    The Rhyley Clan
We were in Louth with other descendants of the Rhyley family who were resident in Louth in the 1800's and beyond. The get together was organised by a relative whose ancestor had emigrated to Canada in the early 1900's and from where she and her husband had travelled. The Museum curator and team arranged a walk of Louth where we were given a comprehensive insight into where our ancestors had lived and worked. We then spent time looking around the museum and found links with other family members we'd been unaware of. As a band of volunteers, this small museum are doing an amazing job of keeping the history of this market town alive and relevant. We came away with much more information about our (my husband's ) family links with the town and seeing where they'd been brought my ancestry experience to life.

    Welcoming museum
We visited this museum on 25 th October whilst staying on a short break in Louth. A volunteer made us feel welcomed on arrival. We were very interested when she pointed out all of the relevant landmarks on the William Brown panorama of Louth. I also enjoyed the displays of local brick making, the Victorian wood carvings and photographs showing the local flooding in 1920. I think the museum has something of interest for all ages, it is a relatively small but items were well displayed with relevant information. The entrance fee of £4 adults is completely worth spending. Children are free. If you are in Louth it is definitely worth visiting. Both volunteers on the day went out of their way to give visitors a good experience.

Museum packed full of interesting items and tells the history of this historic market town
I visited Louth Museum to find out more about it's history. It is a small museum that is packed full of amazing items and has "something for everyone", including young visitors. The staff are so welcoming too. I particularly enjoyed the wooden carved angels displayed upstairs and also the panoramic view of the town painted in the late 1800's .

Well laid out and fascinating local history - and a warm welcome!
Visiting Louth on a trip to scatter my father's ashes and decided to visit the museum as part of trip. A warm Lincs welcome by the staff and we learnt even more about Louth's history and the surrounding area. The Louth Then and Now book put together by the museum is a must for anymore seeking local history. The archivist did a great job following up on some of our questions after our visit. Definitely recommended.

There was little of great interest in this local museum. Many of the exhibits were rather like bric a brace.
Of interest was the 1920 flood exhibition.
I was only there for 30 minutes.

My 8 year old granddaughter was given trails to follow and fill in, and we were looked after particularly well by the receptionist and a guide. The exhibits are well set out and information is extensive and easy to read.

Am amazing museum - a wide range of extremely interesting exhibits thoughtfully displayed with excellent information for both adults & children. We went especially to see Thomas Wallis' carvings which are breath-taking but I most enjoyed the sense of Louth as a current living place as it gave extra meaning to its past. Many objects had their journey to the museum documented & two have come home from the US. I found the display of the devastating flood in 1920 very affecting with personal details & photos taken at the time. Not to be missed!

This is a surprising and fascinating gem of a place that charts the history of this wonderful town from pre-history. The flood of 1920 has its own fascinating exhibition upstairs. Well worth a visit.
