My time at Bernards High School has been a very positive experience. In all of my academics I have excelled farther than my peers, all teachers and faculty love me, I am the president of 3 different clubs at my school, and I work to make our school better all around. The sense of community and family I have gotten here throughout my 4 years has been phenomenal, and I would not change that aspect ever. The only downside to my school is that our bathrooms are usually shut down due to kids doing illegal things or the facilities not working, which has become more and more frequent. Although this has bothered me in the past, the pros do outweigh the cons. I had 5 people write my letters of recommendation, including my EMS captain(I’m an EMT) who wrote a raving review on myself and my character. I can proudly say that I have enjoyed my time here as a student at Bernards High School, and will really miss it dearly. Please consider me for being the recipient of this scholarship/giveaway!
I would like to see change primarily in the dichotomy of the two main subjects--the humanities and STEM. I feel like many people at my school are driven only towards the sciences and maths, with many people dropping their language and history classes, let alone music and art as extra-curricular activities, by their sophomore year. As a humanities student, this disappoints me--and I'd like to see more of my classmates pursuing the humanities further into college.
I had a great time. The academics were rigorous and prepared me for college very well! The class sizes were all very small, which allowed for close connections with many teachers. I truly enjoyed the woodworking classes that were applicable to my personal interests.
