      Q:I have owned this machine for 3 years and it suddenly stopped dehumidifying. It is running, but it is not removing moisture. I had it set up on a drain hose, but switched to the tank to confirm that it was not working and it is not. What now?

          DO NOT BUY
          Absolutely do not buy this. My first one lasted close to two years before the condenser starting icing over, was outside of the factory warranty but home Depot was able to help me out and do an exchange. The second one made it 10 months, fortunately inside the factory warranty and was able to get a full refund and buy a GE.

            Ice build up! Don’t waste your money!
            Like many other reviews on here, I’ve had this dehumidifier (2 of them) for less than 2 years and they’re both now accumulating ice and no longer dehumidifying properly. I’ve kept the filters and coils very clean and the conditions have remained the same throughout. I don’t know how this product has 4.5 stars with so many people having the same issue.

              Don't Buy, Significant Ice Build Up
              Purchased under 2 years ago from Home Depot and now it has significant ice build up on the back of the unit. After researching to see if my situatioin was an isolated incident, I discovered it wasn't and this is a common issue with this dehumidifier within 2 years. Called Toshiba, and they said it was out of their has, and nothing they can do because it was past the one year warranty period.

                DO NOT ORDER
                Do not order this product. The back of the dehumidifier started turning to ice after less than 2 years of use. The manufacturer has not returned my calls and Home Depot says there is nothing they can do. Do not order.

                  Toshiba 50 pint dehumidifier died
                  Purchased this Toshiba dehumidifier at Home Depot Ca. Worked fine for just over a year (note not used for 6 of those months during winter) then stopped collecting any water. Contacted Toshiba and they told me since it was 1 month over warranty they would not be able to do anything. Took to repair shop and was diagnosed as very low coolant which is not fixable so unit is garbage. Many other brands have 2 year warranties. WILL NEVER PURCHASE A PREMIUM PRICED YET INFERIOR TOSHIBA APPLIANCE AGAIN.

                    On my 3 rd after 2 fails
                    First lasted 14 months. Quit and replace by HD extended warranty. Second lasted 5 months after freezing when running. Replaced by Toshiba. On my third and working after a week. Crossing my fingers. Buy only if you are getting a warranty !! By the way had two GE’s fail under warranty. Beware of all ‘modern’ dehumidifiers unless warranted

                      DO NOT BUY..it will fail no fault by you!
                      This unit lasted for 15 months.. 3 months out of warranty. Now it ices over. Filter always cleaned ( monthly). Never moved; stayed in the same spot in my basement. Toshiba customer service said" To Bad...warranty has expired." If you have one of these that is under 1 year old; Use my ice picture and put in a claim NOW.... yours will fail! Believe the other reviews.... JUNK!

                        Lugging it back for a different brand
                        Bought in July and found a puddle under it the other day. The back coils were frosted up so bad it was dripping down the outside of the unit. I let it thaw out and restarted it. Noticed in a short period of time the back started to frost over again. Left it running for a couple hours and just checked on it and the fins are now clear. Guessing this thing has a defrost sensor that only works when it feels like it.

                          works for about 6 months
                          worked for about 6 months. exchanged it for a new one and now this one is doing the same thing the old one was doing. it ices up and does not work.

                            A piece of junk. That is all I can say. Junk!!
                            It was working perfectly, until one year and 2 weeks, the coils at the back started frosting and was blowing hot air. Called customer service, but offered no help. They stated that the warranty had expired and couldn't help me. I was disappointed. $260 dollars down the garbage.
