Devin Ratray Biography: Age, Childhood, and Education

Devin D. Ratray was born on the 11th January 1977 in New York USA, into a show business family – Devin is the son of actors Peter Ratray and his wife Ann Willis, and has a brother named Luke Ratray. His father, Peter is best known as George Potter in the TV series “The New People” (1969-1970), while his mother Ann played Jeanette MacDonald in the film “Train Ride to Hollywood” (1975). From an early age, he was introduced to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, and began acting when he was only nine years old.

However, he still matriculated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in 1994.

Career Beginnings

Devin made his acting debut in the mystery thriller-drama film “Where Are the Children?” in 1986, starring Jill Clayburn, Max Gail, and Harley Cross, and before the decade ended, made a few more on-screen appearances, including in the action-adventure film “The River Pirates” (1988) and in the TV comedy series “Heartland” (1989). Also, he was Ronnie Coleman in the comedy film “Little Monsters”.

The following year, Devin secured the role of Buzz in what turned out to be a cult film – “Home Alone”, starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern. He repeated the role in the sequel “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” in 1992, and continued with roles in the comedy “Dennis the Menace” the following year, and drama “Strong Island Boys” (1997).

Rise to Stardom

From the late ‘90s until the mid- 2000s, Devin wasn’t very active as an actor, as he was focused on other interests, but in 2007 he was JJ in the film “The Cake Eaters”.

Slowly he started getting more popular roles, and in 2009 he was Bobby in the sci-fi action thriller film “Surrogates”, with Bruce Willis as the main star, and starred in the comedy film “The Flying Scissors”, next to Mason Petit and Matthew Arkin. In 2011, Devin stunned the world with the film “True Bromance”, showcased in a quest to win the heart of the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice – the film was broadly welcomed and won several awards.

Devin continued quite successfully through 2010, first with the part of Cole in the multiple Academy Award-nominated comedy-drama film “Nebraska” (2013), starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte and June Squibb. The same year, Devin had a supporting role in the action film “R.I.P.D.”, starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds, while in 2016 he co-starred in the comedy-crime film “Masterminds”, with Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig, and Owen Wilson, and in the biopic about the aftermath of John Lennon’s murder, entitled “The Lennon Report”.

From 2016 onwards, Devin has featured in a few high-profile projects, such as the comedy film “Life Hack” (2017), which won numerous awards, and in which he portrayed Larry, then the role of Nate Henry in the short-lived crime drama series “Mosaic” (2017-2018), starring Sharon Stone, Frederick Weller and Jennifer Ferrin, and as Tommy Burke in the TV series “Chicago Med” (2018).

Most recently, Devin portrayed Tinfoil Kevin in the TV comedy action-adventure series “The Tick” (2017-2019), and was Stephen in the comedy crime-drama film “Hustlers” (2019).
