately working through that, we become mother, daughter. I was a huge fan of the book way before I ever had a possibility of even hoping to play Hannah. I just could not love the book more and recommended it to everyone I came across. And I'm recommending it to you. If you haven't read it, you really should. It's a really great, fun, fast read. Thank you for the walk down memory lane, Cosmo. That was so fun. And make sure you check out "The Last Thing He Told Me" on Apple TV.
