John Wood Community College Reviews
Rating 3.83 out of 5 113 reviews
I am a 46 year old nontraditional student. Most of my classes are online, although I did have speech in person and I am doing a open learning class on wednesdays for statistics in the fall of 2024. My teachers overall have been very supportive overall, and I have enjoyed success in their classes because of it. I have experienced 2 major losses in my family (my dad and my step mom almost a year later) and besides one teacher (which was corrected when I reached out to student services), they were all very supportive and gave me time to catch up if needed. (My family lives in Alabama and Georgia and I live in Illinois). I have been encouraged to participate in the creative writing contest ( which my 2 entries won an award) and PTK. I wish there were more activities for nontraditional students to participate in but most are during the day.
John Wood is an amazing college with multiple locations. The professor are understanding and welcoming. The community is close knit and it has a great atmosphere. They have many options and fun things to do with the students.
My experience with John Wood has been amazing in the time i’ve been there. I have my advisor, Monica, that helps me with figuring out my schedule perfectly for my needs. I’ve had support from Trio and the school counselor. I live john woods support programs, that really do support their students. All the staff is amazing and the students have been lovely as well. Being in the music program has truly been the best part of my john wood experience so far. Dr. Soebbing is an amazing, talented instructor. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the other students, make music as a class, and share it with our loved ones.
