  1. Giants back to winning ways

    Belfast Giants 5-1 Glasgow Clan

The Belfast Giants are back to winning ways with a big win.

The offence, which has been missing in action recently is back with a five-goal outburst and as the game went on, especially after the huge penalty kill, you could feel the confidence building again.

Glasgow will be disappointed after a good opening period but after taking the lead they didn't build on it.

And then there was the cameo from Petr Cech in front of a sell-out cord of over 6,000.

A night I'm sure he will never forget.

It's onto Nottingham tomorrow for the Giants and we'll be back at 4pm for the face-off against the Panthers...

  2. Petr Cech is playing...I repeat Petr Cech is playing

    Belfast Giants 5-1 Glasgow Clan

There's something you never thought you'd hear or see.

The chant at 5-1 of 'We Want Cech' goes up from the crowd and Adam Keefe responds with 4:43 to go.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper - Champions League winner - is now playing in the Elite League for the defending treble winners - the Belfast Giants

    Unreal....

  3. GOAL! Sato scores his second of the game

    Belfast Giants 5-1 Glasgow Clan

He might have been in the penalty box, he might have sparked a fight but Kohei Sato has in fact scored his second goal of the game and that should seal an important win for the Giants

  4. Clan goal disallowed

    Belfast Giants 4-1 Glasgow Clan

That's probably not going to help the mood on the Glasgow bench.

A goal ruled out for kicking the puck into the net. The officials looked at the replay and stuck with their call on the ice.

    8 minutes remaining

  5. It's getting a little feisty

    Belfast Giants 4-1 Glasgow Clan

The Clan are frustrated. Firstly with Kohei Sato for what they believe was an illegal hip check and then with the officials for not calling a penalty.

There are a couple of hefty hits and words exchanged by both sets of players at the benches.

  6. GOAL! Captain Cooper gets Giants fourth

    Belfast Giants 4-1 Glasgow Clan

Mark Cooper who was trailing the play, picks up a rebound after Jake Kielly makes the initial save from Greg Printz, and returns it into the back of the net

  7. Third period is underway

    Belfast Giants 3-1 Glasgow Clan

This would obviously be a big win for the Giants. Earlier this season you would have said it would be guaranteed with a two-goal lead but lots of work still to do.

Glasgow will be disappointed with their second period especially after taking the lead. They failed to keep up the physical play that was causing the Giants problems. Can they mount a comeback?

  8. Giants lead by two after second period

    Belfast Giants 3-1 Glasgow Clan

Despite conceding that early goal the Giants were much better in that period.

Once Quinn Preston had levelled matters they were the dominant team but don't forget that penalty kill when the score was 1-1

  9. GOAL! Giants get a third

    Belfast Giants 3-1 Glasgow Clan

Persistence pays off for Kohei Sato.

He whiffs on the first shot, sees his second attempt saved but then bangs in the rebound.

    Sato scores

  10. GOAL! Giants take the lead

    Belfast Giants 2-1 Glasgow Clan

The answer is...maybe as the Giants take the lead.

Aza Nazarian rips a shot into the top corner from the right circle after new signing Bobby MacIntyre turns the puck over at the Glasgow blueline for the assist.

It's his first point for the Giants

  11. Giants make huge penalty kill

    Belfast Giants 1-1 Glasgow Clan

Giants take two quick penalties to give the Clan 1:50 of 5-on-3 powerplay time but the home side kill them both.

The crowd are on their feet. Could this be a pivotal moment?

  12. GOAL! Giants get spark from Preston

    Belfast Giants 1-1 Glasgow Clan

The Giants needed a response and they got it. A good forecheck kept the Clan pinned in their own zone and when the puck broke to Quinn Preston he unleashed a wicked-wrister high into the net

  13. GOAL! Clan take the lead

    Belfast Giants 0-1 Glasgow Clan

Miscommunication behind the Giants net leads to turnover and Dylan Stevenson bangs the puck in off Tyler Beskorowany who fails to keep his pad tight to his post.

Soft goal, poor goal to concede by the Giants just 16 seconds after the restart.

  14. Puck dropped for second period

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Glasgow Clan

The confidence in the Giants line-up can't be great at the moment considering their recent poor run of form so you get the feeling they need to get the first goal here.

Glasgow went to Sheffield last weekend and won so despite a midweek defeat to Guildford their form has been better. All to play for.

    Second period is underway....

  15. Scoreless at the end of the first period

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Glasgow Clan

The two teams have traded big hits but no goals at the end of 20 minutes.

Jake Kielly has been the busier of the two netminders with the Giants out-shooting Glasgow 13-6 but the home side are still struggling to find the back of the net, a recent trend they would like to reverse.

  16. Gloves dropped as intensity picks up

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Glasgow Clan

Huge hit by Clan's Nate Kallen doesn't please the Giants and Jacob Friend and Dyson Stevenson drop the gloves at centre ice. Spirted bout.

    Five minutes each for fighting

    Punches traded

  17. Giants fail to score with man advantage

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Glasgow Clan

No zip to the Giants powerplay.

They create one chance but easy save for Jake Kielly

  18. No goals but plenty of action

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Glasgow Clan

Breathless start with the first stoppage coming after 5:49 of continuous action. Chances at both ends but the Giants going on the powerplay

    Shot blocked

  19. First period underway...

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Glasgow Clan

  20. It's hockey night in Belfast....

Belfast Giants v Glasgow Clan (Face-Off 19:00 GMT)

Welcome to a sold-out SSE Arena in Belfast for the Elite League clash between the Giants and Glasgow Clan.

Belfast return to home ice trying to end a poor run of form that has seen them lose their last four league games.

It's 16 years since the Giants last lost 5 straight games in regulation in the league.

Those results have left the defending champions in ninth place after 11 games, but only six points off top spot.

Clan's four-point weekend last time out gave them two wins on the spin, but that was brought to an abrupt halt in Guildford on Wednesday, going down 7-2.

Glasgow have not won a competitive game in Belfast since March 2018.
