Album Revolution #4:
Remember when I said that since album number 2, "Larry Graham" was on a spiritual journey? Well, it landed with him starting his transition into the "Jehovah Witness" Faith...
In doing so, along with "G.C.S.", "Mirror" was born...
You can tell that he was looking into that "Spiritual Mirror" to see what kind of person his was becoming....The best thing is that, his "Funk" became more pronounced...
That became very evident with the beginning track, "Entrow" (Crown Jewel), following the same pattern of "The Jam", but taking things further with the "Drum Line" intro...Brilliant!!!!!
The 2nd Crown Jewel, "Love (Covers A Multitude Of Sin)", shows how he was taking what he learned from "God's" word, "The Bible", and using it for everyday life (and the Music was EXTREMELY GROOVY!!!!)....
The "Title Track" is also a nice little track, also having "Larry" expressing himself Spiritually....
Now, I will admit that the next 4 songs in, "Do Yah", "Save Me", "I Got A Reason" and "Priscilla" are just ok....They are not terrible, just not groundbreaking....
The last song, and Ultimate, Ultimate, Ultimate, Ultimate Crown Jewel, "Forever", is an ABSOLUTE STANDOUT!!! It has "Larry" again expressing himself Spiritually, and the Music is FANTASTIC, with MASSIVE Keyboards accompanied by his usual Super Bass....It seems to follow the pattern of "Today" from "Release Yourself"....
I was glad to see the band really support "Larry" in his Spiritually journey, and I am sure he was EXTREMELY grateful...This would be a while that he would express himself in this manner, to be able to maintain his balance....
Besides, there was still more "Funk" to get to, and I am sure that "Larry & Graham Central Station" had no problem getting to it.... - Spirituality blend into funk with gospel and disco grooves.
Take a look yourself into GCS Mirror .
