Yahoo Mail set up in Outlook

Your Yahoo mail you can retrieve via Outlook, when you set up the program accordingly. We explain the individual steps in Outlook and what Server information for email Setup are required.

Yahoo! Mail in Outlook 2010 set up

To set up Yahoo! in Outlook 2010.
  1. First, click on [file] and click the [add account].
  2. There is a new wizard window will appear click where you configure the [server settings or additional server types manually] and twice [More].

Yahoo Mail settings for the POP Server to configure

Then enter the following data in the new window:
  • Your Name: desired name of the sender, e.g. Max Mustermann
  • E-Mail address: full e-Mail address, e.g. max.mustermann@yahoo.de
  • Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • User name: the first part of your e-Mail address without the @yahoo.EN-ending. In the example: max.pattern man
  • Password: the password of your Mail account. Make a tick in "save password" so you don't have to enter the password each Time.
  • Make sure that the login Option, "on using secure password authentication“ is enabled.
Enter the data
After clicking on the "More settings" to open another window.
  • Select the tab "outgoing server" and activate the Option [Of postau goose server (SMTP) requires authentication].
  • Go to the tab "Advanced" and place a checkmark for [this Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)].
  • Drop-down menu of the outgoing mail server, select [SSL].
SSL settings
The Port of the incoming mail server (POP3) should be 995 and the outgoing server (SMTP) 465. If not, tap the digits simply.

Yahoo IMAP Server in Outlook set up

If you don't want to use the POP3 Protocol, but IMAP, follow the same scheme as above. Change the following only:
  • Incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
  • Port incoming mail: 993
