The Murder of Mr. Wickham (MR. DARCY & MISS TILNEY MYSTERY Book 1) Kindle Edition
“Had Jane Austen sat down to write a country house murder mystery, this is exactly the book she would have written.” —Alexander McCall Smith
The happily married Mr. Knightley and Emma are throwing a party at their country estate, bringing together distant relatives and new acquaintances—characters beloved by Jane Austen fans. Definitely not invited is Mr. Wickham, whose latest financial scheme has netted him an even broader array of enemies. As tempers flare and secrets are revealed, it’s clear that everyone would be happier if Mr. Wickham got his comeuppance. Yet they’re all shocked when Wickham turns up murdered—except, of course, for the killer hidden in their midst.
Nearly everyone at the house party is a suspect, so it falls to the party’s two youngest guests to solve the mystery: Juliet Tilney, the smart and resourceful daughter of Catherine and Henry, eager for adventure beyond Northanger Abbey; and Jonathan Darcy, the Darcys’ eldest son, whose adherence to propriety makes his father seem almost relaxed. In this tantalizing fusion of Austen and Christie, from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray, the unlikely pair must put aside their own poor first impressions and uncover the guilty party—before an innocent person is sentenced to hang.

The new characters introduced are definitely deserving of a sequel and/or a dramatisation, and I'm disappointed to find there isn't one yet. Death Comes To Pemberley was great, but this novel would be much more riveting.
I can't speak highly enough of this novel, in short. It is beyond fabulous.
I often imagine what might have happened to favourite characters when we leave them happily ever after at the end of a book. This goes in some way to imagining that for Austen’s characters. As an Austen fan, I had the fun of knowing about the characters’ backstories which added a level of enjoyment to my reading.
When Mr Wickham turns up uninvited and comes to a nasty end on a stormy night, it is clear the murderer must be one of the household. The magistrate called to investigate is another familiar name, Frank Churchhill. With his low opinion and pre-conceived ideas about the lower classes, two of the guests feel there is no guarantee of justice and decide they must take on the case themselves. Our sleuths are Juliet Tilney and Jonathan, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Darcy. Setting impropriety aside, they set about finding out who might have reason to want Wickham dead.
Well, it turns out that as well as the Darcys, who you might think would be obvious suspects, Mr Wickham has had dealings of one sort or another with all of the families and many would have good reason to be pleased at his demise. I enjoyed following Miss Tilney and Mr Darcy’s investigations, as they put aside their own ideas about the guests as well as their own poor first impressions of each other. The author casts suspicion on almost everyone and there were plenty of red herrings. My money was on one particular character but the author did a good job of making me doubt myself. I was wrong of course!
I felt the author portrayed the feel of the era in a very satisfying way with the way the characters spoke and behaved feeling very true to that of an Austen novel. The book ends in a way that suggests the characters will be setting up further meetings between Miss Tilney and and young Mr Darcy and of course, as I mentioned above there are at least another two books in which they will feature. I look forward to following their further adventures and finding out if esteem and admiration will turn to love.

Once the murder actually occurs, the whodunnit of the story is interesting, and I love the main characters. But I hope the pacing is better in the next novel!
