      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Made for Love's satirical riffs on technology are undeniably clever, but the most valuable special effects in this twisty odyssey are Cristin Milioti's charisma and comedic timing.

Doreen St. Felix New Yorker Made for Love bears the same trademark that distinguishes Nutting's unsettling and hilarious novels: aromantic pictures of sadly plausible couplings. May 8, 2021 Full Review Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic These scenarios are fascinating, but they rarely have any meaningful connection with or insight into real life and real love. Made for Love, at least, does. Apr 22, 2021 Full Review Kylie Northover The Age (Australia) Made For Love lacks some of the subtleties of other dystopian stories, but a great cast and a wry, almost slapstick humour carries the story along to an unexpected and surprisingly touching conclusion. Rated: 4/5 Apr 22, 2021 Full Review Jennifer Bisset CNET Brilliantly sardonic comedy Made For Love features technology interfering with relationships. Mar 29, 2023 Full Review Natalia Trzenko La Nación (Argentina) Acidic and fun. Alexandra L just otherwordly, really great way to both respect the source material and diverge from it in fresh exciting ways Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/16/22 Full Review Audience Member the plots are crazy! loved the acting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Made for Love is fantastic! It is very original, quirky and even surprising at times. It is superbly written and gripping with great acting performances, especially the three leads (Cristin Milioti, Ray Romano & Billy Magnussen). This series is so refreshingly different! I had not heard anything about Made for Love until a friend recommended it, and I'm so glad she did. This is a hidden gem on HBO Max! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I ran into this show by recognizing Cristin Milioti's face on the poster, who I remembered from an excellent episode of Black Mirror. Having a huge crush on Cristin, I HAD to watch it, no matter what it was. I was pleasantly surprised to find this show interesting, unique, thought-provoking, and funny! Cristin caries this show like the total pro that she is. She is an excellent actress with great range, comedic timing, and equally convincing with comedy as she is in dramatic moments. Her face and especially her big brown eyes convey emotion so well that you cant help but keep your eyes glued to her no matter who else is in the frame. But that's not to say the the supporting actors aren't valuable as well, they are. Ray Romano is perfect as Herbert, Hazel's recluse, "pervert" father. Billy is convincing as Hazel's sociopathic, conniving, sleaseball husband. I cant wait for more of season 2 and truly hope this show goes for 5+ seasons! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review ripper j Interesting theme and decent acting, but the pacing is too slow and script is not funny. I was more bored than entertained. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review sarah j This show is ridiculous in a good way. Great acting in this darkly funny show.
