Sonic.EXE is the central antagonist of Story Mode, and his debuting creepypasta in 2011 along with a duology indie game. He is the main opponent of Too Slow, You Can't Run, Triple Trouble. He's also an upcoming opponent of Final Escape and was planned to be a playable character in Slaybells before being replaced by Grimbo.
Appearance[]
Sonic.EXE is extremely similar to Classic Sonic, but with notable differences. His fur is darker, and his arms seem to be "softer", and he smiles abnormally with his mouth being totally dark. The main characteristic of .EXE is his black eyes with small reddish glowing pupils, and his eye sockets secrete slightly pink blood from his lower eyelids, resulting in a permanent mark on his face. Occasionally, Sonic.EXE is depicted being slimmer or flatter to differentiate it from regular Sonic.
In You Can't Run, Sonic.EXE is taller, has a more serious look, his pupils are absent, and his fur is messier, with his eyes wide open and revealing a bit of his skull on top. In addition, his fur is more purple, and the part of his fur turns into light purple crystals, along with a small X-shaped scar on his chest. His lips stick together like a goo, and the fingertips of his gloves are bloodied. By getting annoyed, Sonic.EXE changes reality to a more classic design. In this form, his eyes are more similar to normal Sonic, and the blood from his gloves is gone, however he still has taut lips and blackened fur, along with the flesh of his eye sockets and his mouth being visible in both his poses and idle.
In Triple Trouble and Final Escape, Sonic.EXE takes on a more beastly form known as Xenophanes; his current official form created by his owner ASTRAMONICONX. In this form, his height increases again, now dwarfing Lord X even uncrouched. His spines are bigger but even messier and more crystallized, and this also reaches the eyebrows and tips of the ears. His former blue fur turns to indigo purple as the blood on his gloves covers half of his fingers. His eyes are larger, exposing more of his cracked skull, and his pupils appear smaller, with red and white irises and black pupils. The X-shaped slash on his chest is now larger, similar to Lord X's. The blood in his body present in his eyes and in his cut are more purple, while his smile opens up revealing his purple-toned gums, tongue and teeth, and crystallized on the sides.
In his planned design to be used in Slaybells, originally planned for the 2.0 update, he appears to be the same as his conventional appearance, except that two strands of fur on his head are messed up. His shoes are replaced with identical boots, but with pointed sides and no cuffs. He uses the two, for some reason untouched, tails of Soul Tails as a scarf. In his poses, he releases his quills' crystals.
One of the traits of Sonic.EXE that deserves a section of its own is his powers, as he uses them constantly in his songs. Among them is the ability to mess up his own fur, sprout arms or tendrils (perhaps in reference to the tentacle described in Sally.EXE) of his mouth, alter reality, stick on the tips of his lips together, switch the colors of various parts, or make his pupils, blood or teeth disappear, or otherwise change them to something more macabre (pointy, rotten teeth, or glowing pupils). He also can switch an object's trait such as a microphone gray color to red. Despite .EXE's flesh being supposedly a jumbled mess, he can also summon a normal gum and tongue.

- Sonic.EXE is commonly thought to be a demon possessing Sonic's body, his first and most well-known fan-made origin. However, it has been confirmed that in the canon, Sonic and Sonic.EXE are two different entities.
- Sonic.EXE actually idolizes Sonic, to the point of obsession.
- Sonic.EXE is the second character to switch between the normal and pixel artstyle mid-song, the first being Monika during "Glitcher (Monika Mix)".
- They are both also the first characters to appear in multiple different perspectives across multiple songs.
- Strangely, despite how Sonic.EXE's 16-bit sprites both appear in and are based off of his sprites in You Can't Run, his corresponding icons appear to be based off of Too Slow's (most noticeable with the eyes).
- If Sonic.EXE's down pose in Too Slow is brightened, a red eye can be seen in his left eye socket.
- Similarly, Sonic.EXE's 'I'm gonna getcha!' animation has a hidden face in his mouth that can be seen when the sprites are brightened.
- Sonic.EXE's week is meant to represent the evolution of the character over the years:
- Too Slow represents the original version of the character; staying close to his original design.
- You Can't Run represents no particular version of him, but rather his gradual shift into modern incarnation (as can be seen with how his quills have begun to crystallize, which is more complete when he becomes Xenophanes).
- Triple Trouble represents his current form as Xenophanes, where he has “completed his metamorphosis” as a character, so to speak.
- Xenophanes is the third character to rap in the middle of a song.
- Sonic.EXE's laughter, aside from the one following his monologue in Too Slow, is an edited version of Kefka Palazzo's laugh. This is due to the original creepypasta mentioning Kefka by name, and later fan-works using it as a basis for his laugh.
- Xenophanes was named after a Greek philosopher.[1]
- Despite popular belief, the Triple Trouble sprites weren't going to get a remaster.[2]
Origin[]
Sonic.Exe, also known today as Xenophanes, is a demonic entity very obsessed with Sonic, idolizing him and taking his appearance. He first debuted in his eponymous creepypasta in the year 2011, where he cold-bloodedly kills Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman, while mentally torturing players (Kyle and Tom) who play "his" game. He gained even more prominence with a game made in 2013 by MY5TCrimson. Several other games created by fans of this story continued it, creating a duology called Sally.Exe, or also new interpretations (Nightmare Beginning and Spirits of Hell for example). He is very popular in various other forms of media and as of 2021 has had a resurgence thanks to this mod

Miles "Tails" Prower is a character in the Sonic series, and the first to fall victim to Sonic.EXE. He appears as Soul Tails in Triple Trouble, summoned by Sonic.EXE to defeat Boyfriend.
Appearance[]
Soul Tails looks similar to normal Tails, being an anthropomorphic fox with white gloves, red shoes, and two tails, has several major differences compared to his living counterpart. His fur color has shifted from yellow to gray, and both of his eyes are missing; the sockets dripping with blood. His right eye has an X-shaped gash around it, and his right hand and the tips of both his tails have been torn off. In his down pose, his eyes merge into a single, glaring red eye.
He had a cancelled 2.5 design where his gray fur is now darker, his empty eyes having red flesh inside, smaller torn tails, different and more pointy shoes which are off red in color, and including a blue line.

- Tails' down pose features both of his eyes fused together in a singular red eye, referencing Pervision, a Sonic based exe appearing in Sally.exe: Continued Nightmare.
- Soul Tails is the only soul in Triple Trouble who's jumpscare doesn't occur immediately upon his appearance.

Knuckles the Echidna is a protagonist in the Sonic series, who was killed by Sonic.EXE shortly after Tails. He appears as Soul Knuckles in Triple Trouble, summoned by Sonic.EXE to defeat Boyfriend.
Appearance[]
Knuckles is an anthropomorphic echidna with red fur, maroon shoes, and white gloves with spikes coming out of their fists. Compared to regular Knuckles, Soul Knuckles' once-vibrant red fur has desaturated to a brick color, and his eyes are now black sockets, which seem to be leaking some kind of inky black substance. His mouth is highly deformed, and merges with his eyes in all of his poses. His left arm has also been severed off.
He has a cancelled 2.5 design where he had bright red fur and slight tweaks to his shoes, mouth, tail, and quills.

Soul Robotnik[]

Dr. Ivo Robotnik, also known as Dr. Eggman, is the main antagonist of the Sonic series, and the last to die by the hands of Sonic.EXE. He appears as Soul Robotnik in Triple Trouble, summoned by Sonic.EXE to defeat Boyfriend.
Appearance[]
Compared to regular Robotnik as he appears in classic Sonic titles, Soul Robotnik's skin has faded and paled, and his head is partially split open, revealing his brain. He lacks eyes and a skull, as his brain now covers the entirety of his upper head. His jaw hangs open limply, and his teeth are yellowed; one of which is missing entirely. Blood also drips from his eye sockets and his mouth. His collar is torn and his clothes have grayed slightly, and both of his hands are gone.
He has an unfinished sketch for his supposed 2.5 design where he had shorter arms and had tweaks to his legs, moustache, and clothes.

- Soul Robotnik's up pose somewhat resembles artwork of Robotnik from Sonic CD.
- His part in Triple Trouble references the Sonic 2 Boss Theme. Because all of the week's gimmicks appear in this section, as well as the fact that the tempo speeds up, his part is likely meant to convey a boss battle.
- Unlike Soul Tails and Knuckles, Soul Robotnik differs greatly from his depiction in the original Sonic.EXE game; in the game, he was described as having grey skin and broken glasses with blood seeping out of them, whereas in the mod, he has no glasses or eyes and his skin is a sickly pale.
- Due to his lack of skin on either side of his mouth, he is unable to form vocals such as "ooh," "you" or "oh," which is why his vocals only consist of "ah" and "eeh."

Lord X[]
Lord X is the main antagonist of OTH305's Sonic (PC Port), a game that reimagines the original version of Sonic.EXE. A remake created by John-Kun and the PC-Port team is currently in development. Considered an older version of Sonic.EXE in terms of age and "experience", he plays with Boyfriend on the song Cycles and its Encore version.“WELCOME BACK!”

Majin Sonic[]
Majin Sonic is a character based on an easter egg in Sonic CD's Sound Test. He's the opponent in Endless, the JP & US mixes of it and Endeavors.
Appearance[]
In this mod, Majin Sonic appears in his look in 2.0 where he looks closer to his appearance on the Sonic CD secret screen, with a shorter stature and more angular face. His face now becomes covered in shadows in his left and right poses. Majin Sonic's discolorations might be due to lighting since Boyfriend's colors in Majin Sonic's song were given a blue tint in the 2.0 update.
In Endless (Encore), he gains a standing microphone that's blue in color and now dons a moustache, and appears taller.
He has an old appearance where his 3.0 version was used, where he has a rounder face, and smoother and slimmer body. He also has a pointed nose and lacks shadows all over him. His microphone has a small antenna at the underside.

- Activating his code in Sonic CD shows the infamous FUN IS INFINITE message, with a large group bunch of Majin Sonics layered around each other. All the while, the boss theme plays. The creepiness factor is almost entirely owed to the U.S. OST's boss music, which is much different than the PAL/JPN OST's boss music.
- Due to the latter theme being much more bouncy and less ominous than the former, the screen was likely meant to be a joke rather, rather than to invoke creepiness.
- Masato Nishimura, landscape designer and voice of Sonic in Sonic CD, was responsible for including the original "FUN IS INFINITE" easter egg in the game, and is who Majin Sonic's face is meant to resemble.
- Contrary to popular belief, the "Majin" part of Majin Sonic's name comes not from him being any sort of demon (Majin being a Japanese noun that roughly translates to "evil spirit" in English), but rather due to Majin being the alias of the aforementioned Masato Nishimura.
- There has been debate wherever Majin Sonic's black spot under his nose is a shadow or a mustache, but it was later confirmed by Masato Nishimura himself that it's just a shadow on his face.
- However, art posted by the official Sonic Twitter has also interpreted it as a mustache.
- It's been confirmed that Majin Sonic's species are called "Mazin," as it is the correctly translated version of the sound test easter egg as confirmed by Nishimura himself.
- The Mazin that faces against Boyfriend is still called Majin Sonic, and is considered an outlier of the group.
- If you game over in Endless and wait for the countdown, the game will crash after Boyfriend is converted. It also creates a .txt document on your computer that appears on your home page, which contains a massive spam of "FUN IS INFINITE".

Want to learn more about Sunky? Sunky is a parody of Sonic from the Sunky The Game series, and was added in the 2.5 update. A kindhearted soul who likes to dance with his friends and eat cereal and milk, he appears as the opponent for the remastered "Milk".

Sunky looks like Sonic, but somewhat crudely drawn and with simple dots in place of the usual eyes and is smaller. His appearance is nearly the same as the original Sonic but has longer legs and arms and bigger and longer hands and shoes.

EXE, is a version of Sonic.exe created by Revie03, and one of the characters that can be found in debug. His first phase is portrayed as a Sonic impersonation, while his second is a more disturbing form. He has a total of 4 four songs, Faker, Black Sun, GODSPEED and Slaybells. And soon he will appear in Faker (Encore).
Biography[]
EXE is a creation of void matter created by Sonic.EXE/X, specifically the original one. After being created, Lord X adopted EXE and raised him as a son.. and a warrior. But because of how EXE was rebellious at times and went ahead of Lord X, he started to get mad and decided to banish EXE off Lord X's realm and into his own alternative universe to start his own legacy.
Despite the good choice that was, EXE now had one simple goal; which is simply to eradicate all powerful beings, harvest their power with the Black Sun, and destroy the entire multiverse once and for all to become the "god" of everything.
Appearance[]
This interpretation of the character is much closer to Classic Sonic in design, though having darker skin & quills, blue arms, and shoes lacking buckles & belts. He features various pitch-black shading, as well as what looks to be wrinkles on his face, which allows him to boast his off-putting, uneasily angry expressions.
Unveiling his second form, EXE becomes drenched in blood, with his limbs & torso stretching to become extraordinarily long, giving him a tall, menacing appearance. His skin becomes pale-white, as well as his "gloves", and "socks" melding into his body. This stretching appears to rip his quills, revealing patches of skin. His eyes begin to dissolve into their sockets, rendering them a hollow, pitch-black appearance, and his mouth stretches to fit his newly grown row of sharp, interestingly pure-white teeth, while his nose appears to completely disappear, being more akin to the nose bone on a human skull (evident from the lack of gleam anywhere on it, as well as it appearing to be similar to his hollowed eye sockets.)
This transformation implies EXE is able to manipulate his body proportions, colors, and features at will, as he quickly shifts into his second form at the end of "Faker", which drastically changes all the aspects described.

EXE is persuasive and charismatic; it is shown that he can trick others with his faker form, despite how off it truly looks. However, when he shows his true self, he is a bloodthirsty maniac who strives to kill others for his own benefit.

- The gameplay of EXE's game is completely personalized; it's either immediate death, or playable characters being given to you.

- Their name is actually EXE, Not Faker.EXE (that is the character's song title minus the .exe/.EXE), Not Sonic.exe (though this is a version of him), just EXE.

- Out of all ‘Sonic's' in the mod, EXE (in most of Faker, before he reveals his true nature) is the only version ofSonic (alongside debatably Majin Sonic) that seems to treat the rap battle against BF relatively normally, whereas every other Sonic either alludes to, or makes it very clear early in the song that they have ulterior motives, or upon a game over in certain cases.
- EXE, albeit probably unintentionally, shares many similarities with Mascot Sonic, another take on Sonic.EXE created by twitter artist PaisanoJay. Notably, they (taking EXE's true form into account) both feature, lanky, elongated limbs, disproportionately large smiles, andgloves which are not actually gloves.
- EXE's Black Sun down pose is commonly memed as holding items such as basketballs and dodgeballs.
- In some memes, EXE's Faker left pose is used for the same purpose.
- EXE's second song, Black Sun, is part of EXE's lore.
- The Black Sun is a giant orb of anti-matter and soul matter that is basically a torture chamber and the source of a majority of EXE's abilities.
- Popular to the contrary, EXE made his debut on Revie03's Newgrounds account, starring simply as a Sonic.exe redesign. He also starred in a YouTube video where he creepily rehearses the last part of “Green Hill Zone” WITH LYRICS by Juno Songs.
- EXE was originally meant to have a fangame similar to the OG Sonic.exe however no work was done for it but there were possible death scenes that were completed and soundtrack that was made for it by Revie that include references to the original game.

Furnace is a Metal Sonic counterpart created by Starved specifically to cook larger animals and mainly to outmatch Sonic to ultimately capture him to be eaten. He was supposed to appear in the song Prey and its Good Future mix.

Furnace is a Metal Sonic variant which wholly resembles his namesake, a furnace, with dark grey metal skin, a furnace door on his chest, and red burning eyes. He also has long claws and emits a lot of smoke as a result of fuel.

- In the mod, he uses his same sprites from the base Vs. Sonic.Exe except he gets a few unique animations such as a unique missed attack, a spindash, and him short circuiting.

Starved[]
Starved is a creepy and hungry version of Eggman who loves to cook Mobians and eat them, even modifying his Badniks to catch and cook them. He was an upcoming opponent featured in the songs Prey and its Good Future mix, and Fight or Flight. He is an incarnation of Dr. Ivo Robotnik that has one goal currently in mind: to feed his insatiable hunger he has worked up over time. He is the same doctor to a marginal degree despite the difference in looks, his outlooks comparably before are much different than what he originally had planned in the beginning.

Starved changes slightly in this mod but he still appears as a darkened, red, and hungry version of Eggman with a creepy face. His face is much more defined, having cheeks, as well as proper adjustments to his shoulders and general poses. In Prey, rather than his normal Egg Mobile, he uses a modified version that he used in Sonic CD which adds a booster.
He had an unused design where he was much rounder and smaller.

X-Terion, otherwise known as Jonathan Fitzgerald Micheals is a character made by Goji_Boi, in early 2021, with the idea of him being based on the Sega Saturn game 'Sonic Jam'. He's a spirit based EXE trapped within a prototype of Sonic Jam that's having trouble of finding peace, it being the main reason why he's been in the disc for years.

X-Terion has dark blue fur, which gets darker near the end. He has a silhouetted face, only revealing one eye (though in this mod, shows two eyes). He has a tan bit of chest fur, with red gloves, and gray and purple sneakers.
Story[]
Originally an employee at SEGA of America, Johnathan Fitzgerald Michaels volunteered to work overseas in Japan, where he ultimately died due to being overworked and suffering a seizure.
After his death, Johnathan, now known as X-Terion, had found himself stuck inside a copy of Sonic Jam, the game he had helped create. Thankfully, the disk he was trapped inside had been found by Marilyn Michaels, his daughter who was forced to grow up without him. Now, X-Terion waits for the day Marilyn reveals the contents of the box to the world, and holds onto the hope that he could one day move on.

- X-Terion has been a semi-popular request to be in the mod, so much so that a person even made a recolor skin mod based off of him, featuring the fanmade song, "I AM GOD".
- X-Terion, despite looking menacing in his artwork, actually looks pretty happy here.
- X-Terion is still an avid fan of the sport of golf, it being an old activity of his when he was still in college.
- Jonathan has a love for bread, it being one of the things he was able to sustain himself during his time in Sega of Japan.
- During his time in Japan, Jonathan decided to start collecting Sonic related media in Japan, allowing him to be somewhat knowledgeable on Sonic lore both in Japan and America.
- X-Terion uses a reskin of Sonic's model from Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams.[13]

Hog is a bootleg character and EXE created by Jack Gore and was an upcoming opponent. He originates from an illegal add-on of Sonic and has two forms, both completely different characters.[14] Hog & Scorched was a planned character for the File Extensions side mod. He was the last opponent to be upcoming before the mod was ultimately shelved, coming with his songs Hedge and Manual Blast.
Appearance[]
Hog appears to look similar to Sonic with a few differences, such as having a rounded face akin to the old style of Sonic, three long whiskers on each side of his face, thin pupils, and having off-white socks and gloves with black shoes. His belly also has a small tuft of fur on it.
Scorched has a large maw full of sharp teeth, giant grey hands, arms, and legs, fused cracked black shoes or feet, and void black eyes. He is seen with pulsing veins.

Apollyon was an upcoming character created by averyavary who was going to appear but never made it, outside of a mix of Perdition where he sings it and in the 4 act song, Genesis.
He will no longer appear in the mod however as he was removed because Jack was not in the team.
Appearance[]
Apollyon is a demonic entity guising as the Blue Blur himself, as he first appears to be like him except he's mad. He then transforms ever slightly to reveal his true appearance in the form of darkened fur, pale red shoes, yellow eyes, darkened skin, and black tips on his ears. He transforms one more having dark shoes and fur and voided eyes. His mouth also begins to melt on opposite sides. He also gains two black horns which replace his ears and a symbol on his forehead resembling a double-barred cross. His final form makes him gigantic as he now has fluffier quills and scars over his eyes and he towers over Boyfriend with an evil smile.
Curse is a featured character in the mod. He’s actually Sonic, but his life and his friend, Knuckles, were destroyed by a landslide. Everybody blamed him for it, including Tails and Sally. Robotnik used his intellect to better the city of Mobius, and his machines being Sonic’s chaperones. However, the Curse of X bestowed itself upon Sonic for no known reason. Sometime later, Curse returns to his home and finds a note to meet at Bridge Zone just for a guilt trip from Tails on how he supposedly killed his friend. After an attempted drowning, Metal Sonic saves him. Metal decides to house Sonic, giving him luxury, because his own home was not safe anymore.
Curse will no longer appear here as he is scrapped completely due to the mod's permanent cancellation.
Appearance[]
Curse looks like a typical EXE, sporting the classic bloody eyes, the substance being called Mobitar. However, he dawns a very happy and upbeat expression. He has a grey backpack, showing some various sexuality flags. He looks more furry than a Sonic character, and has fingerless gloves. He has bandages all over his feet due to the landslide, and some winter Uggs.

Satanos was an EXE that was going to appear in a collab update with the Parallax mod in the songs Trickery & Perdition. and an EXE created by RightBurst. He was supposed to appear with the songs Trickery & Perdition. Satanos is Satan himself in the digital world, residing in a copy of the first Sonic game. Batman Sonic was an upcoming opponent based off a secret image of Sonic in Sonic CD who resembled Batman in a dark setting. He appears in the sound test in his base game, with the code FM42, PCM04, DA21. The original image was made by Takumi Miyake, and Final Fever played on it.

- Two idle concepts were made for Batman Sonic, one by Comgaming and one by Skye.
- His supposed song Gotta Go was thought first to belong to him until it was later revealed that the song was for Lord X. It was then later later revealed to be for a character named Redglove.
- However this was also proven false and it is for Lord X after all it is just based off a version of Lord X that has red gloves, yellowish gold like skin and a dark type of shade

Educator was a planned EXE created by Shroudy Software, based on Sonic's Schoolhouse. He was moved to a different mod, that being Parallax, before said mod also ended up being cancelled.

No-Name is an EXE based on a Sonic plush created by RightBurst_Ultra. He was going to appear in a collab update with the Parallax mod in a currently unnamed song, but was scrapped when Right was kicked off the team.[16] He is a wooden doll created by DareDevil Inc. to promote their games and was left behind after the dissolution of the company.

No-Name is a wooden puppet-like doll resembling Sonic, possessing a lanky body made of wood and all of his limbs being only string. He has 6 main parts those being his white gloves, a small round torso, his large head, and small red shoes. He is a dull blue in color with wood brown for his muzzle, torso, and inner ears. He has a puppet-like mouth and googly white eyes.
DSK[]
DSK was an upcoming EXE created by Comgaming_Nz who was planned to be used in the File Extensions side mod[17], but never made it. The only remnant of him in the mod was an unnamed teaser of his song named Miasma.
Appearance[]
DSK is a dark grey version of Sonic with black, inky-like quills, black torso, and black eyes and mouth with small sharp teeth. He has longer pointed ears and sharp-ended gloves and shoes, with the white bands being torn.
Story[]
DSK is a result of an old failed experiment of a weird liquid called Vitamin X. After the liquid corrupts a Sonic Mega Collections disk and the kid playing the game he is given life in exchange for the kid's one. He now roams the game killing anyone he comes across and gains more and more power from each kill.
Trivia[]
- The liquid on his quills are Vitamin X, the liquid he resides in.
- DSK doesn't have his own game currently, but according to the creator, he will have one eventually.
- DSK can only have memories of the child's soul he possessed.
- DSK has no idea what Sonic even is.
- DSK doesn't have an age due to the disk being years old. Also, due to no one recording when the missing child was born, he does not have a canonical age.
- DSK gets bored fast.
- DSK can get serious when needed, but he sometimes likes to toy with his prey because it leaves him less bored.
