victor o I saw this in an advertisement for Quibi, the short film streaming site. I had no interest in the site, but I jumped at the opportunity for a show with AnnaSophia Robb, only I wasn't going to wait every week for a new episode, so I waited until it was completely released. But after waiting and watching, I realized this was never a TV show, it was meant to be a movie. Emma, a beautiful young woman finds herself naked and alone in the middle of a dark forest. She wakes up and gets herself home, feeling violated in every sense of the word as days go by and she feels sick and bleeds to the point that she realizes that she is pregnant. At first, she believes that it was a simple fling with her boyfriend, but her pregnancy becomes more bizarre. She is not experiencing normal pregnancy symptoms. Worse, she realizes the circumstances on the night she conceived have happened to other women like her, and she becomes convinced that her conception wasn't just abnormal but not of this world. Worse, a part of a twisted conspiracy. As I mentioned before, I don't believe this wasn't meant to be a TV show, but a movie. Considering each episode runtime, subtracting the credits, you get 90 minutes, the typical runtime for a direct-to-video/streaming movie. My guess is the producers felt their movie was too dark and that a short film streaming service would have been more profitable. With the eleven episodes, the weeklong gaps would feel like months that pass by in a pregnancy. Show or movie, this was okay. This was a creepy story, but it had good acting, especially from AnnaSophia Robb and Mira Sorvino. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
