Great Decisions Q&A
Alone or Together: The U.S. and the World
This week, FPA interviews Barbara Crossette, author and contributing writer to the New York Times, on the topic of multilateralism vs. unilateralism in American foreign policy. The subject is topic one of Great Decisions 2003, Alone or Together: The U.S. and the World. Americans are not isolationists, polls show, but it is easy to be provincial if there is a dearth of intelligent commentary or discussion, said Crossette. Americans are now very focused on the world because war may be imminent and there are terrorists on the loose. But there has to be something else between 1990s-style disengagement and military action. Thats where international organizations come in.
