What we’re about
We're a book club that meets once a month to discuss, dissect and argue about our chosen monthly book.
We read anything - classics, contemporary fiction, prize winners, prize losers, best sellers and even the occasional non-fiction book. If a book gets a good recommendation, we'll give it a shot.
We also have a "what I'm reading" segment on the night - a great way to consolidate the bedside table stash of books.
So, if you're passionate about literature, come join us!
Some housekeeping information:
We meet in the city centre on a Wednesday evening at a pub or restaurant. Members can choose to share a meal and/or a drink, or simply enjoy the conversation. Books are selected two months in advance by a vote during the meeting.
To help cover Meetup fees and contribute to the EOY second-hand santa gifts, members donate $2 at each of our monthly bookclubs (but not at other ticketed events).
If you RSVP yes to one of our meetups but can no longer make it, please update your RSVP. This allows the organiser time to amend the restaurant booking, and someone on the waitlist to take your spot. It's absolutely fine to change your RSVP but anyone who 'no-shows' will be removed from the group. No-shows are unfair to restaurant staff, wait list members, and the event organiser.
