After all the work he put in Lee Gorman (previously of Bow Wow Wow) is called 'Lee Gordon' on the cover credits. Incredible. The extra disc of ambient instrumental mixes are well worth getting.referencing Paris (CD, Album) 74321191392
I bought this album back in 1994 when it was released first. The music ist dense, athmospheric, sophisticated and gets better with each listen.
For years, this music has been what came to my mind whenever Paris was the subject.
Last year I went to Paris for the very first time and the music was playing in my head while I was walking the streets of Paris. A perfect match!
The CD is one of my candiates to take with me on a lonely island. For those who don't know it yet: Give it a try!referencing Paris (2×CD, Album) 314-524 107-2
Disc 2 is great club music. I cannot stand Malcolm's vocals on Disc 1.- Edited 5 years ago

Fantastic atmospheric album. Soundtrack to unknown film about Paris. Malcolm McLaren sometimes is declamating and reciting, sometimes is singing poetry about Paris. Music is a mix of relaxing jazz, pop music, ethinc, French chanson, electronic ambient, spoken word. Very transparent clear pleasant sound produced by Robin Millar (Do you remember the sound of the albums by Sade? That's it).
It's hard to predict if personally you will like it. It's very special sound world and you have to taste it.
If you are not the fan of Malcolm's voice - probably you'll like the music, the atmosphere, the mood the album. It has nothing to do with The Sex Pistols. It's an art work. referencing Paris (2×CD, Album) 314-524 107-2
The most underrated album I know. Absolutely gorgeous music. Hilarious, life-affirming vocals by Malcolm and some really heartbreaking vocal performances by all the others. "Miles and Miles of Miles Davis" has a trumpet melody taken from Erik Satie's "Trois Gnossiennes." Jacques Bolognesi's trombone on "Mon Dié Sénié" conjures up Rico Rodriguez. It's that good. Buy it.
