Nestled on Atlantic City's boardwalk, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is a crowd-pleaser with its array of amenities, including a buzzing casino and live entertainment, as highlighted by guests. The hotel's location garners applause for its convenience to local attractions, despite being perceived by some as outdated. Cleanliness is consistently commended, though opinions on value and room quality vary, with reports of hidden fees and outdated decor. While the vibrant, music-centric atmosphere is a hit for many, some guests find noise levels disruptive. The service earns high marks, but slow drink service has been noted.

Stayed 1 night to celebrate my wife’s 40th. Stayed in a king room ocean view in the north tower. The room itself far exceeded my expectations. It was more like a mini-suite than a standard room, and was much nicer than the website made it seem - bathroom was huge with double sinks and separate toilet room. The casino itself was great, with modest table limits for us lower-bankroll bettors ($15). Very friendly staff everywhere, clean, lots of food/drink options. I’ve stayed at the Trop many times, but the hard rock will be our new spot.

I’m usually not the type to leave a review unless I feel like they went above and beyond what was expected.

The first room we were given was supposed to be on a non smoking floor, however as soon as we walked into the room we were hit with an overwhelming smell of fresh marijuana smoke. We thought okay whatever maybe the people before us smoked. The smell ended up getting worse as the night went on which was annoying but manageable.

When we finally laid down to sleep after a long day of traveling (2 layovers due to a last minute flight cancellation) we heard a whooshing noise was every couple of minutes for HOURS. At 3am we couldn’t take it anymore and made our way down to check in to see if it was possible to change rooms. On our way down we determined it was the elevators we were hearing.

When I explained the situation to the guy at the front desk he seemed a little skeptical (I think he thought we were looking for a room upgrade, but at this point I would have taken a downgrade just to be able to get some sleep) but said he would talk to his manager. They ended up switching us to the same exact room one floor lower and a couple extra doors further away from the elevators which made all the difference. We were so grateful.

Then, while we were returning to our room after a day at the beach, we got stuck on an elevator and had to call for assistance. We were only stuck for about 10 minutes but security followed up to make sure we were okay and gave us a $75 room credit. The credit was not expected but much appreciated. We used it on room service which took almost 2 hours (peak breakfast times) but was fresh when we got it.

The way the staff handled both situations was outstanding. I know things happen that may be less than ideal but the way it’s handled makes all the difference. We had a great time and I would stay with Hard Rock again.

We stayed in the south tower of the casino and the rooms were modern and nice. Except I woke up with a bites on my leg and when I looked at one of the pillows in my room there was a blood on the pillow case. I went to the front desk and notified management. I was moved to another room and had to speak with security and fill out a report. They moved us to another room (after putting all of our belongings in a bug zapper for extra protection). The new room was nice and clean but the AC was not working, I notified management and this issue was fixed by the end of the night. The beach is nice, just get there early so you're not surrounded by too many people. Covid precautions are in full effect here. They have a temperature reading as you arrive and a cleaning staff that consistently wipes high touch point areas. The restaurants are expensive to eat at and the noodle place automatically charges an 18 percent gratuity for mediocre food. Check out time is a nightmare - it took us almost 45 minutes to find an empty elevator because of social distancing, and everyone checking out, so be warned. Everyone is required to wear a mask and I think that's awesome! Finally, resort fees were waived during out stay because indoor dining and other amenities have been suspended temporarily. All in all we had a good stay, we were there for the beach and to get out of quarantine safely, mission accomplished.

For the amount of money a room is per night and the National reputation of the chain we expected so much more. The room itself was amazing. The staff was extremely unhelpful. The layout of the hotel and casino are atrocious. The "map" the rewards desk gives out only has the main casino floor and the floor above on it despite there being a pool and other restaurants on the property. The elevator tells you to select floor 2 for the Casino but the map shows the casino is on the first floor. We were staying in the hotel and should have been able to dine at the Balcony Bar which was one of the only open restaurants due to the pandemic but we literally couldn't find it. I was looking forward to booking some spa services for a pedicure but was told none of their nail techs were going to be on staff the weekend we were staying. There was zero information on the site or at the location on how the WAX program works or whether it was suspended because of the virus. The TRACKS playlist wasn't downloadable like it stated online and would only play one song at a time. If you plan on coming here, especially during the pandemic definitely bring a cooler with plenty of your own food and water. The shops don't post the charges for things like water - they are $6 each for a large-ish bottle. There was also very little (pretty much none) info on the boardwalk shuttle and what the stops were. Could have been a good contribution to finding more activities and places to eat.
Also, because we opted for a better view our check in wasn't until 4pm and checkout is at 11am. This is important since if you get take out the only place you can eat it is your room unless you want to fight a crowd of people for an outside table. Also many of the food options are on the parking garage side of the building and there was no way we could find to get from there to the boardwalk that wasn't through the casino floor. You can't bring food or drink across the casino floor.
So basically we paid $400 for a room to use for 18 hours so we could eat over priced food and sleep.
Like I said the room itself was gorgeous with a view of the ocean if you stuck your head in the window. The bed was comfy. Everything was very clean. The toiletries provided were very nice and the TV had built in chrome cast. The indoor pool wasn't crowded and was very enjoyable.
Now that we spent 2 days learning how to get places we MIGHT go back once things are fully operational but overall it was not an overly positive experience.

This trip was a quick 3 day getaway during my spring break from school. This was our first time staying at this Hard Rock location, and it was overall a positive experience.

Here are the positives: It was great that our room was ready when we arrived at 1:00 pm ( Sunday check-in is 5:00). The hotel has a whole team of workers that are constantly wiping surfaces down which was great to see during Covid. We visited early in the week so it was not over crowded. A highlight of the trip was the Fresh Harvest Buffet. You order off a menu and the wait staff serves you as much as you want...the salad was delicious! It was a nice way to get around the self-serve buffet during Covid. We did not eat at the food court, but quick bites to eat were available. Dunkin is in the hotel next door which is a quick walk using a connecting walkway between the resorts.

There were a few negatives. The walls are very thin, and we called down to have them ask our neighbors to lower their music. I could almost hear the conversations they were having...not fun at midnight. On the second morning of our stay, there were power tools being used at 7:45am as tile work was being done in a couple rooms down the hall. Upon check out I mentioned these couple things and the resort fees for 2 nights (total $38) was credited back to my account.

We stayed in the North Tower because I was told when I booked it that it would have closer access to the beach/boardwalk. However, you need to walk by the South Tower elevators to get to the North Tower. It's just a few more steps but I was confused why I was told North Tower had closer access to outside.

I would definitely return and recommend this property.

I stayed at Bally’s last year (which was nice) and Showboat at the start of summer (which was horrible). We decided on a last minute end of summer trip to AC and wanted to try Hard Rock...so glad we did! Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful, always willing to go above and beyond. Staff was visible everywhere cleaning and disinfecting. Every guest I saw walking through wore a mask. No smell of weed throughout the building and no one screaming in the hallways threatening to beat each other up (unlike at Showboat). Pool was very nice, lifeguard did a good job at making sure kids weren’t running around and rules were followed without ruining the fun vibe. We ordered room service for most meals because we have a 2 year old and Matt (I think that was his name, not totally sure) was extremely friendly...commiserated with the fact we had a screaming 2 year old (his daughter just turned 3) and offered to bring up anything we needed to keep him calm. We stayed in the Apollo ocean suite which had a great view. I would have liked the balcony to be accessible, but they’re locked for safety purposes. Suite was big, furniture extremely comfortable, bed and bedding were great. My only complaint is the hot water took a little longer than expected to get going in the shower and the AC in the living area was a bit noisy (and I’m someone that needs white noise to sleep at night). Housekeeping was always present and asked if we needed anything. Overall, a great stay and I will be back again!

My husband and I arrived and found a soiled towel in our bathroom (gross). I then called the front desk and they asked when we would be leaving our room and they would come up and re-clean it. We returned to the room 3 hours later and the room hadn’t been touched. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and my lettuce was brown. We tossed and turned for most of the night with the noise from the elevator going up and down which sounded much like an airplane. We were in the South tower in a king suite. We ordered coffee and poached eggs and toast in the morning and the toast never came. Alma the manager was great at dealing with all of this except we didn’t get a full refund for the breakfast which isn’t acceptable because the whole idea of poached eggs ON toast is the toast! Three strikes (4 in this case) and you’re out. First time to Atlantic City and extremely disappointing.

I stayed in the South Tower at the Hard Rock AC for 5 nights. POSITIVES: Check-in and check-out are effortless. All the staff I encountered even in passing were friendly and helpful. The hotel scans for temperature when you enter and requires a mask everywhere. The room was spotless. The group of toiletries are even put in a thick plastic bag so you know no one touched them. I did not use maid service while I was there so I can’t comment on that. However, the maids were always pleasant when I brought out my trash and towels. There’s a fridge and safe in the room. There are many food options available but you cannot eat inside the hotel except in your room per the Governor. There were a few outdoor options. The AC is quiet. The bed was very comfy.

NEGATIVES: I think this is unique to my room #522. 1) I would have given 4 stars if it wasn’t for this issue. On my last 2 mornings I was woken up early by some loud noises that reoccurred by the minute. I also had trouble falling asleep on my last night for these same noises. It sounded like either something was being wheeled back and forth across a floor or a game of bowling. Maybe it was related to the pool on the floor below me being reopened. I came down the shore to rest & get away from all the constant noise in the city. I was disappointed that didn't happen. 2) All week the floor was very loud. There were crying babies and loud kids running up and down the halls. I don’t know if they purposely put kids on a lower floor or if this was random. 3) They are limiting the elevators to 4 people which is good. This is also causing congestion esp at 11 AM when everyone is checking out.

HINT: You might want to catch an up elevator in order to go down although you pretty much hit every floor on the way down.

Decided to do something a bit different and stay on the boardwalk which we rarely do. I choice hard rock because since this was the old Taj Mahal I wanted to see what some of the changes were. Upon entry, we noticed some of the few chAnges and some things we remembered as the same.

While we checked in as we entered the elevator, we noticed dried spit on the elevator doors. Not a great impression at all since we checked in a 1pm. We were given the 9th floor a few steps away from the elevator in the north tower. The room looked the same when we stayed at the taj years back. We had a semi view of the boardwalk due to the low floor and the obstruction of the south tower. We were overlooking the roof as well so it wasn’t very appealing. When I inquired if I could get a higher room, the front desk attendant stated “this is the room you paid for. You would have to pay more money if you want a higher room”. Not the answer I was looking for but ok do be it... we were only here for 2 nights so no big deal...

Inside the room, there were strands of black hair on the bathroom not belonging to any of us. The bathroom towel rod was broken and hung off the wall and was barely secure, the bathroom sink was clogged as the water took forever to go down, the dresser and fridge wouldn’t close, the hallway was loud and walls were paper thin. We were granted a late check out yet we were greeted with banging on the door by housecleaning at 10:30a.m. How is this possible when check out is at 11???? Why are you rushing us?? The point of asking for a late check out was to not be rushed and after my hubby birthday the night before, we knew we would be a bit tired the following day. This type of behavior was totally unacceptable and left a sour taste in our mouths so we had no choice but to pack up and leave. Why doesn’t the front desk communicate with housekeeping staff when people are requesting late check outs so we are not disturbed? Additionally, why is housekeeping banging on the door before the required check out time? I’ve never experienced this before and I did not request a wake up call!!

Not certain if I would frequent this hotel/casino again in the future due to our experience however everyone else experience maybe different. This establishment needs to do a better job with making cleanliness a top priority. When we checked out, the dried up spit on the elevator door was still there by the way!
