Jack Seale Guardian Normally a bad drama has a plot with holes in it. Spanish psychological thriller Muted is more like a black hole sucking in the occasional drifting nugget of narrative, destroying each one without trace. Rated: 1/5 May 19, 2023 Full Review Silvina Lamazares Clarín Although it is a short series, the intrigue at times feels forcefully stretched therefore being more confounding than entertaining. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/4 May 30, 2023 Full Review Juan Pablo Russo EscribiendoCine The story has obvious flaws and numerous plot gaps, which seriously affects the narrative's credibility. Despite this, Muted can be entertaining for those who enjoy this genre and are willing to overlook its limitations. May 19, 2023 Full Review Mikel Zorrilla Espinof Muted is a great disappointment; it had the looks of a good series with sufficiently talented people behind it to deliver a notable series but in reality, nothing here works. Dave C I found the psychological elements to this to be the story’s saving grace. With a number of lazy assumptions and plot holes, the writing could have been stronger, for sure, but the consistently solid performances of key actors and the weaving together of initially disparate threads to the story, all kept me watching. With abuse, trauma, manipulation, experimentation, relationships, morals and ethics, all part of the warped story, it crosses lines that are at times uncomfortable, and it does so extremely well Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/24 Full Review GRIFFITHS A The ending made me regret why I watched the entire season. I still can't get the theme of this series Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Jontue K It's not totally bad BUT there are so many WHYS... that are not answered. The main one being, why is any of this important and why should I care. The answers in the story line aren't enough for anyone to care. There's no depth to the importance they place on this one guy who they decided to monitor and what the consequences are if that doesn't happen. What's the importance of the rogue police officer??? I mean the main character has already gone to prison so why is any of this important?? The set up is awful. I was left with way more questions than answers. There are a lot of holes everywhere. You basically have to link them in your own imagination and make up the other half on your own which is not what an audience wants to do unless there's a point behind it or it's intentionally set up that way. There isn't a point or any meaning behind why the characters do what they do, what are they trying to achieve? What is their motive for doing it? There aren't enough answers. Towards the end instead of wrapping everything up there are instead additional questions set before you with no time to answer them. Too many "whys".... its so irritating. The picture is beautiful and the acting is great but the plot is very weak and has no foundation. This could have been a great series but instead it fell short in way too many ways to count. Plus... the Spanish name is El Silencio which doesn't mean "Muted" it means "The Silence"; a much more appropriate title since the main character DOES SPEAK. He speaks the entire show. It feels like there were 6 directors and 6 different scripts and they tossed them all in the air and however they fell is how the story plays out. Who cares about motive, intent, and answers anyways... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Brenda D Could have been a Good show but no one wants to watch a full show and be left hanging in the end. The end is done to clearly confuse you by showing the back images of both actors standing over the balcony. The ending was not smartly done it was just done so u won't know who went over the balcony , If u don't mind watching a show that doesn't give u closure then this show is for u. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review inta k quite interesting. the ending is somewhat weird and unrealistic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review Tanzila T The show had a really good concept and plot, I also liked the cinematography and Aron & Manu's acting. The problem is that they could've done so much better and it wasn't executed that greatly. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
