U.S. Embassy in Senegal

The Embassy will generally process cases in the order we receive them from NVC.

Sign into your immigrant visa case in the online system (CEAC). Look in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. If it says your case is at NVC, your case is at the National Visa Center (NVC) and has not yet been sent to the U.S. Embassy in Dakar. All questions and requests for expedited appointments must be directed to NVC.

If your case is at the U.S. Embassy in Dakar, you may look for earlier openings on the Visa Appointment Service website. If you have difficulty scheduling an appointment on the website, please see the Visa Appointment Service’s contact page.

Sign into your immigrant visa case in the online system (CEAC) (https://ceac.state.gov/iv). Look in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. If it says your case is at NVC, your case is at the National Visa Center (NVC) and has not yet been sent to the U.S. Embassy in Dakar. All questions must be directed to NVC. NVC will schedule an immigrant visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in Dakar.

If the CEAC says your case is in Dakar, you must register at the Official U.S. Department of State Visa Appointment Service. Please register using an email address that you check frequently, as any changes to your appointment will be communicated by email. If you did not receive an appointment letter from NVC, you should choose an open appointment slot. If you need to reschedule your appointment, you may do so using this service.

If you have been outside of the US for less than 12 months, you may apply for a boarding foil. Information about how to apply for boarding foils is here.

If you have one of the following items, a boarding foil is not required: An expired Permanent Resident Card with a 10-year expiration date An expired Permanent Resident Card (with a two-year validity), and a Form I-797, Notice of Action, indicating that status is extended If you have an expired Green Card with a 2-year expiration date AND a Form I-797, Notice of Action, showing that they have filed a Form I-751 or Form I-829 to remove the conditions on their permanent resident status, the Form I-797 extends the validity of the card for a specified length of time, generally one year. A valid Reentry Permit

Please consult your air carrier prior to completion of an I-131A and payment of the fee.

All appointments for nonimmigrant visa interviews (other than for diplomats and officials (A and G)) must be made through our appointment scheduling service, https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-sn/niv. Expect significant wait times for interview appointments. Individuals renewing a recently expired full-validity visa in the same category may be able to renew their visa without an interview. Please use the appointment scheduling service to request a renewal appointment.
