Anne Hathaway was not among the stars in attendance at the 2024 Met Gala last night. However, her Idea of You costar, Nicholas Galitzine, was there—wearing custom Fendi. "It's my first Met, so I'm excited to be here," Galitzine told ET, adding that Hathaway "gave me a pep talk this morning. She said, enjoy it."

It's unclear why Hathaway missed the big night; she has attended the Met Gala numerous times before, including last year in a memorable white tweed Versace gown held together by gold safety pins.

In an interview last year about working with stylist Erin Walsh, Hathaway shared, "Maybe there was initial confusion with me because I was introduced to the world as a teenaged princess, but I never actually connected to things that are 'sweet' and 'pretty' — no shade at all for those wonderful options. I love the right risk, as does she."

The 2024 Met Gala comes in in the wake of the streaming premiere of her new film, The Idea of You, in which she plays Solène, a divorcée who falls for a boy band star, Hayes (Galitzine).

"It never occurred to me that I didn’t have the power of a point of view, at least creatively as it related to my character. I’m really lucky," Hathaway said in a recent article with V Magazine. "My first substantial film role, the second film I ever did, was The Princess Diaries. I was so generously invited into that process by Garry Marshall; he valued my take on being a teenage girl and elevated me to such a valued status on set that it never occurred to me on other sets that I didn’t have that same autonomy, or that same ability to collaborate. I always wanted to be pleasant. But I also always thought that having strong opinions meant I was doing my job."
