Recently stayed at Breathless Riviera Maya (1/10 through 1/17) and we were impressed from start to finish. The check-in process was smooth, and we were able to go and begin using resort amenities despite our room not yet being ready. We were shown where the buffet was, but proceeded to the bar instead to begin our trip. Our bags were brought to our room for us, and the rest is history.
We were treated very well by the bartenders at "The Bar", particularly by Alberto Martinez, Uriel Morales, Fernando Deloya, Hansel and Gerson Rodriguez. We had excellent service when by the pool from Gabriela Ferrar as well as Hugo and Wilber. We were entertained daily by the E-Team, particularly Miguel, Sandra, Daniel and Brian.
The room service food (available 24 hours per day, included in the all-inclusive price) was excellent, hot when it arrived and prompt. The food throughout the remainder of the resort was good. We ate at the French, Mexican, Asian and steak restaurants (missed the Italian restaurant during our stay). My only strike was one night we noted a foul odour in one of the restaurants and decided amongst our group that we couldn't eat there. So we proceeded to another restaurant. Other than that, the dining was great. The Barefoot Grill (pool side, lunch) and Bites (lunch) were also great.
The beach was good, although admittedly, we are more pool people than beach people. There was a barrier preventing seaweed from reaching the beach, and when some did sneak through, staff was there to deal with it reasonably quickly. There was no odour at the beach directly in front of the hotel (some odour was noted when walking the beach to the north of the resort) and the water was nice to look at (not crystal clear, but not "brown" as some describe it).
We had an Allure swimout room, and although I'm not sure I'd pay extra for a swimout again (they are not heated like the main pools), it was refreshing and offered a nice 'wake up', or a nice 'sober up' when you took a dip in it. The room itself was great with a spacious bathroom and shower (although not very private, so better for couples), comfortable bed, modern décor and was nicely laid out. We were in building 3 and with our doors closed, we could not hear much noise at all coming from outside of our room.
Would return to Breathless Riviera Maya again without a doubt. So glad that our friends recommended and came with us on vacation to this resort!

I tagged along with a friend for her family vacation, and I had so much fun at Breathless! The party pool was awesome, and each of the daily party themes were cute and fun. Sometimes the service at the swim up bar in the party pool was iffy, and I understand that they want tips, but it's very hard (actually impossible) to swim around in a pool of water in a bikini while holding on to dollars. Vielman at The Bar was amazing, he made a point to remember our names and say hello to us every night. On the E-Team, Sandra was AMAZING at water aerobics, and had so much energy. Gio was lots of fun too, and did a great job teaching dance fit. The xhale members only pool is beautiful and relaxing, but if you weren't a member of the xhale club, there would really be no actual quiet place to relax during the day. The nightlife was fun, and the New Years Eve party was awesome! All of the live musicians that the resort had at various events were all extremely talented and played great music. The Glo party was also really cool. All of the food was good, and they were extremely cautious with accommodating allergies which was very reassuring. The hibachi was fun, and the steakhouse was great too, although the food was a little too salty. The nook had delicious coffee, and is definitely worth giving a try one morning! One issue with the room was it was extremely humid and damp, no matter how we set the air or kept the doors closed. Also, housekeeping came banging aggressively on our door at 9AM some mornings, but then wouldn't show up at all on other days. 24 Hour room service has a pretty long wait time, usually an hour or more, but the chicken wings are really good. There were tons of beach games too, volleyball net, cornhole, and footballs. overall it was a really fun trip, and this resort has tons of instagram opportunities. definitely a big place to party, so if you're into that i would give breathless a try!

We went with a large group to celebrate. We were cautious with the pandemic but the safety protocol when we arrived and while we were there was spot on. Sanitizing shoes at entrance, luggage sanitized, staff wearing masks, room sanitization protocol, and hand sanitizer offered in the room and around the resort. I'm a natural worrier and not once did I have concerns.
Quite honestly, it was the staff (from rooms, to dining, and entertainment) that made our experience memorable. Just to name a few, Miguel, Fernando, Fabiola, and Esmerelda.
We upgraded for Xhale Ocean Front with jacuzzi balcony. The jacuzzi tub was OK so I think I'll go for a swim-out next time. Having the private Xhale Lounge, quiet pool, and Kibeh bar was nice until they closed things down for the last few days we were there for construction. It was a minor bummer and there really is no perfect time for construction. We're glad we got to enjoy it earlier in the trip.
The pools were great and the beach was OK. I'm spoiled with sandy beaches, and this location it was a bit rocky, but they raked the beach daily to keep the sand on shore nice, and they had breakers that helped keep the waves safe. Having the huts on the beach with loungers and drink service was spectacular!
During our stay we ordered room service for breakfast and dinner and enjoyed Silk, Spumante, and Strip for dinner. Room service was great - they offered some alterations to our meals, it came in a good amount of time, and was always delicious. Strip was nice because the attire was casual, we at at Spumante twice and their beef carpaccio was the best I've ever had. Getting a little sushi at Silk was a great way to end our trip.
Everything was so great that I'm excited for a return trip.

We decided to stay at Breathless after our excellent experience at Secrets Akumal. We often like the change resorts to enjoy new experiences and were satisfied with the overall experience from Breathless although there was a huge rewards trip visiting during our stay which made it a little different then what we've experienced in the past. We decided to upgrade for the Xhale club which was well worth it as Kibbeh was amazing and also gave us access to the Xhale pool which provides a little more tranquil experience after late nights. Depending on the purpose of your visit I would recommend doing the necessary research to ensure the correct room selection.
Xhale - quieter and more relaxing environment and includes Kibbeh Xcellerate - Located near the party pool which is great during the day and usually quiet in the evenings so a good location as well. Allure - which I believe is located near the activity pool and Wink is quiet during the day for the most part but the evenings can get quite loud as there is often parties/entertainment taking place at Wink/Afterdark which create some noise
I would recommend staying at this resort to anyone who is looking for a good time, good food and amazing service. In comparison to Secrets we got exactly what we were looking for which was similar food quality but much better entertainment and nightlife.
The entertainment team is absolutely amazing and keeps the energy/party going at all times.

This was our very first trip out of the country. Breathless blew us out of the water! The moment that we stepped out of the van we were greeted with cold towels, they took our bags and got them ready to bring up to our room. The smell of the lobby was great! When booking from cheap Caribbean we had let them know it was for our honeymoon and they went out of their way to get us a free bottle of champagne at a nice dinner! The entire staff I would say was all great! Every single employee said HOLA and was super friendly. The party’s were great and super involved with everyone. I want to say a huge shout out to Daniel for coming up to us and introducing himself and to have a conversation with us to get to know us and interact with us. He was super fun and very interactive and remembered our names the entire trip and would say hi everytime. Miguel had all of the guests ready for all the games with his fun energy and he as well remembered our names and said hi! At night we danced the nights away with Gio and hervey they had the crowd going!! We also had so much fun with Hervey and Gio playing basketball in the pool! Fernando at the swim up bar remembered what drinks we liked and we basically didn’t have to ask for them he just had them coming! If you want a strong drink they definitely go to him. If you want a weaker drink just make sure you specify that! Overall we loved everyone and everything about this resort!

My girlfiend and I had an unforgettable experience here. The resort is very modern and upscale. Beautiful views everywhere. The rooms were top notch. Very clean and well maintained resort. They even have sanitized floor matts before you enter a room and they sanitize your luggage when you arrive. All of the staff were just incredible. They all remember your names. Housekeeping doesn’t get enough credit those ladies were perfect. Book your excursions through the resort!!! Its guaranteed on-time transportation and its not a janky ass cab. The service is provided through the resort and it is cheaper than online. Food was delicious but small portions. The beach has weird hours and so do some of the bars so be aware of that. Overall, FANTASTIC RESORT! You feel like royalty the entire time. Esteban, David, and Aaron were our favorite staff members.

The Breathless Resort has become one of my favorite vacation destinations in the world!
Their attention to detail is first class, especially during these times.
The staff were very friendly and well trained; always wearing their face masks and attentive to your needs.
The room was completely sanitized before we arrived, and was re-sanitized every time it was cleaned.
Workers are constantly keeping the property looking its best, as well as taking sanitary measures by spraying indoor and outdoor common areas with disinfectant as a safety precaution.
The food is delicious, with many different types of cuisine to choose from.
One of my favorite things about Breathless is the outdoor area with 3 themed pools (Relax / Sport / Party), so you can choose which environment you’re in the mood for and customize your experience.
I can definitely say that I felt very safe during my 10 day stay while having an amazing time!

The resort has truly made every attempt at making the guests feel safe during their stay. Once arriving guests have their luggage sanitized and receive a temperature check. We stayed in an ocean view XHale club room and it was more than adequate. The food for both lunch and dinner was very good in our opinion. The only downfall was the breakfast options. While it is true the buffet is open, the options were very limited. This truly was our only complaint during our week stay. We already knew prior to arrival that the gym was closed and that there would only be a few restaurants open each night. When we did have to wait for a table, the most we waited was 20 minutes sometimes not even able to finish our drinks before the buzzer was going off. The beach area is very lackluster and obviously this is not the fault of the resort. The workers are constantly clearing the seaweed from the beach but it is something to be aware of. If you are coming here for the beach and not the overall vibe of the resort you will be disappointed.
Now for the best part. I have to say I have stayed in many all inclusive resorts in various countries and honestly when you are at this price point they are all nice for the most part. What truly stood out here and the reason we will definitely return was the staff. Hands down the best entertainment team I have ever encountered. Ulises, Xavi, Daniel and especially MIGUEL were lights out the best crew we have been around. We had multiple days that unfortunately rained. These guys made sure these hours of rain were filled with true adult fun whether playing drinking games or even just conversing. I truly can't express how incredible this team was. If you are truly trying to have a great time and are not worried about the color of the ocean, this resort is for you.

My bestfriend and I booked our stay at Breathless through Vacation Express. We stayed 5 days and 4 nights. From the time we were picked up at the airport by the Sunwing/Vacation Express driver, safety measures were taken. The Sunwing rep provided sanitizer in our hand immediately upon meeting and the driver sprayed our luggage with a cleaning sanitizer solution. Both employees wore masks and so did we. Upon arrival at the resort, they checked our temp, had us step on a mat which cleans our shoes. We were greeted with a smile and a glass of champagne by Estaban who was extremely welcoming. We checked in and upgraded our room to the Xhale club for an ocean view room with a Jacuzzi and all access. There’s a built in box that connects with our room to provide contact-less room service. The remote, toiletries and soap were all wrapped and sealed as a safety precaution. The overall stay was wonderful. All employees wore masks or some sort of face guard. We ordered room service for the first two mornings and one the third day tried the breakfast buffet. As of now, the buffet is only open in the morning. The food was great and Pascual took great care of us. We requested to sit in his section each morning we went to the buffet. The food was served by the employees as a safety measure. Some of the restaurants were closed but we had an opportunity to experience the Italian restaurant on the night of reopening. The food was great, the portions were a good size. I ordered the Veal and it was phenomenal. The food at the grill is also pretty good. The bartender at the Grill's bar Darwin makes the best margaritas and was very pleasant. The pool parties were fun and were held at the center Energy Pool. Carlos was our favorite server at the pool and kept a good drink in our hands at all times. We loved his friendly personality and he was very funny. We didn't book any excursions before the trip but we were approached at the pool by Axel to sail along the shore for a tour and see the beautiful water/different colors. He was excellent and I'm glad he approached us. They were all very friendly. I will definitely be returning to Breathless and any of their sister resorts in the future. I highly recommend!! Great service, beautiful property and very, very SAFE during this time!!

Pretty much like everyone else, my wife and I were looking for a quick getaway to release some of the COVID stress. After an amazing experience at Breathless in 2017, we decided to return to the Resort to relax for 5 days. From the moment we arrived, they took all the precautions to avoid any virus spread, from temperature check to sanitizing your luggage before delivering to your room. The toiletries and even the remote control for the TV were vacuum-sealed to guarantee a safe environment.
The amenities of this place are unbelievable, rooms, bars, pools, restaurants, but their real secret is the staff. I cannot put into words the kindness and attention from their staff to every guest and to us in specific. From our VIP Services Esteban, the hostesses Angeles and Paola, from the entertainment group, Miguel, Ulises, Daniel, the amazing bartenders, Fernando, Wilberth, Alan, Andres, Lety and Gabriela, and the servers Jose, Eduardo, Gilberto, just to name a few. They work their hardest to make sure you have the best vacation possible, always with a big smile and a cold beverage.
We will return to Breathless Riviera Cancun many other times and I hope you do the same. They need visitors more than any other time now. Make sure to tip them well.
